  • Three XL PF motors; three battery packs
  • Triple half-plate insets for perfect alignment on boiler contours
  • Fully free double-pivoting lead and trailing trucks; same for lead bogie on tender.
  • Spacious interior room for custom lighting.
  • Detailed cab.
  • Prototypically-accurate 2 degree backwards-trailing skylining flair
  • Easy-lift-out coal for battery access.

This is not a rework or rebuild - it's a 100 percent new locomotive and tender. Also, as usual, I cannot do piping in stud.io.

You can get the correct drivers by going to Shape ways and then Shupp's train wheels.  They have both boxpok and disk drivers.

Oh, are those available as an add-on for stud.io? Or do you mean IRL? :)

Good looking NYC Hudson locomotive. Well detailed and it matches the look. How much do you intend to pull with 3 XL motors?

I dunno, I guess it's more like having 600 HP under the hood of a Mustang GT. You're never going to use it - you just derive some weird comfort from it being there. I figured I had the space without compromising the integrity of the build, so it should go towards lugging power. And when you have those really long boilers, there's a LOT of space.

Wow, very nice! Hope you will be able to build it in real bricks and share it!

That looks really good! Lots of nice detailing going on.

No, don't go to shapeways, Shupp gets no money that way. Go to BTD, it's cheaper and Shupp gets a cut of the profit (or at least that was the case a few years ago, if in doubt, contact BTD first)

Unless you are gearing them up, it will be more like a tugboat: a ton of power and not much speed. I have a PF engine with one battery pack, one IR receiver and 2 XL motors that has pulled over 70 cars and will stringline curves before stalling. Even then, a pair of L motors with a single battery is probably sufficient to pull most trans. Maybe leave space for a second battery and two more L motors if more power is needed later. Oh, and put some weight in the tender to keep the wheels from spinning.
