Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread

I have so much hope for more news on this set before release day just because I'm impatient. I think it's more likely this set will get leaked than Snow White, which releases two days earlier, just given how many leaks we've gotten. Sunday is International Day of Lego, so maybe something official that day....? -

Ah, okay. I'm still learning the differences in how Lego markets sets, and where information from particular leakers comes from. I've seen in other forums that MTS is likely DtC and future leaks are unlikely, but wasn't sure where it came from. El Dorado was certainly relatively locked down in terms of leaks, which makes it seem like DtC. MtS has an odd release date, two days after Snow White, so maybe that tells us something about whether one or the other are DtC or limited to retailers. -

Are we sure MTS is DtC? El Dorado, also an Icons and a remake, is available at Target in the US. Even if MTS is DtC for a few months, I gather this fair has information for releases later in the year. We've also had several leaks of MTS (even after the survey), and leaks are very rare with DtC. -

I agree. The Harry Potter theme is a good source for peasant-like torsos with the high necked waistcoats/vests, cloaks, long sleeves, etc. Ninjago theme isn't as helpful, but the modest clothing, classic colors (no magenta), and lack of modern additions or prints works well enough. Modern themes like City really demonstrate how much t-shirts, jeans, and hoodies changed clothing!! I also would appreciate one or two more new factions even if to just show how my MTS is a cosmopolitan marketplace. The towerguard, crook, and the shieldsmith's wares hopefully get us some variety. I really can't imagine the Dragon torso in the Majisto GWP was made solely for a free set. And with it almost the Year of the Dragon, it's so appropriate this year! -

No insider knowledge, but I was basing it on the PAB prices. I'm assuming they are proportional to Lego's actual cost. -

I agree and assume the shieldsmith is there to give some love to fans of other factions and use the parts on PAB. Printed shields are apparently expensive compared to printed torsos! Within the Lego kingdom, it is intriguing that MTS is under the protection of a single faction with the Towerguard, but a tradesman can make shields of competing factions. Maybe the lead faction is okay with treasonous behavior as long as the tax collector gets his due? This village may not be that happy.... -

Or would you rather have multiple animals instead of multiple horses? For MTS, I doubt we'd get more than one horse, and instead get more variety of animals, which the fans will probably prefer. I would bet many buyers of MTS have either Blacksmith or Lion Knights Castle, where you got a horse(s) (or a Western or Paradiso or Beauxbaton's or Pirates). As much as I need more horses for jousting or knights, that's not the theme of this set. We do have a much harder time getting non-horse animals as farm sets are rare. The rumored animals from the leak image seem to match with the Minifigures' jobs - sheep for the tapestry weaver, cow for the cheese maker, and goat(s) for both. Pig wool wasn't in fashion then although horsehair was... If you want a particular horse, four colors are already available on PAB, but the white one has no bridle. A new color seems a bit much to add to such a broad selection. Black would stereotypically suit the criminal/crook, although dark orange/brown seemed to be in the leak. -

There's some brass and light marble statues too, so it doesn't need to be gray to be a statue. But there is some precedent with croissants, parrots, elves in Rivendell, and several angels in cemeteries. To save budget, I would love more gargoyles on buildings, as they can be brick built. I was just admiring Creator Castle model B's gargoyles/dragon heads! So few bricks, but great expressions. I wonder if I have enough grays to make a stone dragon.... -

If you're interested in animals, there's a leak Lego is reviving jungle/adventure themes in both Friends and City with an emphasis on animals. We already have a baby gorilla polybag leak. I think the Lion Knights need a real lion! -

Cool, so we should expect a free set with a new torso print for an old faction? :D It is really hard to compare a GWP on the larger side of GWP to a more expensive set. El Dorado is probably the best comparison, and MTS should have a better budget spend because it is 1) a companion not a remake and budget can be used in modern build techniques, 2) doesn't have to spend a lot of bricks to replace a baseplate, and 3) is following in a theme resurgence, so some key parts (torsos, shields, armor) can be reused. -

Do we know if MTS is expected to be a Lego exclusive? That determines likelihood of leaks and discounts to get multiples! :) -

What were the other 2 in your 6-pack? Curious if there are A and B, and your repeat was an accident (but still a common risk as in series past). You do have lots of medals now, so you can do Olympics or Star Wars ceremony!- 574 replies

So excited for this set after seeing the price on D&D. I'm sure the D&D set will look amazing and has some exclusive prints, but MTS is more affordable and probably adaptable, especially if the buildings can be dollhouse or fully-enclosed. -

I am enjoying speculating on the name of the inn as Broken Axes Inn and a connection to a faction. Is it a reference to a battle of Crossed Axes, fighting off a Viking Raid, a failed Forestmen rebellion, an impressive forest nearby... It's a highly specific name and appropriate for the time period considering Lego does generic names (Jazz Club) and puns (Moby Brick) in many 18+ sets. Since it was prominent enough for a leak, it could be a key piece of the set. I like brick-built signs, but a print on a piece that could double as a shield would be really fun too for MOC as a new faction. -

We have a leak of a new female pirate for BAM (as well as return of Lion Knights). That could be very reusable for multiple time periods and maybe even genders! -

Interesting! There's no rumor of a dragon in this set, and the dragons in the D&D set and Lunar New Year are green and red, not black. -

I'm skeptical it's January 1, but Brickcatch.com has it for that date. No idea how reliable that source is. And other than the survey leak, the other leaks about it came with Dune Ornithopter (Feb 2024 release) and Natural History Museum (Dec 2023 release). Maybe that suggests an earlier than April 2024 release, on which most sources are coalescing. -

The leak image seems to have brown/dark orange, but that could be preliminary. Original Market Village had a white horse. If we're getting the goat here, I'd love a gray horse (no spots needed to save budget) to evoke Mill Village Raid even more. Or, unlikely, a pinto to use in a Western scene. In the pic, is it the "crook"/Forestman riding the horse? If it's a true crook rather than an anti-hero, I don't see him riding a white horse at least. Brown is still most likely. -

What are you most worried about with "quality"? Minifigures, value for money, play features, stickers, etc...? The preliminary pic in the leak is probably somewhat similar to the final set and conform to other leaks, so it gives a good idea of what is coming. What I want out of this set is a more affordable medieval peasant/civilian set. Mill Village Raid and the original Medieval Market are very expensive on the aftermarket, especially in light of the value of the Creator Castle. Based on leaks, it seems the value is there for the size, parts, and variety of professions. Unlike El Dorado, it's not replacing a molded baseplate, which seems to compromise on typical value for price. If a door doesn't work, like in Majisto, it's Lego and can be modded for playability vs. aesthetic. I don't have a tie to classic medieval sets, and thus I don't need particular factions, professions, or characters represented. If it's Black Falcons, Lions, or a new faction, it'll work. It's also civilian, so no faction means it can be associated with any existing faction or it can be a largely "free" town. Although the leak of a tax collector and a tower guard suggests it's not a free trading post! Some faction is collecting those taxes!! -

I'd seen March or April a few months ago, but that seems to have been scrubbed. This is slated to be slightly more than the Mansion, which I think is the most expensive Jan 1 set right now, and a January release spaces out the expensive sets well. But the real question is when D&D is released in time for the 50th anniversary celebrations. These sets will probably have similar audiences, so I don't think they will release too close to each other. I'd love to get images in January if nothing else! -

I agree. I think they used the vest torso on the Blacksmith because it is gender neutral for a set with few minifigures. On a set with ~10 minifigures, that's not as critical for play value.
