  1. This contest is just ridiculous. Just because some over motivated people can't help themselves to play some kind of contest police, pointing out "errors" on others contribution just to push own MOCs or desperately trying to tweak the rules to fit their already made themes. Rules are rules, they were clear, no need to discuss them. Besides, I don't see a problem, if someone use 5 bricks in other color if it fits the model or if something floats or not. I can imagine, this were also no reason for the moderators to disqualify the entry. I was really enthusiastic, when the digital contest was announced again (thanks to moderators), but this is going all wrong. As @Actor Builder said, this supposed to be fun, but it is not anymore. Already looking to next contest (hopefully next year), where as it is digital, should be imho allowed everything (all bricks, all colors, backdrops) as all this things are digitally possible and also to prevent situation from this year.
  2. Hi, I'm glad you like it. However, this approach comes from "dark ages" of importing (trying to import) LDraw models to Blender and is pretty nasty . Nowdays, the ldr-importer is surely better choise as it works quite good and is also well supported. If you really want, I can look at the script, but it will take some time, because a lot of things changed in Blender since 2.69.
  3. Sometimes also the best IT professionals have a bad day :p
  4. Sure, as @Darats already wrote, try LDCad. It could be little bit frustrating at the beginning (I struggled a lot coming from SR3D Builder), but it is worth it and also @roland, the creator of LDCad is always pretty quick with support, when you have some problems or questions.
  5. 8653-1: Enzo Ferrari 1:10 [Racers/Ferrari - 2005] Download: 8653-3.mpd Errors: - missing stickers - still little bit messy One more picture in the flickr photstream
  6. 4015-1: Freighter [boats - 1982] Download: 4015.mpd Errors: - missing stickers - the rope is pretty bad
  7. Hi, you can open your mpd in mlcad and export the submodels (file->export). It will export all submodels as separate files where the main file contains all the submodels. Then, you need import only this file to blender using ldr importer. This worked well for smaller models. For bigger, complicated models: Open the mpd (make a copy of original) in LDCad and in main model: select all->reorganize->inline submodel(s). If you have submodels with submodels, you have to do it also for submodels and then in main model. Save the model. Open in mlcad, go to Multipart->Export Models, then again, you need to import just main file to blender.
  8. 8386-1: Ferrari F1 Racer [Racers/Ferrari - 2004] Download: 8386.mpd Errors: missing stickers This my first big multipart model created with LDCad, so it's a bit messy and without building steps. There are 3 more renders in my flickr photostream.
  9. Thank you for your answer. I'm using 1.5 Alfa 3. Your workaround works well (now I also understand the concept of pneuhose :-)). As wrote before I was struggling getting used to LDCad, but now it's fun and it's really fine piece of software. So keep up the great job u are doing
  10. I understand what you mean, i tried it now, but it's not working. Pneuhose is ok, but ribbed hose not, doesn't matter which point (green, red) I select before insert, it always appends a hose part after the very end of the hose (red ball) .
  11. [Help] Flexible parts (Templates) With pneumatic hose and flex hose, you can insert control points between the both ends of the hose (as seen in the video tutorial), which is pretty cool. However, it's not possible with tech. ribbed hose, tech. flex axle, rope etc, where the control points are added to the last point, so it's not possible to insert point between. Question is, it's a bug, or it's a feature Overall, it's not big deal, you just have to plan the positions of your hose from begin. I'm getting really comfortable with the LDCad. After struggling at the beginning, it's really fun to work with it. So, the move from SR3D is accomplished .
  12. Thanks for the hints. Yes I've turned it on, but it works only on some bricks. And I'm little bit more comfortable with spin-mode. Overall, it's really powerful software, when you really dive into it (currently getting used to the flexible parts templates ) . It lacks real tutorials with commentary, however. Roland made some how-to videos but it's sometimes hard to follow what he is doing. I was also looking for information about exporting (using) the animation outside of LDCad, but found nothing.
  13. 6624-1: Delivery Van [Town/Vehicles - 1983] Download: 6624.ldr Errors: Wrong Sticker I tried LDCad again. It took quite a time to build this simple set, but I get slowly used to it.
  14. 6689-1: Post-Station [Town/Postal - 1985] Download: 6689.L3B Errors: Mail Sticker is not correct
  15. 6651-1: Mail Truck [Town/Postal - 1982] Download: 6651.L3B Errors: LDraw - none Render - Logo on the van is flipped horizontal. It's an error of importer, I tried every rotation of the sticker in LDraw, but it was always imported with wrong (same) rotation. Edit: I've updated the transparent materials in the importer, so the render looks a little bit better as before. I also managed to import the mail sticker with correct rotation, don't really know, why this happens.
