CloneCommando99 Posted Friday at 11:24 PM Posted Friday at 11:24 PM I am sure many of you have been wondering what it is I do in my spare time when I’m not ranting about TIE Avengers, glazing Green Lantern or complaining about Smart Play. Today I give you the answer. I have been gradually working on this fella for 1.5 years now, and i’m nowhere near finished. But as some of ya’ll have requested a look, i’m going to give just that. I thank the many of you who expressed interest in seeing this, even in its unrefined state. Without much further ado let’s get started. Ah yes. The simple Moff Gideon’s bunker. One of the best sets of 2024. Worthy of its own thread by itself. But wait, there’s more! Much more. Inspired by modular buildings, there are currently 3 plate components. With 4 more 16x32 plates planned to be added in order to eventually accommodate a landing pad. The forward module is a 32x32 plate. Including the base’s main infantry gate, a speeder maintenance bay, an armoury, heavy blast door and the forward halves of the two infantry barracks. The advent of the new speederbike design from the AT AT and assumably in the 2027 Endor BP is a happy coincidence as it will fit much better into the maintenance bay than the 2022 variant. The forward armoury can accommodate 19 blasters and a mortar. While providing ample space for a walkway around the weapon racks. The 2 barracks are both capable of housing a 8 man squad. (Note that this image is with the modular components split.) I plan on building another 8 man barracks for techs and pilots in future. Here is the other side with connection points. This is the start of the first 48x48 plate. With a lovely hallway. Obligatory hallway scene photo Apart from the trooper barracks’ continuation, on the right side of the 2nd baseplate we have the NCO/ junior officer barracks. The perks of this smaller barracks are 2 beds rather than 8 and equipment/ personal belongings drawers. The idea is that this houses the commanders of the normal barracks’ squads. This general here is out of place as Lego still is yet to make an accessible Lieutenant. And the actual officers’ quarters will be on a higher level when I get around to it, On the left side of the corridor we have a supply closet. And in here you can see Cassian monologuing To steal from the Empire? What do you need? A uniform, some dirty hands and an Imperial tool kit. They're so proud of themselves, they don't even care. They're so fat and satisfied, they can't imagine it. Here we have a view of how the corridor intersects left and right just before the detention block’s blast door. You can see a security checkpoint console where the two corridors intersect. Here is a bird’s eye view of how it intersects. Also note, a 2nd armoury in the top left, which will double as the vehicle hangar guard room. Here is the mess hall. This is largely a self service food system (empire doesn’t have the budget for a chef because they need 2 death stars), with the room being equipped with a microwave, water tap and food crate. I may build another in future due to the size of the base’s planned garrison. But for now this is the only one. Oh and @THELEGOBATMAN, I hope you will enjoy this pic of Dedra tolerating a BLT. Across the hall from the mess we have the stairwell (in progress). The stairs’ actual design draws inspiration from the 2015 Battlefront Sullust AT AT hangar map. I’m hoping those who know ball can see what I mean. Same stairs/ mess section but with blast doors slid shut. (Fully retractable) You may be able to notice the two variations of blast door. Heavy (2 stud width) and standard (1 stud width) the heavy blast doors are used to lockdown the sectors closest to the base’s entry points. The heavy door towards the back of the image seals off the hangar from the rest of the base. The standard blast doors are just to lockdown base sectors towards the interior. The hangar is under development. But as you can see, it will be housing speeders and smaller patrol vessels. The eventual landing pad will be for TIEs and shuttles. And just to finish off, here’s a back shot of the detention block’s foundations. Currently formatted to 4 cells, I might add another row. Depends how much space the landing pad maintenance elevator takes up tbh. This project was started as a way to use up loose parts, but I have been pick a bricking many more parts to make it work. Funny isn’t it? Thanks for reading. Any questions? Quote
