  1. Cheap to produce, but maybe not to design with all the play features? And we are not sure how long the negotiation with LucasFilm was/is. I sadly missed the original wave, but due to KotCS not being well-liked, did the sets for the trilogy sit around a lot? Perhaps Lego is unsure how popular the theme/movies will be with kids and AFOLs and is worried about pricing especially with a movie that's got constant naysayers and speculation. All the more reason to buy them immediately to show the interest. Need a reason to get my nephews to watch the original trilogy too :)
  2. My thinking is that 77015 is equivalent to JP's T. Rex Breakout as an 18+ diorama, and any other sets are equivalent to this year's JP anniversary sets. My love/nostalgia for Indy and the original JP is probably equivalent, and I'm much happier with the three sets in Indy's theme than the playsets JP is getting this year. I'm buying all three. Maybe we'll get more, maybe we won't. The only impact a bigger revival will have on me is holding off on buying the original series second-hand.
  3. We are supposedly getting a Space-themed coaster in he Creator line this Summer, so even less likely (but I'm treating that set as Space Mountain no matter what!). May be another reason against Main Street - Creator line is getting one this Summer too. Although Lego has said they don't want similar sets on sale at the same time (nixed Newspaper HQ in modular line because Marvel's Daily Bugle), I'm not sure that's very true, as we've had Disney castles and Medieval castles at the same time, City and Friends grocery stores, .... We have a micro version from Disneyland, but yeah Disneyworld's would be amazing. Anyone know which is featured on the movie? Personally, I would love Disneyworld's Tower of Terror, even if it's less loved and too similar to the Haunted House with falling elevator. But it seems fitting for Disney 100 because the era of the ride is Hollywood's golden age and close to Disney's founding date. Curious how fans would react to it's a Small World model. An awesome collection of Minifigures for sure! And Lego hasn't pioneered music with it's sets yet....
  4. In response to Ke coming back as Short Round possibly affecting the ToD set, Lego/Lucas may want to emphasize his character in the set for older and newer fans. For example, they could make his Minifigure extra-special, revise it according to his specifications, highlight his Minifigure in the marketing of the set, give the Minifigure more accessories, etc. The new Minifigure may be just the same as the original leaked photos were blurry), but if Short Round's legacy is continuing even as a cameo, a redesign and increased budget for him may be appropriate. Even just the focus on Ke winning an Oscar and being an all-around darling in the lead-up could boost viewings of ToD the movie (and Goonies?) and encourage Lucasfilms/Lego to spend some effort on the accompanying set, either on marketing or improvements. Indy is a fun movie for those that grew up with him, but having a well-designed kid Minifigure could really expand the theme's audience.
  5. Especially if the decision was made with Lucasfilm, I could see them holding off on releasing ToD until they know if Ke wants to revive Short Round. Seeing Spielberg and Ford so excited for him at the Oscars cemented that despite ToD being the objectively lesser of the original trilogy, it is my childhood favorite. And Short Round was the best and most competent kid sidekick to an adult ever. I'm hopeful they may release or upgrade ToD, but even if it never comes, I'm adding a Short Round to my Indy sets regardless (even if he's made up of generic parts). If we're getting Loki 2 sets, Ke's character better be included!
  6. Looks like release is coming very shortly. Jays Brick Blog cites Lego's Hungarian Facebook page for official release photos of 77015. I assume link is okay because it's official Lego and not a leak? Link
  7. I'm curious the stats on "in time." I'm a recent returning fan, so I don't know the history of releases, especially for movies. My understanding is that we're also anticipating an April 1 release for Land Rover, and there's been no word. For pre-orders, sets seem to get some advanced warning, but not that much. I don't follow Avatar theme, but some research indicates that it was ~10 days from announcement to release for sets based on the original movie. While some are concerned because Star Wars sets are being announced now for May and August releases, with the release of the Mandalorian new season, there is some built in hype and an obvious date with which to coordinate. LEGO obviously had plans for release announcements for two major lines with Mandalorian show's release date and Mar. 10 being an unofficial Mario day. For the original trilogy of Indy, the streaming rights are not with the owner of the Toy license, so one company isn't controlling the marketing for both. The only date I can foresee that would hype the original trilogy other than the date for the sequel's release is that the Disneyland ride underwent refurbishment and is reopening end of March in time for Easter and Spring Break in the U.S. I want to know about the series, but it doesn't seem that Lego always announces months/weeks in advance, especially for a series of largely playsets that are going to not be limited in quantity and require AFOL fans to budget and to preorder. It seems clear that while some retailers may not get immediate access (the Netherlands store had a June listing), Target (arguably Lego's biggest partner in the U.S.), Smyth's, and (based on early sales) small stores in the US will/already have immediate access to the series. There's no need to announce relatively early to preorder a series that's going to be this available.
  8. Any of our Dutch friends know if Brickshop typically gets exclusives and/or Dutch get delayed releases? E.g., Target and Walmart in the U.S. get exclusives for a time/permanently, which is not happening for Indy based on random early sales, but the size of the American market might not translate to other countries.
