I totally called the Bionicle fig being a costumed fan a month ago. Still, I expect he’ll still be very popular (and I’m fully expecting to see mods with the head replaced just like all the ones for series 28 currently circulating).

I’m cackling at this – I’d actually be cool having the viral ‘Chocolate Guy’ as a Minifigure. However, the leaks specifically cite ‘Willy wonker’ (sic), so we should expect something a little more Victorian as far as clothing goes. 
 

I’m definitely looking forward to the Unicorn elf, especially since the leaked fig not having a horn confirms she comes with an actual unicorn. (Presumably the same mold introduced last year. Fingers crossed for a mane color a little more ‘natural’ than purple.) 
 

Also eager to see the cute witch. Right now I’m imagining a kid/teenage witch with a little black kitten familiar – how cute would that be?

The marine biologist sounds fun too – I missed the last one because of the whole *early 2020* release and my local stores just not stocking blind bags for months, so I definitely want to snag this one. 
 

Soccer player sounds painfully basic, but I guess Lego needed to leverage the CMF budget for the new ball. 
 

Curious to see what the slime monster and monster hunter will have as accessories. 
 

Genuinely surprised there’s not more chatter about the Robot T-Rex – it’s the only real sci-fi character this series but sounds rather fun.

Tahu being a cosplayer makes me apprehensive. I really hope it looks decent enough as a stand in for Tahu and isn't super obvious as being a costume.

A King Grimlock style figure would look awesome. But like you say, probably a costume.

Same. I really hope it's just a Tahu minifigure with a human head underneath we'll be able to swap for a trans-neon orange or trans-dark pink head.

 

Ronin Lloyd is a genius move to differentiate him from others. Assuming lego continues their trend of ronin/rogue/solo ninja figures having the conical hat and this isn't just a re-do of Samurai Lloyd, it would be a really cool figure. Something in line with Monstrocity's Kai that we unfortunately never got. (Monstrocity Kai would have made a great option for this CMF as well- I was surprised by how well-written that story was.)

She has an unicorn pendant. and may have a shield with an unicorn instead of an actual unicorn.

The unicorn pendant seems a stretch to validate the name. Likewise her dress & bare arms don’t scream ‘warrior’ to me. Hopefully we know for sure soon.

Which would fit the previous maidens we got. A "civilian" torso and skirt, but a shield and weapon

Previous elf ‘maiden’ had shoulder armour. Also, that would make this a very ‘like for like’ remake …. Which imho makes it less likely. Lastly, there are already at least three armed figures in this line up (Ronin, Bionicle, Monster hunter) … so my money is still on a unicorn accessory.

I think that will likely make this this *the* chase figure in the series, and broadly follow the recent pattern of ‘castle’ figure with desirable animal accessory. (Falcon, Goat, Wolf, Unicorn)

I sure hope she comes with an actual unicorn. 

As you know I keep wishing for non-existing animals like phoenix, unicorn, griffin, etc. Now I’m hoping for unicorn!!

Any guesses to what the "Mysterious Ronin" might look like?

The leakers says Lloyd, but is there a ronin version of Lloyd? Because he is a ninja, not a ronin

I think there’s been clarification that the Ronin was just mistaken for Lloyd. Which probably means that he looks like a typical ronin with notable amounts of green.

That what I suspected earlier.  Since leaker could misgtt Ronin for Lloyd. I assume it’s because of green and gold scheme. But i don’t think ronins would wear mask like ninjas do. Plus the leader said Tahu and Lloyd were “throwback”. Is that ronin throwback to both Ninjago and classic Ninja?

At this stage I think we have to assume the Lloyd stuff was all a misunderstanding, and that yeah maybe it’s a ‘ninja’ archetype. We haven’t seen one since s1 of the ‘normal’ CMFs

Yeah, and we have two Samurai min figures in non-licensed series so far.

I imagine the color scheme and general feudal Japanese vibe is what made the leaker think of Lloyd. Green is definitely a good choice for a character you’ve imagined skulking around forests and such, after all. 
 

