A long time ago, I tried to make a Japanese inspired building, but it was not looking that good. Years after, trying to understand what is particular to Japanese architecture, I finally found inspiration for this. Not a big building, but I added some details that should give the mood :)

[MOC] Modular: The Sushi Restaurant • 寿司屋
Captain Hannibal Joost replied to Captain Hannibal Joost's topic in LEGO Town
Thank you :) I build always my model, even with wrong colors or similar pieces just to check if it's stable and strong enough (for AFOL, I mean :)). There's a "sliding door" inside that I had to check twice if it works: it doesn't open wide, but it works :). And all roof parts are strong enough for me :) -
[MOC] Modular: The Sushi Restaurant • 寿司屋

Thank you :) Yes, that's a way to keep this building "universal" (with no words), so that every modular city can have a sushi restaurant across the world :) -

Hi everyone! For this small project (16x32 modular), I was inspired by the bow windows of Harry Potter Diagon Alley. I also was looking for another way to place stairs somewhere to go to first floor, and came with the idea of a staircase on the side.

Understand :) And that's a good choice, it fits well the video, story and ambiance ;) Yes I make music, in different styles (even if I really love movie soundtrack and symphonic orchestra :p) Here're some examples:- 38 replies

Hi all! This one has been hard do design. I got quickly a correct interior for the surf shop and the bar, and my main idea was the stairs in front of the building, but designing the upper part was a challenge. I've tried so much different roofs! And so much different colors and "textures"! Finally, a small building, but I love it this way :)

Thank you! Yes, other people said it looks like some building they saw in Hawaii. I'm just happy that it evokes some real building, without being clearly from one place or another :) Thanks! A big challenge to go with bright or punchy colors in modular series :)

Hi all! I've designed these two buildings (on two 16x32 base plates) in the style of New York City architecture :) Left one has a living and kitchen on ground floor, a gym room on first floor and bedroom with bathroom on second floor. Right one has a kitchen on ground floor too, a living room with sofa, tv and upright piano on first floor, and bedroom with bathroom on second floor. Hope you'll like them ;)

Thank you! That's not always easy to get the right "mood" in the modular format, but I've search for many photos for the right look :) Yes for sure we need glass/panes for these "windows" :/ Event the colors available for the "grid" of those windows are not enough of expansive…

Hi everyone, I plan to make a big island, as realistic as possible, starting with a "volumetric" ocean (ie, higher than one plate). I've tried and look at different technics, but I can't find something beautiful. My idea was to have part of coral reefs with transparent tiles or plates or rounds above, but the result doesn't work. Any ideas or example? Thanks in advance!

Island project: how to create water and reefs

Nice view :) it lacks the lagoon blue, but it's really good :) -
This was the first version of it. There's no topic for the second version I think

I don't know what kind of ship it is (brig?), but is it possible to add my MOC to the ship index?

For the final render, you're probably right. A plexi or glass will do the job. But... it's not Lego I have to say I probably plan this as a "modular" building (multiple 32x32 base plate) to transport it easily. So plexi or glass plate will be hard to use.
