    REVIEW: 7141 Naboo Starfighter

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone! Glad you all enjoyed it. No doubt! I bought it back in May and I think it's fantastic - very accurate for a system scaled set.

The Infiltrator looks pretty good from that angle, I have to say. I'd buy it if it weren't for Darth Maul's comical face, the bulky Bloodfin, and that stupidly high price. Plus, my budget is completely taken up by all of the Episode VII sets.

    Star Wars

New behind the scenes footage from SDCC for Episode VII! I couldn't be more excited. If it can have even the smallest fraction of the impact that the OT had on me, I will be wholly satisfied.

The fact that you'd lose your mind means you're in anticipation which means you're hyped. That being said, I'm sure we'll see something from SDCC. They had a "Force Friday" poster on the convention floor so it looks as if Lucasfilm will be showing some merchandise.

You're right, I don't buy it either. Teenagers with skin imperfections, that's preposterous!

It makes sense because comic book (AKA it's stupid and contrived but it sure does look cool!)

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion

The difference here is that the Indiana Jones line started with a wave based on the original trilogy. Unfortunately, I think this might be it for the Jurassic sets... I'd love to be wrong though!

I guess I'm more leaning to Spartan. The shape of the bottom and the slight angle to the front give me that sort of vibe. I could be crazy, that's just how it looks to me.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

Probably because Scarlet Witch was based on a movie. The designers used concept art to create the figures, so the hair piece or the powers don't match up exactly. Or at least that's my theory. I have no idea about the arm/leg printing though, that's beyond me! EDIT: perhaps it's the budget. Starfire comes in a much larger, more expensive set. Scarlet Witch is in a $30 set and a lot of that set's budget is spent on the Hulk. Unfortunately, that doesn't leave a lot of money for excess printing.

I'm liking the Phasma figure! I'm guessing she'll be included either in the Stormtrooper Transport or Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle. Her eyes are a little too far apart and (from the blurry picture) it looks like the helmet doesn't quite achieve the Roman-esque helmet shape, but it's very good. I wouldn't expect LEGO to make two entirely different helmet molds for the Stormtrooper and for Phasma.

I surely don't see it... So the Sith Infiltrator looks a lot better. I'm very interested to say the least. The Bloodfin has a very odd design though... I'll probably by it anyways. Qui-Gon's poncho could easily double as Luke's poncho. The craft is fine, I guess. And a new Maul is always a good thing to have!

The Sith Infiltrator is just way too chunky. It's a mess. I want to buy it to finally get a new version of Maul (the only one I have is from 1999) but if it is indeed $100 then I will pass. Hopefully a lot of the problems were fixed. This is a preliminary photo, after all.

What was the last movie you watched?

I just saw Mad Max: Fury Road. It was fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I'd go as far to say it's one one of the best action movies of the past five years, if not the best. Now, if you watched one of the trailers and thought something along the lines of: "this is ridiculous and stupid," then the film is not for you. Go see it. If you have any vague interest in it, I wholeheartedly recommend it. Great characters, practical effects (over 80% of the film was practical), captivating world, stunning cinematography, top-notch art/set/vehicle design, a real spectacle for the theater.

I sure hope he doesn't keep his mask on the whole time. Adam Driver is an amazing actor. I want to see him act a bit... And if, as someone pointed out, there is a helmet and a hair variant for Kylo Ren, I can almost guarantee that the helmeted version will be in the cheaper set.

I would be interested to see someone try their hand at the micro-vignettes seen during the loading screens. I would try it myself, but I don't have the eye or the patience.

Are we sure about that? Because: Honestly I'm confused. I guess I'll have to wait until May 1!

    Your favourite movie?

The original unaltered Star Wars trilogy will always be my favorite series to go back to. I wouldn't call them the best movies of all time, but they're a fundamental part of me. Part of me is copyrighted by Lucasfilm Disney. Some of my other favorites are: Annie Hall Being John Malkovich Frances Ha Her Raiders of the Lost Ark Spider-Man 2

    Star Wars Rebels

Just adding to the previous discussion, I'd say that Kallus and the Inquisitor are incompetent and the show knows it. Up until Tarkin showed up, I just thought that the showrunners expected us to accept that sense this is a show aimed at a younger audience, the characters in this universe are all just a little bit dumber than they would be in a film. But since the arrival of Tarkin, who comes to shake up the Imperial forces on Lothal, the writing is more self-aware. Tarkin is just as smart as he was in the original Star Wars. I love that the Imperials on Lothal are incompetent. I may be reading too much into this, but it sort of plays with the idea that the Imperials are stretched too thin and the quality of the troops and officers suffers because of it. Lothal is a random little planet in the Outer Rim, so going with that idea, the Imperial jurisdiction there would be weaker. Also, I believe that the Inquisitor is just one of many, and the one we see in the show just governs that sector of the Outer Rim. I don't have much evidence for this, except that Darth Vader refers to him as "Inquisitor," which could imply that this may be a title that many hold. Now, onto that season finale. I loved it. When I saw that multicolored TIE Fighter, I was prepared for the worst, but that turned out to be a great and unexpected payoff to the third (I think?) episode. The reveal of Fulcrom was nice. I was watching this episode with my friends, one of whom believed that Fulcrom would be Organa while I was in the Ahsoka camp, which led to many arguments on how writing and reveals work. When Organa showed up at the end, I was completely baffled. My friend started to call me out, and just when he thought he had won, Ahsoka showed up. On the topic of Ahsoka, I love her new look. And one little thing I noticed during the episode was a music cue lifted from the final lap of the podrace in The Phantom Menace. That soundtrack always makes me a little nostalgic (even if I'm not a fan of the movie nowadays). Anyways, needless to say, I'm excited for the future of this series. It has tremendous potential.
  21. I think that the blue TIE was justified. In Episode IV, the blue screen technology of the time wasn't advanced enough to distinguish a blue ship from the blue screen, so the crew changed the color to gray. Same with R2-D2, his blue panels are corrected to black in every scene where R2 is seen in space. In Episode V and VI, the TIE gray is a dark blue, as originally intended. This is reflected in the Kenner toys. Now, why didn't Lucas correct the gray to blue in the Episode IV special edition instead of, say, adding a rock in front of R2? We'll never know the answer.
