[Poll] What is Your Favorite Castle Faction/Subtheme?

My favorites are the Black Falcons, Lion Knights/Crusaders, Black Knights, Dragon Knights/Masters and the Royal Knights.

Too early to tell for the 2025 releases, but it is likely that once I see them in front of me I'll include them in my votes.

Interesting...only 6 members voted for Wolfpack...but when MTS came out, everyone was crazy about that poor little wolfpack guy...not speaking about the CMF... :D Hmmm...

Polls like this always reveal that my opinions are mainstream. Maybe I'm boring, or maybe great minds think alike?

Not all I think. What about Dragon Masters? They were’nt great even back in 95´ when they came up. Now there is only one poor torso print and thats it… But Black Knights on the other hand… If they make a good comeback, Fans (me included) would be drawning in joy and happiness 😀

While I voted for my very favorites (Black Falcons, Lion Knights/Crusaders, Black Knights, Dragon Knights/Masters and Royal Knights), I still like many of the other subthemes very much such as Forestmen, Wolfpack and Dark Forest. In a way I like Fright Knights because some of the sets are great but others are not so great in my opinion. Classic Castle is also cool. I think Knight's Kingdom 1 and 2 are the worst Castle subthemes ever. After those we started getting nice Castle subthemes again and of the newer stuff Kingdoms is what I like the most. The Horse Knights/Snake Knights also look promising.

I voted for Trolls, Kingdoms Dragon Knights, Crownies and Forestmen. The first 3 are my nostalgic faves and Forestmen have the Robin Hood Aura ( though TBH despite them being a favourite I don't need anymore of them really as they make more sense as a smaller faction).

Why did you lump the opposing sides together for KKI & KKII? All the rest are separate.

The honest answer is that I noticed it when I had written all the names but thought that very few people will vote for them so I didn't want to empty half the fields ands write everything again. And so far they have only one vote together.

I would have probably voted for the Bulls separately given the option. But its all good - I liked the KK1 subtheme; sure the builds were simplistic, but I liked the new parts and the concept of the bulls as a less established faction, without a castle but only a siege camp in the forest. Rather a shame we didnt get proper footsoldiers for either of the factions.

Yes, sadly Knights Kingdom 1 was underdeveloped. It should've deserved more sets, minifigs and details. If given that it could've been released for many years.

I liked the Shadow knights, but the other team sucked. So I wouldn't want to vote for the combined subtheme.

I'm sorry that the poll was a bit limited but I had to draw the line somewhere. There are also several visible factions in Classic Castle that also are grouped together as well as the old and new versions of the Black Falcons and Lion Knights/Crusaders.

I realized that, and voted (among others) for that option solely for the 6083 joust set.

What I disliked most about Knights Kingdom II was the colours used for the knights, though I have to say the last wave they did with new knights looked much better.

I don't think CMF factions count as Castle here. If they do, then my vote would be for the S3 elf.

I voted for Black Knights, Black Falcons, and Fright Knights.  
 

I collected Pirates first and foremost when I was younger and didn’t really start to dive into castle (and other themes) sets until the Royal Knights/Dark Forest/Fright Knights years. Black Knights were always the coolest looking sets in the Shop at Home catalogs.

I grew up around the Forestmen era, but Black Knights was when I really had choice in which Lego sets I could get.  The visored helms and the armor were gamechangers.

But man, hard to pick favourites. Each faction had its own personality, it wasn't just more of the same with a different emblem.  They each added to the world.

Which is kind of sad to me how we are getting 4 more factions, but each lack a distinct hook or personality.  They're all being dropped in our laps without context, and I'd prefer something distinct to ground them into the world beyond being 'Castle Faction with new colors'

They could do with a steer as to who their allies might be, whether that is done through colours or heraldic symbols. At the moment it is not clear whether factions are allies or if there is one big battle royale with each faction for themselves.

But then, we do constantly hear how fans of unlicensed themes are more imaginative than fans of licensed themes and don't need to have a back story or be told what should be built, so maybe this is LEGO's response to that!
