I feel like Lego knows what AFOLs want some mini figures from old themes for old time’s sake.  So it seems there are mixed reactions. 

To me, I don’t care what kind of regular series - themed or normal - I am always happy to collect every single minifigure. I am happy with Birthday Party Series 18, Costume Party Series 22, Space Series 26, Animals Series 28.  I gues  it’s impossible for Lego to satisfy everyone at same time.

Now,i think it’s very confusing what Series 29 is supposed to be - Classic or simply a normal series. 

I think there is a balance to be had in providing tributes to classic themes while at the same time proving something new that we haven’t had before (for example, I’m all for seeing figures that fit in with the Adventurers - the Johnny Thunder figure was a good example as it reintroduced a ‘classic’ theme but also included the chameleon, which was something new). To be honest, I’m happy for any figure if it gives us a new animal. I’ll take a classic spaceman in Coral pink if it includes a wombat, despite this not making much sense in terms of compatibility! 😂

Honestly - I think you’ve hit on the ideal model for a CMF: crowd pleasing throwback & random animal accessory.

They would then just need a random classic minifig generator and random animal generator and we’d end up with…

Spyrius Robot and Hyena, Governor Broadside and Baby Hippo, Rock Raider and Baird’s Tapir, Timmy the Time Cruiser and Honey Badger (probably that last one wouldn’t seem that weird after all considering the odd selection of parts)!

That idea sounds pretty wacky but very cool.  But I think  that would be perfect for Pirates and Caslte characters with animals like a parrot or a baby monkey (not chimpzeee or gorilla),  for Pirates a kid goat, raven, unicorn foal, dark phoenix for Castle.  Not sure about Adventurers characters with animals tho? We have chameleon, scorpion, toucan, snake, and more. What do you expect to see some animal from Adventuers character?

I like your thoughts here @Lion King Any Adventurers could potentially include most animals around the world found in exotic locations. I would particularly like to see some tributes to more Amazon wildlife - capybaras, sloths, tapirs, anteaters would all fit in a CMF box. Maybe a vulture for a Wild West figure too.

Ohhhh now you mentioned Amazon wildlife!! I like that idea. I think it’s’ more suitable for an Aventuruers character for CMF.  I doubt a baby camel would fit into a blind box as it might be too big but that camel would be a nice tribute for Egypt adventure.  And let’s not forget about Aquazone and Aqua Raider so there would be potential for sea animals . Maybe a baby shark singing “doo dooo dooo” :)  A vulture or armadlllio would be amazing to pair up with a Wild West figure!!

I feel like the Series 29 would be more normal since it’s a mix up of minifigures that would represent old themes. It makes sense if there won’t be another 10 throwbacks, yet they would still represent old themes. I just don’t know where “Classic” world comes from - it’s little confusing.  I feel it could be a good chance for us to get some animals in Series 29 - jsut a glimmer of hope after drought.

Have just seen Matthew Ashton clarify on a post about this that ‘classic’ just means non-licensed. So I think we can put all other hypotheses around the word to bed now.

It’s really interesting that some higher-up like Matthew Ashton made a statement. But to be honest,  Themed or regular, i’m still glad that it’s non-licensed CMF Seriek

it could make sense why they don’t throwbacks until 50th  anniversary of minifigures in 2028.

Not for me, but hardly a retrofig..I assume the rest will leak soon then :moar:

Same here, looks good but not for me. When the leaker got his hands on one fig, it seems likely he got them on other too, so likely dropping them one after another to generate more clicks.

That garbage monster is… something…

I mean, it’s not something I’ll be searching for for myself, but I can see little kids loving it, and the quality is top notch, plus I can’t say I’m not interested to see if other fun Vidiyo molds get brought back from the dead. 
 

Fingers crossed this means we’ll see the checklist soon.

I didn’t expect to see that trash monster! But I think that minifigures is fun and cute to collect. If Tahu and Lloyd are true for Series 29, then we have yet to see 9 more minifigures.

As said from posts above yours that this is a regular series.  so the word classic just meant regular in this case

The part of the statement in question is "brought back from the dead". The part originated from Vidiyo like several others but it was never dead, it's had a life for several years in Dreamzzz. From 2023 to last years BAM.

Yes I know I just made a point out of it. I would not mind a "classic" series the most, but prefer a normal one as we are getting now.
Normal series have become so rare that Lego advertise them as classic :tongue:

Personally, I wouldn´t mind getting a full throwback seriesl. Just like with normal series, there would be some figures I will like and some that are just not for me, so it would hardly make a difference IMO. But such a series would make more sense to me in 2028 anyways, as a anniversary for the minifigures 50th Birthday. And I would totally take a retro series over yet another costumed one.

Maybe a new fig leaked? A Princess/elf in a green dress with a new hair part with a diadem 👍 

A lot more interesting to me than the slime 😅
