wow this is very interesting! clever design! this one too! the concept is definately interesting. I myself use custom made planetary gears and turntables a lot, but never used the 28t turntable this way! Edit: watched second time and saw you are using 46490, not custom made. still very interesting! -

So after the 4 sequential gearbox with new parts from 42159 failure on heavy load, I designed a new one, which is just 2 shifts, with symatrical planet gear like design to distribute the load, it successed on 4 buggy motors power! However today I wanted to push the limits and added 2 more buggy motors, it can generate 326 grams of down force! With a total of roughly 12A currents, that's 140 watts of electric power. That's the new record for me, but shortly after this run, when I run it again, it failed, turned out one of the planetary carbon axle melted the beams that holds it, 3 beams were destroyed. Just like I said earlier, even with symatrical design the planet gears would also cause trouble, but it is indeed effective, compare to my original 4 sequential gear box design, which is not symatrical. This gear box has gear ratio of 1.8 & 0.6, so you can guess that I used 8 teeth gear, this is dangerous though, it can only work on the planet axle, because 8 teeth gear can handle max 3 buggy motor torque, any more than that it could be deystroyd instantly. So my conclusion is, a lego gearbox can only handle 4 buggy motors power at most, any more than that, you need more gearboxes(Which is what I'm going to do on my next car). I think diff lock has very low load, the lock simply hold the wheel still that runs in the air. it should work there -

Absolutely. However most people play lego technic with very small power motors, look at all these official sets, no one even use more than 2xL motors for the drivetrain(correct me if I'm wrong), which is equal to just one buggy motor power. When you play with 4 buggy motors or even more, things are very very different. I cant even imagine using rc brushless in lego through lego gearbox, one rc brushless can have 2000 watts transient power, that would melt any plastic beam holes... Nothing wrong with small power though, it's us who are like maniacs using big power in plastic lego -

Because under torque the ring would be pushed out of the clutch, and it would also be hard to put it in the gear in the first place. However You have to have a real load in your system to test the robustness in your setup, just running it idle won't show you any serious problems. Contiuous load is not easy to build, I use a propeller, I can generate 300 grams down force with it, imagine the load.(FYI this force can lift DJI Mavic mini drones) And a gear box motor can not really hold it in position in heavy load, unless you use a worm gear. For you question do you mean this one? You can put it in, it's very loose. but no, no click. -

I happen to disembled the gearbox for the 24 toogh gear with clutch, and my conclustion is the same. New ring groove is too shallow to handle any serious torque, you can put it with the wave selector and make it work, just much more easier to fail than the old ring. And by my defination that is not compatible. Also with the old ring and 3 L connector, you can lock it in place by a "click", with this new one it was locked by the 8 teeth yellow big gear and rubber band + beam in Yamaha design, if you pair the new ring with the old orange wave seletor, you gotta figure out a new way to lock it in place yourself. But in the end it's lego, you just do whatever you want with whatever way you can do. don't let a word of "compatible" or not restrain you:) -

You mean this one from OP? My bad, didn't pay close attention, it's indeed impressive, I would never use so many u joints in a moc like this, I would worry so much about broken u joints or slipped out axles -

Yes but in lego mocs it's mostly twin drive shaft for tatras I think, left side & right side driven by different set of motors. For your twin beam suspension I thought you can also use this method. Left & right wheels won't be aligned though(and that would be like real tatras). -

Nice job done! I use metal u joints and carbon axles myself too, also rc tyers, but didn't go all the way to metal bearings and custom parts. Buggy motors are powerful enough for lego builds, so I didn't try brushless either. Do you have videos? -

yes that's my thought. plastic axles generally deform first, so I won't use them in any situation with a torque higher than 3 buggy motors(or higher than one xL motor native output) -

you broke the connectors before the axles they hold broke first? did you use carbon axles on these?
