This is the first proper Lego Space scene I have ever constructed. The display is centred around Classic Space, but I've added some later items and parts (mostly acquired second-hand) for interest. I found most of the Classic Space items and figures at an exhibition more than a year ago, but it was Benny's Space Squad that proved the impetus for doing this scene. The background is from a Klutz 'Lego Make Your Own Movie' book/kit. The base plate was a dark grey clone brand (Wilco Blox) plate until I found two slightly worn classic 'moon' plates on sale for just £6 each in a small independent shop. I quickly snapped up both! What do you think? Any comments or questions welcome.

My first Lego space display
Bornin1980something replied to Bornin1980something's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Well, sorry about the lack of updates. As you might have just seen in another thread, the scene is now expanded, and the background has been replaced by a larger one from Bakku Backgrounds. How does it look now?- 11 replies

Do you think Lego will release new fire station set this year??
Bornin1980something replied to ks6349's topic in LEGO Town
It's the first City hospital since 2012, and by far the biggest. They're rare! There have been at least two similar hospitals in Friends, which could be adapted for use with minifigs. -

Interesting how these new elements and colours can help better recreate the '60s look. In particular, how did you get the pieces for the rear lights? I could use them.- 7 replies

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Bornin1980something replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
The Olympics are the opening act. It's the Paralympics that really interest me. But, TLG did introduce a minifig wheelchair for the 2016 Paralympics, in 'Fun in the Park.' Over the following two years, it appeared in one set each year, all of which I have. However, it did not reappear in 2019, or in any of the new City wave. I would like to see more of it, and not just at hospitals! -
Genuine question; are clone brand baseplates allowed as part of displays or backgrounds on this forum?

I've just acquired my third new set of this wave; 60242 Police chase. Both vehicles use the new 6x10 chassis. I've only assembled one so far, Duke De'Tain's Mustang. It's a great build, much like an old 6-wide Speed Champions car, but simpler and much smaller, lower than a stood minifig, or many Classic Town cars. The new chassis is good. Like the other two you depicted, it cannot be exactly recreated using existing components. While some argue that such a fixed chassis will stifle creativity, I think this one will do the opposite. Give a kid this, a wheel, and three other wheels (plus the rest of their collection!), and they have the basis of an awesome custom car. So far, the vehicles using it range from an open-top supercar to a very tall VW surf van, and no two are exactly alike. We will see many more over the coming years, though I do to see some more of this Mustang type design. That said, it will never match the versatility of the 1987 design 4x7. That chassis can fit into many scenarios, like the theft of mail order Lego! -
How did you photograph the models? In particular, how did you recreate the old style backgrounds?

LEGO Creator 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Bornin1980something replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I would love to see more family houses. There are none on the shelves at the moment. Genuine question; is this the only 3--in-1 wave this year, or is there usually another one? -

So far, I've bought two of the new wave. The first was 60248 Fire Helicopter Response. I wanted to try the flying helicopter, and I've always preferred fire to police (also, it was the cheaper set). The helicopter is minifig compatible, but completely studless, and I can't see a way to reuse the canopy. It lacks firefighting gear, and cannot be modified. It can, however, fly. To be more precise, it will take off, though I've found it only really works if I mount and pull the cord from the left. It then spins out and lands hard, but usually upright. I assume these hard landings are the reason it doesn't have any standard lego connections. The second one was 60255 Stunt Show. I thought it would be a nice addition to the Duke Caboom set I actually bought in Canada. -

Lego themes that we would like to happen
Bornin1980something replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Agreed, especially on the houses. We are overdue more family homes for minifigs. Now, this being an Olympic year, I would like to see some paralympians. You see, the Olympics are really just the warm up. The Paralympics are where it's really happening!- 451 replies

Seems there's a race on. Were you inspired by late 80s catalogue images? Also, that yellow car. How did you fit four minifigs into a small 6 wide? -

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Bornin1980something replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Looking through all the City years on Bricklink, I suspect City had its peak in 2010, when it actually included a family house and a private car. Since then, I suspect Friends has taken much of the market for everyday play, and Creator the market for enthusiastic builders. City has learned more towards 'boy's' action oriented play, though Friends also appears to be adding some action and adventure lately. That said, as a KFOL my own play could be action oriented. One of my favourite games was 'crashing' lego planes by simply dropping them! I later 'crash tested' cars with a non-lego catapult (judging them by how loose the minifig came). I have a few cracked elements. The difference back then was, Classic Town only provided the material, not the exact scenarios. For instance, I hate all the uniformed crooks! Why can't the crook wear something different, like no paaaaaaants!