  9. I like that theory :) I'm no graphics expert, but I feel like it's from a screen rather than actual boxes? There's some graininess in the pics that I don't think are from the camera. I find this part fun; the detective work and figuring out Easter Eggs and being delighted at others' ingenuity. It should be lighthearted silliness, but sometimes the leaks get people too invested. This is something we can MOC ourselves. I have the ToD bridge scene by combining Han Solo on the Monkee Kid bridge set with a CMF and an alligator. You can MOC adult oriented material by mixing figures and playing with who the actor is in more kid-friendly roles. I want the mine cart run, but maybe Gringotts (and just teased Donkey Kong?) will have one that I can get after market. Of the plastic model sets, I'm happy to be a Lego fan because while the themes are fun for hype, I can do it myself with minor tweaks.
  10. We really need a sticky of the actual facts we have.... Thanks about the info on the Nuremberg Toy Fair! That's a new one for me
  11. Brickshop has it at 8 x 20 x 7 (inches). Under the read more (where Temple is also referenced).
  12. Ooh, new theory. I thought early leaks were that the sets were exclusive to Lego and one other retailer until the bigger release, but sets in small stores undermines that. Maybe ToD is an exclusive set for select retailers? Even if it's $80, Target will probably have heavy discounts, maybe limited to them.
  13. I'm a fan of Target, but I'll hold off on that cost until official reveals. They have odd pricing on everything in their stores (and their scans have been off). And they have weird Lego pricing too, with big discounts too.
  14. And perhaps suggest that the set wasn't cancelled months ago as some leakers indicated? Above, a commenter stated shipping is 40-60 days, but if ToD was cancelled months ago and what we saw was very preliminary, then it seems they would have time to change the box art for the other sets. The months ago cancellation is also undermined by that one retailer with a (broken) page set for 77014. If it was cancelled early, I'm surprised retailers still thought it was coming. I'm more optimistic on delay then. But while I feel okay we'll learn about Indy soon post-Mario reveal, I'm not sure we'll get any insight on 77014's fate for awhile.
  15. Agreed. It seems crazy, but in my cohort Robocop and Terminator had toy tie-ins despite being R rated movies.
  16. That's my feeling too. I can postulate all day about why it got delayed, but I think it'll come out because it is so iconic. On the box leaks, fans were not excited about it, but on recent replies to LEGO in social media, demands for ToD/77014 are outnumbering Bionicle requests, which is insane for the adult fandom. Very recently, we had an announced set unceremoniously cancelled and then come out - Snow White Ideas set was cancelled, but it's rumored to come out this year with Disney's 100. It's very possible something 'cancelled ' is still released. In addition to some possible set design issues, we also learned that there's a mine cart coming with Gringotts Bank, so maybe they didn't want two mine coaster tracks at the same time. Although I really want that so I can have my ToD mine cart coaster that I never got in real life.
  17. I'd bet next week actually. We already have teasers for Mando and Mario, so I don't think they'll announce another release in between those teasers. As much as I want info, I can't really order the sets until April, and this forum and the leaks in general are doing a lot for hype. I am curious about the licensing for the original trilogy. Avatar, Star Wars, Marvel all stream exclusively on Disney, but the trilogy is available on other platforms. Disney may be driving the PR for the other themes more strictly under their control. Indy being in April doesn't have a connection, other than the reopening of Indy ride at Disneyland in late March. And an initial series to hype for the sequel, like Avatar, makes sense when the two are under the same control on streaming.
  18. An amazing diorama, especially with the action features. It really feels like an overgrown temple. I'm still psyched for the plane chase and Indy's Dad for later scenes, but the rest of the waive are so simple in comparison. Jurassic Park's Trex Breakout seems like a well-manicured garden vs. this set. That image said it was for preorder, so I wonder if the same will be for Lego? Admittedly, I don't know the differences from D2C, Shop@Home, etc., and distribution varies across the world.
  19. Up House and Disney Train are also there, so I think you're right, those are the set numbers. I think I see a 77012 (plane chase) on the far right on its side (last digit is hard to decipher)! There was a thought the series would be limited to select retailers for a bit before wide release with DoD sets/film, so this one seems to be one of the lucky ones. I'm still expecting the rumors of the theme's demise were greatly exaggerated or at least Lego sees how many pages on this forum (and a separate sub-reddit!) are dedicated to Lego Indy and releases it!
  20. Based on my count, of the sets supposed to release in April, we have not seen a small Minecraft series (maybe Brickheadz?) and the Icons Land Rover. New Star Wars was revealed last night at ~midnight Eastern, so it could be the first of a waive of reveals in April. I'd be surprised they push it to June as the big Star Wars sets come out for May the 4th, and I think the original Jurassic Park ones are slated for June. That's major overlap in the audience with nostalgia movies that came out near in time and especially for Indy with re-releases of sets.
  21. Sorry about the use of lingo! The abbreviation is very common in law (my industry), but shows up in entertainment forums too, and I defaulted to it.
  22. The SmtthsToys teaser looks like Lego IP though. I highly doubt that someone made it for Smyth's without Lego's approval because of effort/expense and risking IP issues with an obvious Lego minifigure image. Not to mention the IP of Indy itself. At the very least, that reference is to a Lego game. And if Lego or a retailer went to the effort to create a custom teaser, I don't think whatever is coming is a release with no fanfare. The anticipation is frustrating and fun, but it's almost over. I've been told in another forum news comes March 1.
  23. So intriguing. The only (likely useless) thought I have is that the ToD set is most like a roller coaster (which is why I wanted multiples!), and the Indy ride at Disneyland just underwent a refurbishment (opening end of March as of right now). So maybe Disney wanted the release of this coaster set to match its new Indy ride with possibly new features?
