  1. That is for sure one kind of order, Also: all RC vehicles have been AWD/4x4 or Tracked: 8275, 8043, 9398, 42030 All steering has been with the servo motor or left+right track. All steering with servo motor has been articulated(42030) or front+rear axel (9398) TLG has so far not produced an RC vehicle with steering only on one axel and not all axels driven. Next year time for tracked RC vehicle again? Although I think that we get an RC wheel driven vehicle next year, more due to the fact that we did not get the servo motor this year, but the trend does not indicate a "regular" car RC operated since we have never got it so far. TLG looks for playability for the kids ie the 9398 and such?
  2. For some reason I get the feeling that at least the "Liftarm Bracket" is a bit too niched. Kind of reminds me of the worst TLG years back in the 90s where a lot of pieces were specialized and niched in absurdum. On the other hand, building everything with pins and beams never gets the same stability! I want to head over to Bricklink and stock up for outriggers to a massive mobile crane - and at the same time stick to classic building and build my own outriggers... 3. Nerds, this pic is for you I take the fun out of building, or: I am the Sheldon Cooper of building..
  4. It's understandable the book is that thick when a step can be like this.. And of course it is the old discussion whether aimed for Afols and/or the demographic 11-16 as the box says!
  5. Unpacked, sorted and counted! Tedious and time consuming? Oh yes! Relaxing and soothing? Oh yes! I always do like this for an entire set, never build bag by bag, so numbered bags are not an issue for me..
  6. Webhallen, Gothenburg city for me. They kept their promise of delivery today. Picking up both of them, 42042 and 42043 but will build the Arocs first of course..
  7. I got a V2 IR reciever with "37K2" as production time stamp. I have no idea from which product I got it, maybe from an 8043 that I bought for parts but never tested, or from an 9398 or 42030 that did work but now has detoriated.. How are my chances of getting a new one from TLG, warranty and how old is my IR. Did of course first some search in the threads but couldn't find anything applying to my case. Thankful for directions and experiences!
  8. Chassi, nothing more. Started as a borrowed idea from Sariel's latest Hummer but some ideas of my own have been incorporated along the way. Original thread: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=103470&hl= (Felt too old to bump!) All wheel drive. Independent suspension all around. Driven, indipendent suspension and Ackerman steering. Reinforced in a couple of ways but this is as far as at least I can do this. Linkage and all that, it is never a crawler in strength.. Threw in a third axel just for the fun of it! Could be a base for some kind of truck.. Center diff with manual diff lock, can of course be improved. Grinded my first gear ever in the center diff so that's where the weak spot is! Project is complete in LDD but retired in real life now. Just a project on my learning curve!
  9. Thanks, Did some thinking. V2 was not in 8043 or 42030. My mistake and assumption because I had 3 of them (1 from the 9398) and didn't do an inventory of the number of V2:s that I actually have. Seems I have 3 V2.. So, now I have figured out where one came from, if it isn't from my 9398...it came with a BL delivery of 4 XL motors where I accidentally got an IR shipped as well, and all is rectified with seller and we are all good of course! But the third one?
  10. My man cave in our house, not too bad Lego studio, assortments getting better and better.
  11. Excellent instructions and good quality! Still, this step I cannot really understand. I have browsed through the remaining steps and I cannot really see this 5L axle removed or being in the way, and the friction axles w/bush (black) they are not flipped in any of the remaining steps and really seems to do a good work as it is, right?
  12. Thanks for an excellent and nice answer! very good, I will remove the 5L since, who knows, dump bed or something else may be added later.. I am so far only familiar with LDD and have never made any stepping but I can really appreciate the work you and the other guys lay down on creating instructions and we are all extremely thankful for this :) Now let's see when the build can start. wating for a Bricklink delivery with some slopes and mud guards needed in the build. and the Aroc should be in my neighborhood in a few days..
  13. true true! But for oldtimers like me it takes some time before we adjust to new ideas and changes..
  14. Maybe the opposite, with correct reinforcement they may replace LAs for boom lifting? Longer travel and with worm gear you would get good precision and lock function.
  15. Very nice build and a strong one too. I wonder how his actuators for lifting the boom are constructed? Most probably an excellent job with thread/wire for extending all those boom parts!