PrinceLucius Posted Saturday at 12:49 AM Posted Saturday at 12:49 AM Ah, I love these kinds of big and detailed interiors, and this one is certainly an inspiring one with a lot of intriguing areas in it! I'll be happy to see more later on. One slight idea to consider might be recoloring the bunks? Even the stormtroopers assumedly had mattresses, so maybe some other color than gray for the bunks to represent some piece of comfort? Like sand green or sand blue? I have actually spent a year in a barracks, and this floorplan like the security station and its position at the crossroads, the cantina, the stocks and the bunks and the general atmosphere does catch the glimpse of it very well. Kaijumeister Posted Saturday at 01:00 AM Posted Saturday at 01:00 AM This looks awesome, nice work and thanks for sharing it! You’ve nailed the aesthetic and atmosphere of Imperial installations we’ve seen across the films / games / shows. You mentioned you’re planning to situate certain rooms / modules at another level, is the plan for this base to consist of two full floors? As a random aside the use of the spring loaded shooter brick for the doors is some really nice parts usage. Adds some very Star Wars-y vibes to their design. Shoutout to Cal working his way through the entire base. I fear for his safety if our resident Übermensch Rick the Door Technician is also lurking around somewhere. It’d be cool to see your periodic continued progress as you build this up Quote
Mandalorianknight Posted Saturday at 05:49 AM Posted Saturday at 05:49 AM I have to be honest, when you said in the main thread you were making an imperial base MOC, I was not expecting this scale or level of detail. This is in many ways MBS level. Lots of great work replicating details- the light patterns, hanger arrows, and doors are all excellent detailing. I look forward to seeing more progress in the future. As a certified Ball Knower I see the vision for the stairs. Also, how much have you had to shell out for these floor tiles? Or are you scrounging them from old sets? 4 hours ago, PrinceLucius said: One slight idea to consider might be recoloring the bunks? If he wants to keep the greyscale, maybe white top tiles, with the pillow being an ingot to differentiate it from the mattress? Quote

The bunks and their barren style are actually inspired by the ones shown in the Pelta’s barracks in the Clone Wars S2 worm infection episode. And I imagine the empire didn’t like to promote comfort anymore than the Republic. 6 hours ago, Kaijumeister said: Shoutout to Cal working his way through the entire base. It’d be cool to see your periodic continued progress as you build this up Fortunately Rick couldn’t make it as he’s too busy soloing Abeloth. So instead Cal’s got his cousin John the Speeder Mechanic to worry about. 1 hour ago, Mandalorianknight said: I have to be honest, when you said in the main thread you were making an imperial base MOC, I was not expecting this scale or level of detail. I’ve probably spent £30-40 on PABing tiles online. I plan to keep major costs down by hopefully running into a good grey brick selection on physical PAB walls. Bricks on average are by far the most expensive component to this anyway. And you can basically get twice your money’s worth if you take the time to stack into the boxes. Tiles are less likely to be on the PAB walls so I can stomach spending the online prices on it. 6 hours ago, Kaijumeister said: This looks awesome, nice work and thanks for sharing it! Though the 2nd level will have a landing pad taking up a lot of space so it should be easier to fill out. I have the concepts of what a 3rd level could include and that’s basically just a comms tower and some turbolaser turrets. I’m not sure what else could work/ make sense so high up. Any ideas? Quote

Any ideas? “I’ve seen this raw power only once before, in John the Speeder Mechanic. It didn’t scare me enough then…it does now.” That sounds pretty cool, my head is devoid of ideas to suggest but at the very least you need a perilous catwalk area somewhere with minimal handrails. My inspirations were primarily the Jedi games, Battlefront and Rebels as those are really where we see imperial bases in full. But in general it’s a mix of sources and my own imagination. I would like to be able to add some junior officers (e.g. Lieutenant) in the future. I also won’t say no to expanding the stormtrooper garrison and tech crew. Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted Sunday at 10:10 PM Posted Sunday at 10:10 PM Looks awesome. Feels very Imperial-y, the whole build really works. I particularly like the walls. Love seeing my wife enjoying her lunch. I hope Andor or Cal (lovely poncho) aren't after her though. Quote
Feuer Zug Posted Monday at 03:44 PM Posted Monday at 03:44 PM Wicked build. The modular design helps, but it really has a solid appearance. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago This is great, I have to hope the finished hangar bay will have space for the TIE AVENGER! I have a (much smaller and generally less interesting) build of an Imperial base interior on my bookshelf behind me and yours here blows it out of the water. I am intrigued to seewhat this will look like in a few year after it's more complete and hope you'll share it with us here. (Maybe even sneak a certain ISB Agent into the build, though for some reason TLG isn't putting him in as many sets as they should so that mightn’t be so easy! He's my namesake and my copy of him doesn’t even have the official torso! ) Quote
Yperio_Bricks Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Wow, this is huge! Love all the details and scenes you added, like the bunk beds or Andor in action right next to the canteen, where Derda is sitting. The shot through the corridor looks great! Quote
