BrickBob Studpants Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Pics of the August sets are out! Aunt May & JJJ, plus a new Doc Ock in the train set! Hobgoblin with a new hood piece and MJ! Eddie Brock with a Venom head coming out of his body! Ultimate Ultron! Chitauri gorilla! Oh my! These are so much better than expected! Quote
Fenghuang0296 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Images are out! Blurry ones at least. The Iron Patriot Endgame set actually looks decent. It has an Iron Patriot mech, and I can tell even through the blurriness that it had a distinct helmet and torso design from the IM3 set version. Legs might be shared, not sure yet. Hammer Drones is terrible. Both figures are reused and the drones are brick-built. Massive miss, so disappointed. I guess it’s the cheapest way to get WM MK1 if you didn’t get Avengers Tower or the 2022 Hall of Armour. Quinjet looks disappointing, but people will still buy it just for Quicksilver. And it’s colourful at least so that’s fine. Spider-Man Train is just the train apparently, not a vignette. Love the new Doc Ock and JJJ figures though. Definitely copping this one for my railyard. Peter Parker’s Apartment looks awesome, love the new Hobgoblin with the Moon Knight hood in orange. Stunned that they reused Anti-Venom though. Makes me feel like an idiot for buying the Spidey mech. And Oscorp. Oscorp Tower looks incredible. New Green Goblin is the best yet, love the build, love that it’s a whole Modular-sized city block - would probably look a bit small next to the Bugle or Avengers Tower but I’m sure I can find a home for it! Legocentrico Posted May 1 Posted May 1 It's all wonderful! (except for the hammer drones :-D) but I wonder what the apartment will look like once mounted on top of 76311, since it has an entrance door as if it were on the ground floor iron patriot mark 2 ^________^ Quote

I really like the builds for the Spider-man sets, but the minifigures are a bit of a mixed bag. The Goblins and Doc Ock are pretty amazing, I love how they turned out. MJ is pretty good, I'm wondering if her look is inspired by her appearance in the Spider Man 2 video game. Jameson and May are okay, but the torsos aren't great. I'm disappointed by the reuses for Spider-Gwen/Woman, Miles. Edited May 1 by strangely Quote
Huigberts Builds Posted May 1 Posted May 1 These Spidey sets look great, I want them all, now I just need money, and space. Especially the figures are a huge upgrade. And we're still getting that spiderverse cmf series, huge win for Spider-man figures overall. Quote
Buckethead Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Was most excited for the Iron Man 2 set. Absolutely disappointed by the drones. They looks so slender and weird. I wasn't planning on getting the Spider-man 2 set, but it's grown on me. Doc-Ock looks phenomenal, as do JJ and Aunt May. Love the tentacles, and I'm glad they updated the hair and swapped out the gray torso & legs with brown. Quote
Childish Goblino Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Am I crazy or is the new Green Goblin just straight up Harry from the current Ultimate comics? I can't tell if it's just HEAVILY inspired by it or if it is the design 1:1. Either way it definitely makes the set a must get for me despite not having any space for it. Peter's apartment is sick too, new Hobgoblin definitely doesn't top the original for me but I'm glad he's getting some love at all. Quote
calebcold3 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 The Spider-Man 2 set looks absolutely amazing. 100% buying that set ASAP I need to see more images of Peter's Apartment and the AOU Quinjet before I decide to purchase them, but I like what I see. Oscorp looks good but not $140 good. The other sets revealed I could do with or without. Is the Miles Mask set now the only 2025 Marvel set left to be revealed? Quote
NXS7 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Aunt May fighting the g-force of that train to beat the living hell out of Doc Ock might just be the most badass thing I've ever seen 42 minutes ago, BrickBob Studpants said: Hobgoblin with a new hood piece Eddie Brock with a Venom head coming out of his body! Oh my! These are so much better than expected! The hood piece is Moon Knight's recoloured in orange, definitely not the colour I was expecting to see it reappear in first. Was also not expecting Hobgoblin, who last we saw had dual print but plain legs and isn't even a currently relevant Spider-Man villain, to have at least one of the best figures in this wave I remember complaining all the way back when the V-Rex was revealed that LEGO just love that Venom, won't even give us a half and half face for Eddie. Venom appearing in almost half the recent Spidey sets became such a meme and hearing 'Venom' was in this set was an eye roll moment. Seeing Eddie Brock feels like an absolute win for the theme Also I'm not even mad MJ is reusing that head, it just