Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread
Mopasali replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I hadn't seen people post this, but just2good got to have a casual talk with the designer in the fall. Similar information as the group talk Tiago posted, but there's closeups of the set as he talks through it! The designer really seemed to focus on the historical accuracy for this set, but the houses did go through a lot of color swaps in the design process. Note it seems the version shown in the video to fans has two more printed shields than what the revealed set has. -

I want gray too! I'm getting confident Beauxbaton's is getting gray because the big wings for Buckbeak in a current set are gray (but Buckbeak is white there). I think I'll hold off on ordering horses from PAB in the hopes for gray in that set. -

Is that it the designer video? If so, I do wonder if Beauxbaton's is getting gray flying horses instead of the prior version in white. I have no idea what color they are in the movie as they look different depending on the light, but there's versions they are a mottled gray. It's not medieval but that's the next set I'm excited for because I think the carriage can work with a medieval context and the ship should be really interesting in a pirates, Viking, or new land. -

PAB has a white horse without bridle that was used as a flying horse for Marvel if you want a non-yellowed horse. I may not buy white just seeing how much they yellow! I got back into Lego via Creator and its brick-built style. There are brick-built horses from a pre-molded horse era, so that's a way to get more colors and prints. I'll add snots to attach eyes. I do need to find brick-built oxen from some set or MOC, but there is a donkey on Rebrickable that looks good too. Harry Potter is getting a redo of Beauxbaton's carriage this summer, so we may see gray or blue there, but they will probably reuse the white one. -

Instagram and now Discord. Higher resolution at least. Still can't see the postings on the tree, but can see the guard's fluffy mustache, 6 new torso prints, Wolfpack return, a detailed tapestry, and edges of stickers. I'm still hoping many are prints... Any chance Kingdom's Joust is coming based on the tapestry??? And that's why Lego held their horses with this set? I'm building a version now out of Creator Castle. -

The one hanging may have multiple colors of spokes to suggest a recent repair? Yay for blurry rendered box art late at night! -

The knight is probably LK as you can see the colors on the top of the box, but the kid and lady innkeeper/baker seem to both have new torsos. Her hood seems different than the green one in LKC, but it could be the angle. Most of the figures torsos are blocked by arms or capes or too far in the back, but tax collector is probably new with new legs unless it is just Boromir! -

I don't have the original, but Rebrickable official pics doesn't even show the interiors of the buildings! I wonder if the interiors on MTS have more details that MMV pulled out for the box art. The set up of MTS box is also very deep, so that tree looks small because of perspective. I think it's at least two stories tall, and the original was about two stories tall (based on pics). If you move the tree to the center and put the buildings flat against the back, the scale may be more clear. A leak of a blurry box art sucks. Can't tell details like prints, see half the set, and the colors are not well-rendered. -

I think there's at least three prints for the inn, the little boy's house, and the blacksmith. Might be a print on the tree in the back. Shutter prints (not stickers?) look new too. It is low on animals, but seems to have a lot of interesting architecture pieces. The little boy's house seems to have a new door type with a lattice window? I'm thinking the hooded figure has white laces on the torso, so perhaps a reuse of Mrs. Blacksmith's green and white torso (to keep expectations basic)? Crook has a cape too. So many capes! -

It only has the front of box, so it is still hard to see torsos and detail of the buildings. -

The Discord was all abuzz about what time exactly it will be revealed.... And there's been a reliable tease about the set's goat in that discussion! (I don't want to steal the joy from the Discord and repeat the person's information) -

Interestingly, your link has the sale date as March 1 (it had been the odd March 3). Also March 1 is for insiders? That doesn't seem right as the preorder would be available for insiders before the release date? They are less confident than Brickclicker and say this week for the official reveal and pictures (per Google translate), while Brickclicker had said tomorrow (and added on the Discord unless something changes). Nothing is firm, and Lego may flip reveals of Snow White and MTS because Snow White leaked in full this weekend (and the reboot is a mess). I'm surprised they are releasing two medieval-style sets the same time at practically the same price point, and the same day as a castle goes up on the Designers Program, which is now coordinated with Lego. It seems like a similar audience would want all of those? Especially with D&D coming in April. -

While the survey leak image may not have the right color correction and even if the same colors are used, they'll look better, I still agree. I'm a little biased about the blue and tan/yellow combos in MMV and Creator Castle, but red and green is a little Christmas-y. I'm hoping I have enough bricks to color swap on my own, but what would you prefer? -

