...If you wanna get trolled ultimately hard today, go watch MandR's review of the UCS Death Star....

Epic :roflmao:

I don't know what's funnier - the video or the comments.  People having full blown melties over there.

Official DS pics are out and it’s nice to get more detailed pics. I can see the scale now of the set it is a proper full half sphere and looks deeper than the earlier pics would suggest, might be blind but they still haven’t shown the outside of it yet not that that is the main draw. I’m going to wait and see when a 3rd party retailer gets and puts it on a big sale only way I can justify it or maybe try and win it on a raffle on collie competition or some other Lego raffle site

The Lucrehulk is a similar thing- capital ships are also fairly rare. We go about a decade between our ISDs, it's been 16 since the playscale Venator, and the rebels and seppies barely get anything. (The first order getting their single Resurgent-class, and the resistance getting nothing). It's likely in the same vein that we've never gotten a playscale mon cala cruiser (either of the main versions). And if we do get a separatist flagship, one like the Invisible Hand is probably more likely than the Lucrehulk. The Lucrehulk is simply an odd shape that would be hard to represent at that $160ish playscale size and stability with any sort of real usable interior.

Yeah. A playset is very unlikely. I guess that’s why the only recent subline I like is the Starship Collection. The Executor, the Invisible Hand and the Acclamator are now in my collection. Something I didn’t think would be possible five years ago.

Wow. DS GWP just sucks.

(Day #133 of pestering Lego for a Tie Avenger)

Kind of a good thing in a way as it’s something we aren’t going to miss. No exclusive figures shit build. Most people who want it will buy it years down the line on sale. Only a few people will buy it on release.

Where are you seeing that it's a full half-sphere? Don't we already know from the schematic view on the box that it's flat at the back other than Palpatine's window sticking out? And the only curve at the front is the hangar sticking out at the bottom.

Are you looking at the 11th picture, of the set half-built and laid down?

Anyway the TIE Fighter is awful so I'm definitely not worried about getting it day 1. It being downscaled is one thing, but the proportions and lack of detail don't belong anywhere near a UCS set.

Can now confirm that Tarkin, Motti, and Tagge are all accurate (could only see the latter 2 in M&R's video) so I'm pleased about that. Fortunately I have some spare booted legs to complete them :hmpf_bad:, along with plain black ones for Yularen. Does make it all the more strange that they got the code cylinders wrong on Thrawn though.

Both the shuttle pilot and the female technician are missing their microphone headsets which is a bit annoying. Probably just lazy reuses of existing head prints. Nice new reddish-brown head with a chinstrap on one of the Navy Troopers though. Will hopefully be getting a few of those for customs (if they re-release it elsewhere which I think is fairly likely to happen at some point).

Edit: Actually, I just checked Vader's arrival in RotJ and the shuttle pilots don't have headsets in that scene so that's ok (doubt it was intentional though). Though with that said he's supposed to be wearing the same tunic as the Navy Troopers have, not the technician suit. I guess LEGO have been getting that wrong since 2017 lol.

Yeah I’m not sure what they were thinking with that GWP. Honestly some of the rooms do look really good but I just can’t justify paying so much for the whole thing.

Rather funny though, and one thing it did give us was a closer look at some parts of the box where it seems Motti and Tagge do indeed have the correct ranks and code cylinders! Not sure I like the choice of hair on Motti, but that's easy enough to change.

Yeah, i thought it was funny... on the inside. Though on the outside, i was visibly confused. And it's good for OT representation to finally get more Glup Shitto officers.

The comments... pretty crazy over there.

Lifestyle images of the UCS Death Star leaked early, if anyone wants to take a closer look.

If you weren't a fan of the 75300 TIE Fighter and thought it was too chibi style... wait until you see the GWP.

Good point. Though the M&G AT AT will also require a interior seeing as a hallway scene takes place inside it.

There has to be: 1 hero character (Luke/ Mando), 1 armoured imperial Officer (Veers/ guy in M&G trailer), 2 Snowtroopers and 1-2 AT AT pilots. It’s basically the same fig selection template despite being an entirely different movie.

I hope we get March set rumours soon. The suspense and my lust for one of the 8+ sets to be a Tie Avenger are killing me.

Also, a bit unrelated but it will probably result in us getting M&G set rumours, when the heck is Disney planning to start marketing M&G?

With the 2020 system AT-AT being as good as it was coupled with the phenomenal UCS one, downscaling the AT-AT for TMaG would be a downgrade in more ways than one - even if it’s technically not the same design as the TESB version.