  16. Dear all, Finally back in the Lego World. As a 43 year old guy I guess I qualify as an Afol. last time I was into Lego was around when I was 13. Took a break after that.. I am mostly a Technic guy although back in the days I did a whole lot of the 12V Train area as well. Started with "normal" Lego in my younger days and when Technic came I jumped on that 100% from the start, doing the 8860, 852, 855, 8848 and all the other beauties. My main area is probably cranes, mobile cranes in specific. Half a year ago I decided to get into Lego again, after have seen the 42009 Mark II crane. and I was sold! Now I have a nice little collection of flagships and interesting models and try to spend an hour or two almost every day, testing something, or learning something. I am into both pneumatic and LA and the right tool for the right job is my answer to which one is the best! I guess I will spend most of my time in the Technic forum but I will browse and lurk the other forums as well! 17. Thanks for the input, we'll have to wait for an update then, no problems.
  18. Yeah, but driving/steeing is one touch point - see pic of 42030 dash. Gear up/down second touch point. I can of course "pinch" on the iphone so two touch points should not be an issue..
  19. Today I retrofitted(?) the Madoca SUV mk2 with SBRick. no problems with the space, actually now has two holes in the roof that I forgot to fix... I used the 42030 panel in Iphone SBrick as dashboard for the SUV. It seemed appropiate. steering and driving in a joystick. shocks elevation in one lever and gearbox in other level. not perfect but I couldn't wait for a better dashboard However, one strange thing occurs with the communication with the SBrick device. Steering together with driving is really smooth and good communication. But when I change gear or change shocks elevation - while driving - the car stops and I have to move my driving thumb i.e. new signal so to speak in order to get the car moving again. Anyone can confirm this issue and ideas to a solution? It might just be that I should not use the 42030 dashboard, but hey, the signals should work together nevertheless!?
  20. ..and what a joy it was to build and what a joy to drive! I was at first a bit sceptical about building from photo instructions but Madoca certainly won't let you down. His pictures are immaculate and I have not had one single step that was impossible to understand or hidden pieces. Of course, your brain has to work harder than when following Lego's "1 piece per page" instructions...but good training and you build up your understanding for the setup a lot more. I look forward to more Madoca builds! Funny thing is, are we / I too purist sometimes when it comes to building a vehicle? This Suv does not have: Ackermann steering sturdy drivetrain, but CV joints and gearbox center diff But oh what a joy to drive and play with! And oh so good looking and good setup. In a few days I will replace IR with SBrick and look into a good car setup for theSbrick Iphone app. One thing to look into if you build this car, the beams around the gearbox can under stress separate the gearbox a bit meaning that clutch does not work as intended. See my 4th picture, I added a cross beam as a better-than-nothing solution but still sometimes the changeover catch cannot reach the technic driving ring meaning that you cannot change gear, And some pics, sorry for the quality, I have lighting problems in my man cave..Some wrong colors, didn't have all the correct ones!
  21. Yep, dont have the correct ones, but it's not that many millimeters in difference so it is fine once the shocks are lifted a bit! Sooner or later I will do that investment as well of course..
  22. Yes you are right. Well let's not make this an iphone vs android battle but I think that "bashing where it's due", Sbrick is a good thing and everything works as designed, but it takes time to take all those android models in consideration.
  23. Somehow I get the feeling that iPhone users experience fewer quirks with the app than android users do. Can't prove it scientifically though. Maybe a poll about satisfaction of app, per platform?
  24. My SBrick arrived today and everything was in really good shape. Maybe those stickers will be quite rare some day... Padded envelope but no issues with box or stickers. Maybe my mailman is nicer than yours..?.. connected to BB via PF cable was just firm and steady, no extra mold and no risk of popping out. Connection to Iphone5 (not 5s) with latest firmware 8.1.2 Some initial problems but no more than Bluetooth always gives you I would say. Connection came and went a bit but felt more and more stable? Upgraded firmware of SBricks as well, no problems with upgrade and connection but motors did not work after that. Connection with SBrick was good but motors did not move After a while and some BT reset, for good or bad, all was fine again! all good and exact control of motors. I am a happy buyer One thing, When controlling the motors via the drag bars (in App test mode), you can actually control them in so small steps that the motor will only make some electrical sound, not move, not even without load. Make sure you press Reset or are really really sure that you have the bar in center mode again, or your motor will burn... And some unboxing pics!