Some posters here have very good eyesight and do see chickens in that blurry photo. Reddit has used AI to try and enhance it if you want to try your luck! An alternative for chickens is brick built. The Creator Castle has instructions for two chickens and a rooster from basic pieces you may already have. I only have one from the Muppets CMF, and she's wearing eye shadow! -

It seems like it will get a marketing push, so I hope so! Not all sets get officially revealed 1 month out, and I think all by itself. Snow White's Cottage is the other expensive March set, but I don't think they'll be announced the same day, although they may go well together. I hope it is a goat in the reveal, maybe standing on one of the roofs while the townspeople below look for him? -

I don't have nostalgia for the 90s Castle sets, but that era's peasant torso (the one Majisto had) is so versatile. I just got one used in gray, and it works for so many historical eras and for both genders. Personally, I'd be happy to get that style on different colored torsos for our peasants in MTS. They can reuse the sand green version from Lion Knights for one peasant, but it does seem odd they couldn't do that print in the blue torso. Maybe bright blue is too fancy for peasants to reuse here? The kid's torso, a reuse from the CMF troubadour, might be reused for this jester, but reusing it twice seems to really undermine the exclusivity of the CMF one, especially if we get the forestman's hat again in blue. -

And we've gotten to the torture each other phase! How about it's random blind bags on your faction? Or some people get goats, others get the Friends line goat! Seriously if we're getting so few medieval sets, it would be fun to get a way to customize the set to your faction or allegiances. Harry Potter theme got enough bricks to color the Magical Trunk for the different houses, so there is precedent. Just a few different colored flags and enough printed shields that the tower guard have options. Or have a prisoner that's not a skeleton and then that torso can swap with the tower guard. (If there is a tax collector and tower, there has to be a debtors prison.) -

His version has an open air first floor for one of the buildings. I like that in the original MMV, but I don't see that in the survey leak. I hope his vision is closer to what we get! -

The Creator Castle and Blacksmith both have wells if you need one. Elsa's Market Adventure (41155) has a really simple medieval push cart design with some color. The Winter Village Market and Dreamzzz Village have good market stalls too. Dreamzzz Village is available and affordable (compared to a similar Disney Princess) and the colors aren't too ridiculous for a historical era. -

GWP is different. There are some GWP that get exclusive prints, but most do not. I wouldn't be surprised if the dragon faction torso gets reused here. Perhaps instead of a new dragon clip, they recolor the dragon mask from the Lunar New Year set? The Lunar New Year sets do get a lot of exclusive prints, but a dragon mask (when there's a CMF version) could work in other themes too. I can't tell if the Lunar New Year mask has a spot to clip a face guard, which could explain the need for a new mold. -

I'm hoping there's no stickers, and to save budget for torso prints, I like the idea of brick-built tapestry. The Friends Theater has a version for a backdrop featuring the yellow castle! Tiles on a large plate offers many possibilities. I might do that for my Creator Castle regardless. -

Potato quality may make factions hard to discern. Animals should be easy with the same quality as the survey leak photo. I'm on the fence with bad photos - the sets always look better in real life and on the box. The bad photos tend to frustrate people and then these threads become depressing rather than fun. One thing we can speculate is that there could be a tapestry for the tapestry weaver. Likely a sticker? Would it replicate a Lego battle or be motifs? I'd like it to be double-sided so you could have multiple designs on display. Or maybe one shows a faction winning and the other side, the other faction wins! -

Ah, we're getting leaks for some of the bigger sets releasing on March, including pics of Snow White dwarves, Speed Champions, and the higher end Dragonstone temple. Nothing on MTS :(. But I assume Snow White will be Lego exclusive like MTS, and if we're getting leaks, maybe MTS will get some too??? *hopes* -

Ha, true. But we can also speculate about factions, colors, and animals endlessly! For example, there were a surprising number of owls in the survey leak (like more than I've ever seen in my life in the wild). Harry Potter has an owlery set releasing at the same time (already on the Lego site). Will they reuse some of the new recolors from the HP set? Is there a new owl-based faction? Will the CMF Falconer and an MTS minifig with pet owl have a bird of prey battle? With a leak of gorgeous Creator Fox, I want a fox in the set now. My Medieval Blacksmith dog needs a job protecting chickens and sheep! -

Or just torture us with cryptic messages and images like Lego's social media posts? Did you all see the Missing Goat poster in the Ninjago set? They gave us a literal red herring in the CMF. I'll admit I love it.