Good point on the figure lineup, you can throw in ‘small side build’ as another commonality too - the normal OT AT-ATs had the speeder bikes and I presume the TMaG version will include a small AT-RT build (ironically this may be the first time we actually get a reasonably scaled AT-RT).

I suspect marketing for the film will pick up with the release of Tron: Ares or Avatar: Fire and Ash. What I find hilarious is a great quality leak of TMaG trailer is already on YouTube, it’s one of the very first hits you get when searching for it! It’s been the same reused trailer from D23 last year, Celebration this year, and D23 (again) this year. So far I’m not seeing much that makes this feel like a cinematic event rather than a big-screen version of Season 4, but I’ll remain optimistic it’ll at least be enjoyable. Just not a fan of the two flagship sets for the film seeming to be another Razor Crest and AT-AT given we’ve had both playscale and UCS versions of these vehicles within the past 5 years.

What a terrible gwp.  I am happy it’s this bad because I have no worries missing out on it.  But it is so bad that it makes the Death Star worse somehow.  Like it highlights the other faults with the set and makes them stand out more.  I am going to wait this one out and see if it ever goes on a deep discount.  I think I’d be ok with a deep discount and cashing in VIP points on top but otherwise probably won’t get this one.

I never honestly believed they'd field a $1000 UCS set and have something you'd struggle to believe was a 4+ set as the launch GWP. But I guess we'll just keep knocking those square pegs into those round holes.

Should have made it a Tie Raptor. An already chibi Tie Variant instead of that bastardisation.

Imagine if we finally get the Avenger and it's done in this scale lol

Tie GWP is not appealing in the slightest. I can't think of a GWP that would have pushed me from "maybe I'll get the Death Star for a 3X points or some hefty discount down the road" to "might actually consider getting this day one", but it's not this!

The GWP looks like a 4+ set.

I think it's actually worse than the 4+ TIE Fighter. The wings are barely bigger than the cockpit.

They should have used the resources to deliver more detailed minifigs of the Death Star instead. Or ideally, have that as a default plus make an awesome GWP.

The mystery reveal event is live right about now. What could it possibly be?! :oh3:

HAHAHA, Lego values the GWP at $35!! :iamded_lol::iamded_lol:

Saw a 360 view of the set and finally got to see the back and... I can see why they kept it hidden lol. Very utilitarian and unsightly. Man, I was waiting for some as yet unrevealed detail to move the needle, but other than a functional elevator - cool but not profound - I can't see anything that moves me to get this any time soon, if ever. I'm thinking I'll hold onto my VIP points and see if some big LOTR set or something else compelling releases next year.

Looks like it’s £900 for any UK based people curious about how much the DS is going to cost.

judging by the sales the falcon has had at Smyths and Argos can see it getting down to about 650 at some point in like 2026/7. (Thinking about all those nectar points lmao)

My brain was injured trying to imagine this.

I do like the Death Star, I think it has some flaws, but I do like the functions and the designs within.  I will likely pick it up if I can find it for 20-30% off someday (combined with whatever points I have to use).  I wish the figures had been done with more care (dual molded legs, arm printing, etc.) but I like the selection overall.

Honestly don't know what they are smoking in Billund. The GWP itself is a joke, terrible, terrible design! Usually the value is between 5-10% of the threshold, so I was expecting really something more substantial.

Whilst I don't think the GWP looks very good I think it's rather dishonest of Lego to include a picture with it integrated into the DS hanger on the DS page.

I'm still midly disappointed we didn't get more conference room officers and they haven't even bothered with dual moulding.

After seeing the official reveal of the Deathstar, the Black Pearl looks like a bargain compaired to this Palpatine planet crusher machine :roflmao:

Even when the Pearl costs €350 for 2800+  pieces.

It's just a diorama with an ugly backside while the Pearl is a full pirate:pir-triumph: ship with a smooth design that you can display at all angles. :pir-love:

I know, different themes but both Disney

Yeah I agree with all of this.

Also there's a red piece on the front of the TIE which shows on the outside which was clearly intended to be covered up, but due to the curvature of the front it is visible. Really sloppy, especially when they could've just made it grey.

I don't see why the cockpit is so huge anyway! It seems to be the same size as the actual full-sized set ones, with the only downscaled part of the ship being the wings (though despite this the cockpit is still very much lacking in details). I actually made a regular TIE Fighter to go with 10188; I designed it to fit on the rack included in that set for the little Vader's TIE. It was far, far, better than this, and I was only 13 when I made it.

And Vader's TIE in the previous sets is enough evidence that they could've easily downscaled the cockpit to match the wings while still being able to hold a minifigure.
