Duvors Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) "I... may have underestimated our enemy's numbers." Throlar attacked Blood Hound A from the front row. (OOC; Why is Throlar counterstriking? He isn't wearing the gloves. Also, I disimbued the opal from the Poncanis Shield and sold the shield In the marketplace, and my amethyst isn't listed either.) Asphalt Posted May 12, 2015 He looks from the dead hound, to his bleeding wound, and to his envenomed blade. "A true double edged sword this one." After taking a moment to decide, Vindsval uncorks another potion and drinks it from the back row. "Better to not bleed to death, such a defeat would earn no honor." Kintobor Posted May 12, 2015 OoC: Would the birds absorb a free hit from the hastened Vipers? Can we put them first in order so they can do that? The vipers are getting a free hit no matter what. That's what hastened does. I doubt the birds can block it, though. "Um, guys," Annienal mumbles, "I'm really in no condition to be blocking Hyper Viper B, if we avoid. I'm going to get knocked out if I do. I can put Throlar at the top of the battle order, but we risk him getting knocked out during his attack. Suggestions?... anybody..." Asphalt Posted May 12, 2015 (edited) Vindsval drains the potion and feels his health restored. As he watches the wound close he turns to Annienal. I will be of little use this round, place me in the beasts path Annienal. I will absorb his strike that you may kill it. Warlen also seems to believe that he is protected by the magics of Throlar's shield. If this is indeed the case place him at the fore as well. OOC: at full health and from the back row Vindsval will survive a hit from the snake. Put him first. Edited May 12, 2015 by Asphalt

Dannylonglegs Posted May 12, 2015 "Warlen, that attack could kill the snake. We should focus on the dog. If luck serves us well we could bring him down next turn." Sylph targeted Viper C from the back. Ooc-Throlars shield gives 5 SP to all Elves, so me and Annie. "Yes!" Cries Warlen jubilantly. This time he casts a fire spell at Hyper Vyper D. OoC: if anyone's wondering, Sylph would not benefit from this. Suggestions?... anybody..." OoC: Ok, I figured, but I was just curious about their wording. Can they be placed in the battle order? Because that could benefit us. I would actually have assumed that they could be placed in order, but maybe I'm just stretching. OOC: and just curious, what is the Tested Effect? It halves my health and ether and when the encounter is over I get double xp. If we're feeling confident towards the end of this encounter, it would be multiplied too by the Medal of Glory, I think. That would be a pretty cool thing to try out if you're willing! obviously though, that would depend on how this round turns out.

Dannylonglegs Posted May 14, 2015 Ooc: awww. I wanted to see if Vindsval would trade me the Medal so I could get MOAR XP! Sylph knelt beside the fallen animals of the forest. "Their blood will feed the grass." He muttered. Standing up, Sylph addressed the one remaining bird. "They are a plant from the tropics. The grow in bunches on small trees." Sylph also translated the question to the group so that they could talk to the bird if they so desired. Sylph eyed the biologists curiously, but said nothing, leaving the more diplomatic of the group to talk to them.

"If it's all the same to you guys, I wouldn't mind a Smelling Salts. They're my proffered method of battle, but they're so expensive!" Then he goes and digs with his shovel at the side of the road. Asphalt Posted May 14, 2015 In hopes of keeping the bird around a while longer vindsval holds out hi hand, offering a perch. Come Feathered Friend, you have helped us well, rest and regain your strength. Vindsval turns his gaze to the scholars. We do intend to continue on, is there anything you can tell us? Kintobor Posted May 14, 2015 (edited) Annienal sheaths her weapons, wiping the sweat from her brow. She hands the loot out to the party, fumbling with a few of the items. She particularly hands Sylph his items rather hastily. Loot: Warlen- Smelling Salts, Tonic, Viper Scale Vindsval- Smelling Salts, Tonic Sylph- Smelling Salts, Potion, Viper Scale Throlar- Smelling Salts, Potion, Viper Scale Annienal- Viper Scale, Potion "If there's, um, any issues with the loot, let me know." She holds the left side of her torso and winces after handing the loot out, realizing she'd been hit worse than she thought by the Hyper Viper. She mumbles an "ow" before noticing the two individuals in white confront her. With the battle won, the party steps back. The birds fly away, and the biologists look on in awe. "Th-thanks for the save..." "...You don't plan on forging deeper into the forest, d'ya?" Meanwhile, a single bird remains, plucking the remains of banana with its beak. <What is this "banana" thing, and where is there more of it? It's great, caw!> Annienal looks the two people over curiously. They clearly didn't have weapons on them, but it still made Annienal nervous. "Um, I don't think we've formally been introduced. My name is Annienal Anavir. May I ask who you are?" After asking the two scientists, Annienal notices the bird pecking around the banana and cawing. She takes her own banana out of her bag and tries whistling it over. Edited May 14, 2015 by Kintobor
Endgame Posted May 14, 2015 <How far away are the tropics? This stuff is too good to pass up, caw...> Then he goes and digs with his shovel at the side of the road. Warlen's shovel peirces the earth, and he hauls up one of Earth's many treasures: Fertile Mud: It must've rained recently! A big glop of mud. Throw it an enemy to make them Slowed. ...It kinda smells bad, though. "Um, I don't think we've formally been introduced. My name is Annienal Anavir. May I ask who you are?" After asking the two scientists, Annienal notices the bird pecking around the banana and cawing. She takes her own banana out of her bag and tries whistling it over. "My name's Kelvin." "And I'm Maria! As you could probably guess, we're a couple of eggheads... We came here after a direwolf somehow found his way into the hovels. It seems the poor bastard went there out of hunger, judging by these other animals. Needless to say, after the Town Watch took out the beast, he sent us to figure out what's up." "There was - is, hopefully - a third member of our group, Mendel. He went ahead of us. We stopped to collect samples when that mob of animals reared its head, and after that, we got seperated. He probably just assumes that we're off inspecting something else, the old coot." "Wait - the flares, Kelvin!" "Right. For mostly uninhabited forests like these, we pack flares in case we get seperated... Look towards the sky." Kelvin rifles through his pockets for a bit, before taking out a bottle of powder and gas. He gives it a good few shakes before opening the top, releasing a streak of red smoke into the air. A few suspenseful seconds past, until another one rusts into the sky very close to the foot of the Barrier Mountains. "Gregor is alive... somewhere in there." Meanwhile, the bird catches the scent almost instantly. <Yes! thank you, thank you!> Unfortunately, though, we don't know the woods too well, so you'll be going in blind." In hopes of keeping the bird around a while longer vindsval holds out hi hand, offering a perch. Come Feathered Friend, you have helped us well, rest and regain your strength. The bird snatches the bana up and flies onto the offered perch, tearing into his new favorite food. <*munch munch munch.*>
Kintobor Posted May 14, 2015 Annienal frowns as the bird flies away from her and lands on Vindsval's shoulder, but she turns her attention to the duo, and listens to their response. "You two have yet to explain where you are from. I hope you don't mind if I ask? I think we'd be able to help you find your friend, but I need to know the whole situation. I hope you understand?" Anninenal asks in a diplomatic tone. She downs a potion while waiting for the two to respond.