works for her After a few lackluster sets this year, hope for these sets was definitely low site wide, somewhat for myself too, but I'm pleasantly surprised by all of these (minus the Hammer drones, who annoyingly have more articulation than the mechs) 41 minutes ago, Fenghuang0296 said: Stunned that they reused Anti-Venom though. It makes me glad I didn't pick it up immediately. I was expecting a different Spider Woman/Girl from the announcement, so having recently bought the Venom car I do feel a little bit of an idiot, but at least a spare Julia can be useful for She-Venom or just a female Venomized character Absolutely agree on little Goblin Jr, quite a surprise. Unless someone can identify if any of the previous Green Goblin figures are based on one of his comic costumes, this is our first Harry figure since the original Spider-Man sets. Interestingly the figure looks like it's based on the current Ultimate comic run If a Daily Bugle sized Oscorp is too much to ask for, maybe we could see an Oscorp sized Daily Bugle coming up? I love the modulars, but one a year (2025 aside apparently) is a lot to wait for and the price tag isn't for everyone. Even though the small, shallow building interiors aren't ideal, I'd love to see these sets develop more in the future, maybe even including a comic based Avengers Tower and Sanctum (I'll be adding the 2021 Tower to these sets until such a hypothetical time comes) Quote
Clone OPatra Posted May 1 Author Posted May 1 Wow I love the Spider-Man 2 set and am so glad they're revisiting stuff like this. Never mind that half the figures don't "belong in the scene" because it's a great little homage to the film, and they (astonishingly) did it all right! Shame if it will really be $50 USD RRP (making that $70 or $80 AUD??) but patience is a virtue. Quote
Legofan04 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Wow, some of these look really great. Peter Parker's apartment: The exterior looks really good for a set of this size. The figures for this are actually pretty good. Sure, Spider-Man and anti-venom are lame, but it's worth it for that Hobgoblin figure, who looks phenomenal. His face and hood remind me so much of the design from the '90s show. Using the Moon knight piece was brilliant. While it seems Mj is made of reused parts (unless the jacket is new) it still blows my mind that this is the first version her the comic her in a decade. The spider drone is meh but will be fun for kids. Oscorp building: When we first got rumors for this set, it was honestly extremely disappointing. Now seeing the vision that Lego had, it looks a lot better. While Oscorp looks a little flatter than I thought it would, the color scheme really gives off evil scientist vibes. It being a corner piece hopefully suggests they'll do more of these I hope. I imagine to the right of Oscorp on the side is a dwelling for Eddie Brock. I never thought here would be a civilian version of him in a set. Although still venom it's a nice change of pace. Kraven and Green goblin look pretty good ( from what can be seen in the photo) but what's up with green goblin's face? It reminds me of the goblin design from the 2017 show which was a horrible look. Iron Man and War Machine vs Hammer Drones: It's meh. Age of Ultron Quinjet: It looks aright. Quick Silver is the real draw. Is Ultron new though? I can't tell but it kind of looks like the one from the mech. Spiderman 2 train scene: I'm so glad this isn't another vignette. It looks great and I'm so glad that Doc oc is not a reuse. Love the build for his arms. Iron Patriet endgame expansion: Honestly it's better than the endgame diarama from earlier year. That makes it a win in my book. Overall this is actually a pretty good wave all things considered. See where the budget for the summer sets went. It sure wasn't the figs in the Fantastic Four set Quote
Sinistereo Posted May 1 Posted May 1 The Spider-Man figure in the train set has a new torso, it has battle damage on it Quote
Mandalorianknight Posted May 1 Posted May 1 23 minutes ago, NXS7 said: The hood piece is Moon Knight's recoloured in orange, definitely not the colour I was expecting to see it reappear in first. The piece is sticking around, which means it'll be used for it's rightful owner, the fist of vengeance, the protector of the midnight traveller. Landlord to vampires. Lover of catgirls. PTSD giver to Taskmaster. Foe of the cue ball. He is coming. The goblin simply heralds his arrival. Khonshu wills it... THE MOON HAUNTS YOU! Lego, I know you can see this, you gave Brickbob his Babu Frick set. Give me the lineup. Kaine, Daredevil, Moon Knight, Luna Snow. My thoughts- overall pretty positive. Iron Men vs those guys from Overwatch- this is two polybags stuck together with the price doubled, by far the worst set. I'll buy it if it ever hits $10 just for the suits, but those drones are weird. Gauntlet Starfighter vs the Space Force- This is a solid 4+ set, no complaints. Like