It’s also worth noting that ronin are just masterless samurai, and samurai armor definitely has a mask-like lower face protection that a quick google search shows some people incorporating into ronin costumes. Plus, there’s plenty of Western media featuring ronin with your typical fabric lower face mask – because a lot of westerners are just going to see them as noble loner ninja.

If she comes with a unicorn, presumably it will only be a foal to fit in the pack. I imagine a shield or some other object like a printed tile is more likely.

As to the recent pattern, I'd say: Falcon, good animal and very good figure that can army build as male or female, fleshie or yellow. Goat, excellent animal but not a great figure, figure not really an army builder and still available at a liw price without the goat. Wolf: excellent animal and excellent figure, a good army builder for fleshie or yellow, very useful parts. Whether the unicorn elf is sought after will really depend on the accessory. She'll look good as a one off yellow castle/princess type figure but I don’t think that she will be sought after as an army builder unless there is a great accessory, and that would make her less of a chase figure.

Yes, I know what ronin means.  I was not sure if ronin actually wore masks. When in doubt, I quick-Googled and sure enough they did. So I suspect that the leaker easily mistook ronin for Lloyd because of mask and color scheme.  If it’s not Lloyd from Ninjago after all, I’m not going to lie - I’m happy to have one right from samurai age (we had Ninja, and two Samurai from older CMF series). If I remember correctly, the female samurai was the feudal Japanese min figure since 2015. Of course, and  I’m not including kimono girl, keno trainee and martial art kid form o previous CMF series I because they are still existing in our lives while ninja and samurai are long gone.  I welcome the idea of ronin.

Perhaps Lego might think that including animals in CMFs can bump sales, even of the less-desired characters. LOL

There’s no think about it. That goatherd that wasn’t much of an appealing character on his own got strip mined from freshly opened cases for his goat just as much as the Beastmaster who was equally as desirable as his wolf companion. People were buying hand help endoscopes to find him and the blind boxes conveniently started being printed with scannable codes after the first few shipments for that series. Lego knows.

Which is why I’m still scratching my head over the people moaning doom and gloom and saying the Elf will probably just have a unicorn emblazoned on a shield. Like, the Beastmaster had a wolf on his shield… along with an actual wolf. And that was a new mold – the unicorn foal already exists.

What if….the headset is not wrong about Lloyd? I just googled that it looks like samurai AND ninja can be a ronin. “Ronin” word means “enduring man”. Basically ninja or samurai can become a ronin without serving a lord. 

I’m still skeptical about the leaker’s “Lloyd” claim tho.

I don't think we're going to know for sure if this ronin is Lloyd until we look at pictures. If he has green eyes, it's Lloyd. If it's normal black eyes, it's a generic ronin. That's all the effort I feel like putting into that discussion.

For sure, no doubt people will want her set if there is a decent animal. But I'd put her up there with the goatherd, where the accessory is the star and the figure is fine for a one off but not really needed in quantity. 

If it is the unicorn foal from the Creator set, it is less interesting for me as I find them too small to be useful, and they are already quite plentiful.  

There seems to be a bit of a gap in the market for something a bit bigger than CMF but 'collectable' / pocket money containing a figure plus a full sized animal. It would be interesting if they did a more expensive small box series (maybe £5-6) of things like knight plus horse, farmer plus cow, princess plus unicorn, horse rider plus horse, pirate plus shark, zoo keeper plus alligator, or groups of animals like farmer plus 5 chickens, diver plus turtle and some fish,  etc. Whether there is demand I'm not sure. There probably is for AFOLs but for general public maybe not if it costs more than CMF but doesn't appear to be much more.

Agreed. As a shinnichi (Jaoanophile), I can’t help myself but wondering and looking into the definition of “ronin” a bit deeper. Pictures will tell us everything. Hopefully it will be leaked soon.

While everyone is debating who or what the "mysterious ronin" is and whether or not the unicorn elf will come with a unicorn foal, may I just note that I adore the elf's dress? I might go for multiples of her just to kitbash some nymphs and wood goddesses!
