def Posted February 9, 2011 The Okinawa cherry blossoms bloomed this week. This is my last year in Okinawa, so it'll be my last early spring. Today was t-shirt weather. Enjoy the spring, it only comes once a year! <iPhone pics, by the way, not my best )

def Posted February 9, 2011 Must be nice. We're still buried under a couple feet of snow. That was one reason I left Canada! But I miss snow a little. A couple weeks a year is nice.
prateek Posted February 9, 2011 You sir are very lucky. There's more than 1 m of snow piled in front of my house. Nice pics BTW. The iPhone takes very impressive pics. Why are you leaving Okinawa? Where to next?
def Posted February 9, 2011 Why are you leaving Okinawa? Where to next? I'm in my 30s, married, with a kid, so I want to buy a house, and you can't do that here; property is too expensive, there are just condos that are affordable. So, we're moving to my wife's home prefecture, Hokkaido, which practically has the same weather as Toronto, but it has affordable places. I'll get to experience two spring bloomings, this February in Okinawa, and again in April in Hokkaido
prateek Posted February 9, 2011 Nice. Good luck in moving, and be sure to take more pics of spring in April, if you have the time

This is one of the reasons why I'd like to visit Japan someday, just to see these lovely springtime cherry blossoms.