that it's Cap's turn to solo Thanos instead of Iron Man. Character Actor Alfred Molina takes public transit: AI algo optimization strikes again, trying to pick up those sweet sweet google searches for "spider-man train scene". But the set is good, I like it. I personally won't get it- I have the NWH Raimi figs and don't particularly care about a subway car- but it's a great set and I'm glad they made it. Best Doc Ock arms we've ever had, too. Big Boy battle pack: This is heavily going to depend on how much this set is supposed to cost. For $40-50 it's not a bad set at all, and if I see it for $40 or less I might end up getting it, but we'll see. I could see lego charging something crazy like $70. Eviction Notice: ooo-whee, this is gonna be a tough one to hold out for a sale on. I will- it's not worth $50- but I won the Deli companion set and I'm a fan of MJ and Hobgoblin, so this is definitely on the list once it hits a sale. They both look good- I'd prefer if MJ had the iconic heart shirt, but this one's not bad either. Oh Lawd they Jumpin Him/Norman Osborn gets mugged: Technically speaking, since Venom's build implies this is taking inspiration from the SUMC, the only villain here is Norman. This is a fun set for kids but those buildings are shells- not something I'd want to display. The figure selection is generally weak- Kraven and Goblin being the only new ones of note- but Goblin himself is a standout being the heroic version of Harry from New Ultimate- I'm surprised lego's got their finger on the pulse like that, whoever was asking for that universe's Winter Soldierverine might have a shot now. The Hunt for Raymond Reddington: Oh man. I won't buy this- I can't start collecting the mini UCS marvel ships. But this is damn near perfect. This jet looks INCREDIBLE. Figure selection is whatever- good to get a new quicksilver even if the rest is fairly lackluster- but this is about the build, and oh what a build it is, that thing is amazing. Quote
Scarilian Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Will probably comment more on these when we get higher quality pictures, but for now: Iron Man 2 inspired set with the drones is just a disappointment, they are depicted as the same size as Iron man and War Machine in the film... the entire point is that Justin Hammer is lazy and just slaps things onto salvaged Iron Man suits and then sticks a transmitter in the top. They should have been minfigures. Spider-man 2 inspired Train set is good and I really hope we get more legacy sets. Tackling Spider-man first the figure is a bit underwhelming, he's the focal point of the set where all the attention will be drawn, he's on the front of the set and will be the focus for display... and they can't deliver on printed legs or arm print - especially arm print considering the cheap Spider-verse set got some. I do appreciate they have went the extra mile by giving us the battle-damaged look including the rips around his chest. Moving onto Doc Ock, not sure the colour chosen really fits the outfit he was wearing for the sequence, though difficult to tell without better comparison images. The over-sized tentacles are fine but would have preferred something like in the Daily Bugle. These tentacles seem more like they were chosen for playability than display. The alternative face looks way too goofy, perhaps it was trying to adapt the 'butterfingers' expression but thats from a different scene - would have preferred a normal Lego smile which would fit with the scene better: Leaping through some other figures the Oscorp sets gives us Eddie Brock. Unsure if he's adapting a specific version, but it's nice to get the Venom over-the-shoulder aspect from Tom Hardy's Eddie while the figure looks more like a potential Topher Grace stand-in if we never get Spider-man 3 Lego. Glad we are getting a new Mary Jane Watson figure also, again unsure which version, interesting addition of freckles. Hob Goblin looks suitably creepy. Quicksilver is here I guess. Ultimate Ultron still undecided upon, not sure the colour scheme fits - as Ultimate Ultron noticably has a darker silver with a blue hue around him. Quote
CloneCommando99 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) Yooooooooo Is that Ultimate Green Goblin in Oscorp?! As for sets themselves: Oscorp and Quinjet = great Peter’s Apartment, Endgame battle and train battle = ok Iron Man 2 = meh Edited May 1 by CloneCommando99 Quote
