Deep below the mountainous surface of Arium Minor...

25921703956_184bbc2d30_t.jpg ... named in honor of the man who first brought our two groups together, the “John Hannibal Center for High Energy Research” is the first facility to be jointly owned and operated by Octan and the Merchant Confederacy.

25921703956_184bbc2d30_t.jpgThe experiments conducted here will help us gain a deeper understanding of the GATES, and the gravitational anomalies which power them.

25921703956_184bbc2d30_t.jpgToday, we'll be starting up the reactor for its first official test run. Control room, please confirm your status.

25318879423_36ed5716b9_t.jpgERT is a 'Go.'

25921703956_184bbc2d30_t.jpg Very good. Power to stage 1 emitters in 3,2,1.

25314973864_588ef7b415_c.jpg

25921703956_184bbc2d30_t.jpg I'm seeing predictable phase arrays. Stage 2 emitters activating...now.

25314926874_13257f3f59_t.jpg Overhead capacitors to one oh five percent. Uh, it's probably not a problem, probably, but I'm showing a small discrepancy in... well, no, it's well within acceptable bounds again. Sustaining sequence.

25921703956_184bbc2d30_t.jpg Oh dear!

25314926874_13257f3f59_t.jpg Shutting down - no, attempting to shut down. It's not - it's not shutting down!

25826825972_15936563b7_t.jpg Aaaaah!

25318879423_36ed5716b9_t.jpgERT to control room - what the hell is going on!?!

25921703956_184bbc2d30_t.jpg Don't worry, it's okay - look-

25921722256_508f630bb7_c.jpg

25921703956_184bbc2d30_t.jpg ...the field has stabilized. It's ... beautiful.

25947631095_35bec637b1_c.jpg

25314926874_13257f3f59_t.jpg Something - something is emerging from the field...

25921703956_184bbc2d30_t.jpg Oh my gods... Gordon - open the door to the chamber! Jimmy, get the medical team down here.

25318879423_36ed5716b9_t.jpgBut, the Rhumkopf-Brickowski field-

25921703956_184bbc2d30_t.jpg It's okay the field is dissipating. Now, open the door.

25318879423_36ed5716b9_t.jpg Roger, opening door to the containment chamber and - holy sh*t.

17722877618_0b8a923d32_o.jpg What the hell are you staring at? Don't test me buddy, I've had a long, long day...

25921703956_184bbc2d30_t.jpg Explorer Caslaug-Hing ... welcome back.

I'd been wanting to do an homage to one of my favorite old school computer games, and I finally found a good way to fit it into my story. The blue lighting is from my Phillips goLITE (an essential for Seattle residents - it tricks our brains into thinking there is a sun in the sky), and the digital effects were added at PicMonkey.com.

Full sized pics can be viewed on my flickr. Thanks for viewing - C & C welcomed!

Congratulations on the first successful run of this joint research facility. Congratulations also to Explorer Lu Caslaug-Hing on her return to the land of the living!

It's a beautiful build, too. Well done!

Great build and story this week! The blue lighting is really eye catching. The research facility has a lot of great detail too.

Funny. I was in Seattle this weekend. The weather was wonderful. Only slightly overcast with light rain!

Awesome effects

That shot from straight above the reactor at the very beginning is perfect. I absolutely love it.

And of course, I am wondering what direction the story will take now...

Really like the reactor room. I was amazed to see that the control room actually does look down into the reactor too! Great sci-fi build and interesting to see where this leads for Lu.

Stellar build! The wiring beneath the floor in the portal room is a nice touch. Though I wonder why the ERT is there- who will he rescue? Dr. Long? But she's on the other side of the portal room... I guess this is one of those "Rule of Cool" things, right?

LOL, you definitely sound like a Seattleite if "light rain" counts as wonderful weather

Yeah, I should have explained the ERT more - ah well, I always feel like my posts are running too long already.

Don't know the reference (guessing half life?), but I really like it!

Yes, Half Life is correct - thanks! :classic:
