AllanSmith Posted December 4, 2011 V-LI-09A Traffic management truck with attenuator and flashing sign. I pass these daily in my job as an Intercity Coach driver. This uses the cab from 4643 Power Boat Transporter. It has a new chassis that has space for a 9 volt battery. The video uses Hand of God trickery to achieve the flashing. I am going to build a 555 timer circuit to power the LED's. Probably hide it in the cab.
dr_spock Posted December 4, 2011 Nice. I see quite a few of them on my road trip. I think you can get LEDs with built-in resistors and flash circuit these days. No need for a 555 timer IC.
lightningtiger Posted December 4, 2011 Excellent piece of designing 'Allen', based on a real truck or just your own little creation ? At last that speed boat transporter is useful ! Are we going to build other road repair/street lighting trucks ? Brick On Truck On 'Allen' !

Based on real trucks Click here then scroll down to Traffic Management My access steps are at the front to allow for the battery underneath.
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted December 4, 2011 Wow! Fantastic creation! The truck shape is great, and the lights totally cool!
LEGO Guy Bri Posted December 4, 2011 Awesome truck 'AS'! Great design and build execution. The lights really make this over the top. Excellent job
JopieK Posted December 4, 2011 Nice. I see quite a few of them on my road trip. I think you can get LEDs with built-in resistors and flash circuit these days. No need for a 555 timer IC. Maybe in Red, but I have never seen them in white or yellow (although the latter may be available). A small microcontroller will also do the job, but be careful that you don't connect the LED's directly to the outputs (one is fine, but 10 will be too much). Trent Posted December 4, 2011 The lights on this are excellent - brilliant work!
AllanSmith Posted December 5, 2011 Maybe in Red, but I have never seen them in white or yellow (although the latter may be available). A small microcontroller will also do the job, but be careful that you don't connect the LED's directly to the outputs (one is fine, but 10 will be too much). Flashing LED's (red, yellow, green, blue) are $NZ 1.50 each and I would need 18 in my LED array. A NE555 timer is only $NZ 1.50 and I would only need cheap LED's. I dont think the flashing LED's would all flash in snyc. The NE5555 timer is also a lot cheaper than a microcontroller and the output can handle 200mA. LegoSjaak Posted December 5, 2011 I like it..it is something different, i was suprised by it!! Nice work on the LED's too!
AllanSmith Posted January 24, 2012 Finished my truck and also built two. One to display "<-" sign and one to display "X" sign. 9v battery and 555 timer circuit underneath powering 10 LED's at the rear. Rebuilt chassis to give centre access and redesigned hinge at rear. Enjoy again
Rune Haako Posted January 24, 2012 Very cool MOC, especially with the working lights.
mhannon42 Posted December 2, 2012 My son loves TMA trucks and wants this lego truck. Can this be purchased anywhere or are there steps on how to create?
LegoBobby Posted December 2, 2012 Brilliant truck, these are very common on UK roads as well and this looks superb. Excellent work.
SharpShot Posted December 6, 2012 (edited) Awesome truck! I also see them quite often. Great work on the LEDs. Edited December 6, 2012 by SharpShot
