Hello Fellow Lego Fans. Recently I designed a unique MOC, a classic Lego Street Sweeper that has modern features, but still give homage to the classic Lego Street Sweeper Sets including the 6645, 6649 and 7242. I researched each set, and noticed that their availability was becoming lower. So, I thought it might not be a bad idea to do an updated Street Sweeper version for Town and City builders as a possible release. Having to consider modern design aspects, I did try to "build-into" the MOC an easy conversion of the model for those wanting a more "true" town look. Likewise, in a Vintage City Theme, some design elements might not be correct for the time period. So, this design affords the ability of each interested parties to have the ability to "remove" far more than they might need to "add" to the design to make it fit their layouts. I would not consider this idea a "universal" approach as much as an "adaptable" approach. Following all of these considerations, features, and potential applications of the MOC as a kit, I also had to find a unique design that was believable, kept the parts count under control, and served as a believable "next generation" version to Set 7242. A new feature in this MOC is the use of the Lego 2441 vehicle base, which saved parts, fits modern design efforts and shows that with creativity large scale designs can be implemented on the 2441 chassis. It was an interesting challenge to try and incorporate all of these aspects into the design and still make it visually appealing. [pid][/pid] LDD/MLCad 12B Hi AFOLs (and LEGO Galleon lovers), I've been working on this build in LDD for the last month or so - as I did I lurked these forums and drew inspiration from many of the fine galleon MOCs here. I'm currently in the part ordering phase - have around 1200 out of 4500 pieces and thought I'd post it to see what the ship builders here think. It's named the Gilded Crow because the colors match that of an Ozzie football team, in case anyone was wondering. I didn't plan it that way, just thought the dark blue, gold and bright red worked well together - the wife saw it and recognized her teams colors straight away :) I have designed it to be modular, drawing inspiration from the Imperial Flagship and other sources. I was considering the purchase of that set but, at the price it is now, I thought I could purchase 3 X as many bricks, for a larger model of my own design. In this final render, you can see the detail in the Captain's quarters and just make out the large dining table and chairs in the deck below. I'm not sure how long it will take me to collect all the parts and build the Crow, though I know it will require custom sails and rigging. Once complete I will post some photos of the actual build. I plan to create better water on the base plates, with tiles and studs. Eventually, I also want to crew this vessel. I would prefer not to use the yellow skinned minifigs - if anyone has suggestions on suitable minifig crew parts which work with flesh colored heads and hands, it would be appreciated. It's interesting, a rendition of a giant machine in the style of M-Longer or Sariel, Technic functions under a Model Team shell. For as long as I've been a part of the online LEGO community; more than five years, I've never posted a MOC on Eurobricks, rather only lurked. On that note, say hello to my latest MOC and first on Eurobricks: Aside from not requiring surgery in the future, if there's one notable positive attributed to wisdom teeth removal it's that I have more time for LEGO. I had started this backhoe as a project to pass the time and keep my mind off the pain (due to allergies, I don't take a lot of unnecessary drugs like painkillers). As well, after surfing Eurobricks, The Brothers Brick and Brickshelf, I was surprised by the lack of backhoes. I figured I'd fill the void with this little guy. Enjoy!
