Latest impact of other themes on historic themes

A recolor of the Ninjago baddies' one available now? A human that wears a wolfmask in natural colors with a Wolfpack torso would still be cool and very creepy for a group of bandits. That would be relatively cheap for Lego for the CMF, so an animal is still likely. -

For re-use, the Aarakocra parts could be recolored to gray for a statue or decoration for any City or Modular. Dreamzzz is into birds this wave, so a dark minifig version could be viable in that theme. The Lady of Pain mask would be great for more Carnival dancers! Vidiyo had a leaf based one, but Lady of Pain fits a feather style. Big headdresses show up in a few cultures.- 614 replies

I've never purchased a full CMF set before, but will for this series. How come so many places can sell a set at less than retail? Or is it only cheaper for pre-orders? And the set's elf ears are now on PAB!- 614 replies

Botanical Collection - Rumours and Discussion
Mopasali replied to Vilhelm22's topic in Special LEGO Themes
With the Chrysanthemum and Plum Blossom sets unveiled, Bamboo and Orchid are pretty much confirmed to be coming (official description and box art shows the two others). I like the purple orchids in Isabela's flower pot, but I'd rather have the Botanicals version. What color orchid do you think we're getting in this subtheme? I'm betting on yellow, but I really want more purple. -

My ideal is a kraken as well. One of the classic Lego animal is an octopus, they've done several brick built octopus/squids in Creator line recently, and one of the leaked D&D CMF has a tentacle face. I also want my Viking village to convert into Greyjoys from Game of Thrones. A kraken would also appeal to Pirates fans. For non-animals, a rose would be fun for British history. But you can MoC a shield/banner in many different color combos with the one stud flowers. -

Apparently the HP ones on the ship are stickers, but I'm hoping not. They're really good designs! -
I really want to see the back of the coaster. It's supposed to have an arcade per leaks (and the sign), so I want to see the ideas there. The colors and theming are great! Very much in line with Friends Arcade 41708 with the trans colored panels. I still think Space Coaster has the better thrills for the size (and I have too many for other themes), but a fast corkscrew may beat it!

The current reindeer is pretty good for a general deer for the Forestmen (or Princess Mononoke MOC) and on Bestseller at Lego. But we need ones without antlers and a fawn!
-
I think they are real. In the treehouse, the purple butterfly is on a trans-clear bar to make it appear it's flying. No need to do that in a game! If these aren't the sets, I feel bad for the designers that made them painstakingly real builds for a game that can defy physical conventions. Perhaps Lego will offer instructions as a VIP reward. I bet the water sports set comes with a small boat to fit in the paved area.
-
Do we think that's the Water Sports and the Tree House? The top has oars, like a rental, but ping pong on top, so not as many water sports as I'd expect. In the bottom, there's a small tree coming out of one of the stands, so it looks like a set of tree houses.

Haven't all the animals in the Jungle subtheme been leaked though? Maybe not such a tight lid for City!

The other way to think it as the owner of the Blacksmith got it for cheap because it needs repairs? There's some missing roof tiles. Maybe the tax collector repossessed it for back taxes and rents it out to the blacksmith who is slowly repairing it with the carpenter from MTS. The real owner is in a debtors prison in the Creator Castle. -

Goat yoga! But that seems more likely for Friends line. Perhaps a mountain vacation scene? Or City landscapers? -
On smaller sets for summer 2024, there's a Robot Coaster rumored in the City line (60241), but it won't be anywhere near as large as the current sets because it's expected to be cheaper than the Space Coaster. There's a small Carousel (40741) available now (about the size of the retired Winter Village one). Friends is supposed to gets a waterpark, but the size of the mini-dolls will require customization likely. I'm interested in seeing the robot coaster to MOC different themed coasters, but that's because I already have 2 Space Coasters! One is Space, and the other is Western. Space Coaster does offer a small twirly as an official alt build, but only seats 2 :(

I would have exploded if we had to wait so long for MTS after all the leaks. I do wonder if the seemingly very early leak of the D&D CMF leak had anything to do with this early tease. But it's also tying in with whatever other 50th anniversary festivities are coming. The CMF series is coming so much later than the set. :(- 614 replies

