To hold the fender in place.

Yeah, but would a 1x3 orange tile with technic pin 1/2 with friction ridges do the same job. While looking a lot better:).

Thankfully the 1x3 reddish orange tile is relatively easy to source. The g500 has them so if i will get this set i have to try this mod first:).

The front fender is either not entirely on grid so a connector with a low friction pin is needed to increase the tolerance, or that fender has to be rotated during the build, so a connector with a low friction pin makes rotation easier.

It looks like the front fender is new as well. It seems 3 modules high on the rear, and 2 on the front. This is the first side specific fender.

The rear fender is also new. The side pinhole is on the same plane as the top pin hole. It's kinda like the new flat fender piece with a fender flare on the front.

I would not trust the high-res photo too much since it looks AI upscaled and even parts that are same don't look the same - like the curved slopes above the lights.

It would be a bit weaker connection, and also look kind of edgy (the edge might even collide with the fender piece). If it fits, I'd rather use this piece 77850.png

Does not exist in reddish orange though..

Something seems off on those fender pieces in the clearer images, so I'd agree with @Zerobricks that it might be the AI making stuff up.

I think the color is reddish orange.

So is that different from dark orange? If different, what other sets have dark orange? I thought space sets have reddish orange as well.

Watching Racing brick's review, while I usually really don't like that cam style of engine, it does appear well suited for this scale of car for obvious reasons, and the W16 is great in this car. I just wish they wouldn't use the cam engine in anything that's at even a slightly larger scale.

Colour vomit rant incoming in 3....2....1....

And yes, the rainbow colours are excessive and look like crap as usual. The outer shell is built with more complex angles and techniques than the insides. If the outside doesn't need to be colourvomitized for the target audience then I don't see a need for the insides to be either. But as Technic is meant to be (at least a little bit) about the internal mechanism then shouldn't some effort be put into making them look authentic also? Besides, the longest I look at a model is while I'm building it.

A few nice recolors, dark turquoise 2L pin joiners and some more reddish orange recolors.

I would have thought they would use 2 of the engine block mounts per end of engine but I just tried and cant  make it look as good so I guess it works, and there's a differential.

I like how the engine is implemented, nice trick!

Just curious, how do you imagine using the same piece to create different angles / offsets for two rows of pistons?

@kbalage how would this part 77850.png work for mounting the front of the front fender? Would it have enough space to fit? The headlights might slightly be in the way.. You could try it mounted on half pins with studs out, or maybe even better, without pins with the studs inwards. Not sure it would look better, and would hold the fender properly, but maybe worth a try. Or maybe even better for color matching, this piece 35480.png could hold the fender with just one stud connection in both parts, and a round black tile 24246.png could be placed under it to match the bottom grille section.

@gyenesvi the rounded 3x1 plate would work, but if you put it on in the official way, the half-studs below would poke out through the holes. If you cover it with tiles, then the depth of the assembly is already bigger than the original piece. I don't say some wouldn't prefer that solution, but it's also understandable why the went with the thinner possible solution. If you put the 1x3 rounded on inverted, that's considered an illegal connection, because you would have 2 studs connection in 2 pin holes from the same piece. If you add a 2x1 piece that would still allow the fender to move sideways.

How about 1 black 1x3 tile with 3 1/2 friction pin? Is this combo will work?

It might work, but the corner of the tile will stick out at the top and will look weird.
