  1. sorry if any of this information exists elsewhere in these forums but I can't find it. I've been looking into getting into Pad Printing Lego and could really use some help with recommendations. What kind of inks work best on Lego and where to purchase them? And services in the US that will make plates for you? I assume this is a lot easier than making your own. Any particular YouTube videos that are helpful. I will post some I learned stuff from. It seems like machines are really NOT that expensive. At least smaller ones. I'd be OK with taking a plunge for a larger one, but need to be convinced everything will work before I plunk down serious cash. Any other tips or tricks? Thanks in advance.
  2. I had a rep tell me to clear my cache in the past and that has worked for me. I would also recommend using a screen capture plug in to do a capture of your order. It will make reentering it not so painful.
  3. OK, so I decided to look at the page counts to see if there was something to it. Yes, the book has twice the pages, but also much more than twice the cost. ALSO as someone who likes nice books, a book that is half cardboard is super cheesey looking and a waste of space, unless you plan on hiding something in there. I could always justify $15 on a nice figure, but $40 is excessive. Star Wars - HC 160 pages - $14.79 DC Super Heroes - HC 128 pages - $15.39 Ninjago - HC 128 pages - $17.67 Nijago Secret world - HC 96 pages - $13.11 Lego Minifigure - HC 256 pages - $40
  4. I was just about to let you know those books are usually $17 when I decided to just double check. $40 dollars!?!?.. What the flying saucer are they thinking. $40 is not OK.
  5. nice build. What is the transparent piece used for the head?
  6. Hadn't heard that, and if true, would make a lot of sense.
  7. Not a 'reason' so much as an excuse. For as much as I love it, for as long as I've known about it, I've questioned if Bricks and Pieces is profitable. I think it's the best kept secret in Lego, and I don't think that's a coincidence. I don't think Lego ever had any reason to promote it, When it went down, and it often did, nobody seemed in any type of rush to get it back up. Even without the Corona virus I've wondered if it was just a matter of time before they removed the option to buy entirely. And of course, I have no idea why corona had to shut bricks and pieces down in the first place. Without the benefit of seeing the facility, it doesn't seem like the type of operation where people would be on top of each other. With gloves, I won't expect the virus to spread on the Lego. Seems like 1000% safer than working at any place one is actually dealing with the public. At times like these I think we need to find MORE ways to employ people in internet based retail. Trust me, I feel bad for putting that question out into the universe. Bricks and pieces is the best.
  8. With Lego closing Bricks and Pieces because of Covid 19, is anyone else afraid they may never open it back up?

    DC Super Heroes Wishlists

Yes please. These probably represent at least a few of the most popular charters we haven't gotten yet. Constantine, Sandman, Swampthing, Death. Deadman. Doompatrol. Spectre. Ironically, Sandman and Death are probably the most popular and yet the only ones who have had neither a movie, or small screen appearance. (Sandman in Morty's mindblowers not withstanding) Maybe a Justice League Dark movie will change that. I've been saying this for years. I know it's not DC, but still kills me we got TWO versions of an electro movie version no one will ever remember and still waiting on the classic version. Of further insult is we got a duplo version??? What the heck?

    Super Mario 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

Interesting point about Ninjago. I really feel like the gimmicky aspect was more of hindrance to the theme. My comment about the CFM and sets was more based on what I've seen Lego do with Disney and Lego Batman. Like you will get the core figures in CFM and then Goofy gets put in a $200 set. Or you'll get some jail outfits or disco outfits in CFM, but then the others will be in large sets. I'm sure some people will call that "smart", but it's just not a practice I'm fond of.

    Super Mario 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

I feel like I say this like a broken record on this site, but I remember quite vividly what I liked and didn't like as a kid. Its really not much different from what I like now and what my kids like now. Only difference is their attention is getting split in a lot more ways then mine ever was (in the 70s and 80s). They'll end up doing the minifigures (CMF I assume?) that every is asking for and soon everyone will be mostly happy. Only thing I see them doing which I personally won't like, is putting 3 of 4 figures of a "set" (from any one game or theme) in the CFM series and then the forth will be in a $100+ or $200+ set.

    Super Mario 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

The interactive play of Hidden side engaged my son for about three minutes. i can tell you he's not going to have any interest in this. I'd say maybe he's at the tail end of the age range (he's 11) but he's still way into Super Mario. I still very much remember what I did and did not go for as a kid (at 7 to 10), and I really think this would have been an easy pass for my 7+ year old self.

    Super Mario 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

Doesn't take a fortune teller to know this won't do well without the minifigures. Really crazy no one at Lego pumped the brakes on this. That said, my personal ideal situation is all the expensive sets DON'T come with minifigures and then they just do a CMF series.

Latest news about Lego animal moulds

You can tell from just Bricklink prices that people definitely collect the animals.

    LEGO Store "Build a Minifigure"

Easter figures now in the NY stores.

    LEGO Store "Build a Minifigure"

yes, and I've since found it. A store employee had included it with all the new exclusive Halloween parts so I was not realizing it was from a previously released construction worker. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=973pb2922c01&idColor=4#T=C&C=4
  18. Speaking of BAM, I was more excited about the Jack Frost BAM figure than all of about two of the series 20 figures. I assume they needed to put the turtle (and drone for that matter) in a CMF line to justify the mold, but yes, turtle could have totally been a BAM addition and didn't need to take a coveted spot in the CMF line. I also find myself hoping for more BAM exclusive figures (average of $3.5 per figure) and a lot less excited about paying $5 per CMF.

LEGO IDEAS 21326 - Winnie the Pooh

The way I've felt about it is this... For most human charters a normal printed head is fine. The problem is it seems to be becoming a 'rule' for all human characters whether they are animated or not. When these characters are cartoons but NOT highly stylized, like the Scooby Doo gang, Peter Pan or even Aladdin, it looks fine. When the charters are highly stylized, like Woody, Buzz, Mr. Incredible or the Flintstones, you just completely loose the resemblance to the characters and the figures just look cheap.
  20. I understand the diver is just a big excuse to do the turtle, but could they find another excuse to do a turtle, one that hasn't been done too much already. I wish the pirate didn't feel so mailed in. I'll get it anyway, but doesn't look nearly as well done as the viking.

LEGO IDEAS 21326 - Winnie the Pooh

I agree this is a pretty interesting idea as it makes a lot more sense (scale-wise) with a Christopher Robin figure. I guess my preference would be 1) figures with molded heads, 2) animal molds >>> 3) Brick built (which I don't think will capture the likenesses) >>> 4) printed on regular figures (which would look awful) 1 and 2 being reasons to buy, and 3 and 4 being reasons not to buy.

LEGO Ideas - 123 Sesame Street

Funny, this didn't really occur to me (and I do remember the humans from the show). I totally agree that Jim Henson and Frank Oz are the most important humans on the show. I have to say I would be a lot more excited to get Henson and Oz then Gordan and Bob.
  23. To echo what a lot of people have been saying.. that site has already cost me about $50 extra on top of the $100 or so I've just normally spent in Bricks and Pieces over the last 4 months.
  24. Does anyone have that URL handy that listed the added pieces?