You should check out the Lego team's bonsais in that instruction manual. Trees made of Minifigures! And they say Lego isn't that violent 🤢 The piece that they use in Superhero sets to get them some off the ground works for handles for homemade shields. Combine it with the snot bracket with a hole for the neck. You might have to pop off the arms to make it look less like defacing a corpse.... Or maybe use the Friends paw print tile as decoration for Wolfpack? -

I definitely get that *some* fans want more nostalgia, but there really are lots of Castle nostalgia pieces recently: Dragon Masters torso, Forestmen shields and torsos, Lion Kings bardings, torsos, shields, Black Falcons bardings, torsos, shields, several other factions shields, and the very affordable CMF 25 Bat Lord. Most of that is on PAB, too. And who knows what's on the horizon. Medieval is getting more true nostalgia remakes than any other old theme, except maybe Harry Potter (e.g., Beauxbaton's carriage and Aragog this Summer). But Lego is probably right to not just focus on nostalgia as even medieval fans have their own preferences between Kingdoms, Castle, Lord of the Rings, and Vikings, and you can't please all of them. And the prior faction stories can lock people into a set system rather than being creative. I don't have any nostalgia for particular factions, and I think there are fans like me that like Lego and like medieval settings in general. Generic parts can be used in different ways - historically accurate settings (lion decorations for Scandinavian kingdoms), classic mythologies (CMF harpy, CMF centaur, Forestmen for Robin Hood), or other IPs that are too adult for Lego (wolf for Game of Thrones, LKC warrior queen as Cintra in Witcher, Nexo Knights and Dreamzzz for undead in World of Warcraft, Monty Python's black knight, etc...). Maybe royalty or knights at a banquet need lots of beautifully printed clothing and accessories, but a green hat stolen from the Succulents set and a bow works for several different rebuilds, not just Forestmen. -

Disney fans tend to pay a lot for merchandise. Maybe I'm the odd ball, but I prefer MTS to Snow White Cottage for value and play - yes, more figures (10 vs 8), but it is one building with very similar Minifigures for almost the same price. It is an excellent interpretation from an iconic piece of culture, but it's one residential house ultimately with lots of similar accessories (several mining picks, beds, chairs, cups...) to accommodate the 7 dwarves. I like dollhouse style, but many fans do not, and it's the price of a modular! The largest animal is a bunny! No horse for Prince Charming. But the black Icons box is much better suited to the cottage. -

I'm not knocking Warhammer, but when I compare my Lego addiction.... Lego has advantages! Swap out a head or cape or flag and allegiances change without getting paint everywhere. Lego sets and CMF series are strangely a bargain in price.- 614 replies

To be accurate, orange carrots didn't exist until right after the medieval time period! We should get them in every color *but* orange! I recall there's a white one in a medieval set (LKC?) to serve as a parsnip? I'm American, and I don't know if most Americans would recognize a parsnip in the store, let alone in Lego. If we want cabbages, we need to wait for Avatar sets, but I think the only rumored Netflix series is Wednesday, not AATL. :( -

Interestingly they also had a contest for an artist to design the cover of the instruction manual! I'm not sure that's happened before in Ideas, but clearly D&D and Lego were excited to work together!- 614 replies

The $215 leak was just one leaker though. Most were not surprised at $230. Re Viking Village, in my calculations, 4 Minifigures for $130 is less value than 8 at $230. And I don't need armor in a civilian set, especially now that D&D CMF is going to be absolutely loaded with armor, weapons, and shields. I appreciate that we got a helmet and visor as the sign of the inn. Two capes are surprising, but 6 new prints??? Curious if D&D will reuse any. The hit that MTS got is that CMF goat came out before it. This set still may have 'paid' for it, but it didn't get the praise. And leaks, comparing to what is possible in an unlimited budget without prices, really make reveals lackluster in comparison. I do wonder if some of the townsfolk on LKC were actually in MTS originally? The sets were designed together, and they didn't want repeats assuming LKC buyers would buy MTS (maybe not the other way around). Maybe LKC price was upped to include more people in a very expensive set rather than downgrading this set. -

Wow, it seems like that hint was for a D&D CMF! Discord and the D&D thread here have the full description of what we're getting. Probably no classic faction shields and no jester, but lots of fantasy figures. MTS went for realism, especially in comparison to classic series, possibly to distinguish from LOTR, Snow White and D&D. -
