  1. Compare it to 2015 also - 42043 beats 42070 into the dust with it's crane, while 42042 picks up 42069 and throws it into the garbage. Then you have 42039 and 42040 as quite appealing smaller sets and there is just no contest. Maaaybe it doesn't look too bad compared to 2014; but still the flagships cannot be compared in my opinion. It's just that the rest (apart from 42025) weren't too spectacular. In the end, it's really the stellar lineup of the last two years that makes 2017 look especially poor.
  2. Two points: 1) Those prices are ABSURD. I might have considered buying the sets just because I am a completionist but at those prices? Forget it. The most expensive parts - PF - I already have and I think I can bricklink the rest. 2) That's not 42050 Azure, which makes it doubly disappointing as I quite like that color.
  3. 42070 - 1862 pieces (XL + M motors, RC receiver and one remote). Not very Flagship-worthy if you ask me. This is basically CLAAS level, so just maybe there is a "secret" 42071?
  4. More pics here: https://www.instagram.com/promobricks/ There seems to be some sort of Combine-3 thing going on for the anniversary.
  5. I'm afraid that's just wishful thinking. We may see 42067 at some point, but honestly, I think these 3 sets are it for 2H 2017.
  6. That's all I wanted! Not some cool color like white/lime/black or even yellow... purple! I think it's not a battery box but just a function switcher for 42068. 42069 looks like it will look very bland without stickers... Just compare the two photos above - upper with older sets and lower with newer sets. The older sets look so much more elegant!
  7. Oh my god. No, no, no, no, no. I had such high hopes and THIS is what we get? Also, no 67?
  8. Oh my, that Gravitrax looks sweet. I first thought it was a continuation of the Lego GBC theme in some super sleek Technic before noticing it's Ravensburger.
  9. Have you ever considered making a C-model competition? I think it would really get the creativity going with limited parts and it would be great for people not participating as well, since they would get something new to build with their sets.
  10. Is that also coming this week?
  11. 8z gears suffer from the size compression methinks. I'm looking at them on a 42inch TV at 4K resolution and I can just barely amke out the hole in them. Makes them look more like a star than a gear.

Great modern style! Any chance for interior pics?

    Modular B-Models?

In Technic, most of the sets come with instructions for a B-Model that uses the same parts as the original. People than like to see what they can come up with given the restrictions to make so-called C-Models. Similarly in Creator, we have some 3-in-1 sets that follow the same principle, and Lego is now testing their new Ideas platform by asking people to make a fourth set with the parts. Have you seen something similar attempted with a Modular? Looking at my collection, it is obvious that the newer modulars follow a slightly different design which makes it strange to line them up on one street with the older ones. I was wondering, whether it would be possible rebuild say the Town Hall or the Green Grocer to make them slightly smaller to fit the generally lower skyline of the new sets (and in case of TH there could be enough pieces to go 48 wide or inside corner) and whether anyone has ever tried.
  14. Well, I have waited since August, I can wait another week for Nuremburg.

    Ballabreek 2017

I would just like to say I love what you are doing with making your town come alive. Are you making these stories for yourself or do you have any kids/other AFOLs to share them with? I have long thought about building an actual town with scenes like your crash in the first post, but since I don't personally know anyone interested in Lego (on such a scale) and the kids are still too tiny to make any sense of it, I couldn't find the motivation. I always get excited but then I think to myself it would be a waste of time with no one to show off to.
  16. I'm afraid Lego already does that with their Speed Champions line. The scale (and consequently details) you could do for a 25$ set would make it look very lacking, in my opinion.
  17. No, they are significantly bigger.

    10255 Assembly Square

Get the Pet Shop now, while the price is still reasonable. If you don't mind, get it used for BL to save a bit. I wouldn't wait too long on AS though as I fear it may go the way of Town Hall.

Late to the modular game *update pg 3!*

I am in a very similar position with lots of primary colors and after trying to build a few modulars myself, I must say that it's really not ideal. Even with plenty of flourishes and little details and decorations, a primarily bright red building still looks very out of place in the current modular line; same with other primary colors. The only thing I can see working would be a blue-white-grey police station. Think Parisian Restaurant but with blue instead of olive.
  20. I'm liking this set less and less. At this point, I might just get it as a parts pack for the Azure parts, if the price and contents are good enough.
  21. This is how I feel as well. I suppose if the years were switched, with 2017 already out and 2016 coming out for the anniversary, I would be perfectly fine with it. But it seems as such a shame to have the 39th year be, at least from what we know so far, much better than the 40th. Something like the first licensed Supercar really screams anniversary to me, for some reason. I am assuming the blue is the 42050 Azure, right? I'm not sure since that red doesn't really look red, but more pinkish.
  22. No kidding, I didn't even realize those were supposed to be headlights before someone said it earlier.
  23. Judging by the position of the Lego logo on the side, it looks to me to be 42043 depth. I happen to have both 42043 and 42055 boxes sitting right next to me and the depth is definitely not 42055 size. My guess is that it will be sub 2000 pieces if it contains 42030 level of PF, or 2500ish if it has less (as it appears to with the single remote).
  24. Can someone please upload to imgur or r/legoleaks or anywhere? Otherwise the thread will just be filled with the same post over and over.