Coryo Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) They really gave Eddie Brock a chicken does this technically make it a Tom Hardy figure? This is a really solid wave overall - except for the Iron Man 2 set which is super disappointing, I was hoping for it to be based on the zen garden scene The new Bucky Barnes face is also being used for both Eddie and Pietro, I guess it works since there's no real overlap between them, and it suits both of them more than it does for Bucky. Considering that all of the civilian characters have torsos and faces reused from other themes, what pieces do you think a potential Raimi MJ would use? Edited May 1 by Coryo Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Honestly, I am extremely surprised by this wave. Frankly, it might be the best wave of sets since the original The Infinity Saga one, back in 2021. Peter's Apartment looks awesome. The build looks great, quite neatly done—the interior doesn't disappoint either. The Spider-Drone is redundant, but whatever. Minifigures are good—Hobgoblin looks amazing, MJ is really well done, Spider-Man lacks dual-moulding, and Peter Parker is missing. Overpriced, of course. Oscorp is a really cool set too. The minifigures are mostly repeats, but I love that they chose Eddie Brock with the Symbiote attachment instead of just Venom. Ultimate Green Goblin is a really big surprise too, great choice and hope we see more Ultimate Universe references in future sets. Unfortunately, Oscorp itself doesn't look as impressive next to those buildings. I adore Brock's room with a chicken though. Extremely overpriced—outrageous price. The Train set is, frankly, incredible. I expected a decent train build with boring, reused minifigures—but alas, they actually put effort into it! Love that Peter has Battle damage and a new faceprint. Doc Ock looks fantastic, especially the tentacles. JJJ and Aunt May are surprising inclusions, but extremely welcome ones. The train is amazing and I love the transparent attachment for web and brick pieces. Overpriced, of course. Quinjet looks fantastic, of course. They always nail those, so I wasn't afraid about the quality of this set. The minifigures are all awesome, and I love that they can be displayed on the stand. Overpriced, of course. The Endgame set is quite nice. It works as a battle pack, which definitely is a good idea. The Chitauri gorilla was a great choice, and War Machine's mech looks good too. Minifigures are aplenty, and I love that Rocket is finally dark blue; Thor's hairpiece sucks because of the rubber cape though. Overpriced, of course. The last two sets suck though. Hammer Drones are a joke, and the minifigures won't save this set. The 4+ one is ugly, even by 4+ standards. Overall, this wave is a massive surprise. Most sets actually look like someone actually put effort into them, and the choices are really good and offer variety. Unfortunately, all of them are overpriced, so waiting on discounts will be necessary. I'll be getting the Train and Peter's Apartment. Quote
DaredevilFan Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) Gotta be one of my favourite Marvel waves in years, I actually like all the sets. I do wish Oscorp had more villains instead of all the reused hero. A comic shocker, Electro or lizard would have made it a must buy. Also very pleasantly surprised Iron Patriot wasn’t reused A fisk tower in the style of Oscorp with a Neslon and Murdock sidebuild is now my dream set. Come on LEGO 🤞🏻 Edited May 1 by DaredevilFan Quote

They messed up the helmet because of how prominent the hood and the mouth mask are, but that's just the designer's fault. Surprised they actually just made an Ultimate Universe minifigure out of nowhere, but pleasantly so. Quote
SEmrys Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I didn't see the Iron Man set at first, so first impression were that this wave is amazing! And now I have seen it... Honestly, still amazing, I just don't care about that set. IMO, when they've not got a movie to promote (let's just try and forget Thunderbolts is out today) this is exactly what I think the Lego Marvel theme should be. Oscorp has exceeded expectations. Some repeats, sure, but a bunch of new characters that actually look like who they're meant to. Ultimate Green Goblin is such a surprise - actually makes me glad we're getting ANOTHER Green Goblin (loving USM and was pondering how to make a purist not so long ago). I think it's so cool that they've actually delivered on what a bunch of people have been clamouring for modular wise (a multi-building Marvel set) even if it's not at the desired scale. Trying to fit these three buildings into my little modular city will be a challenge I enjoy if ever I get this. I just appreciate that you can buy this one set and you'll already have a bunch of play scenes to enact across the different buildings with different characters (or display). Peter's apartment is cool too, although I thought the rumours were that it would connect to the top of the Bodega. Still, it's a fun little set, good character selection (bar Anti-Venom) and regardless of whether I get it I'm glad it's out there for kids and adults alike. New Doc Ock looks spectacular, I think. So much better than the NWH version. I usually dislike the new tentacles they come up with but I think this may be the best yet. The train is a nice looking build as well. Honestly, I was expecting the Quinjet to be something I'm not interested in as I prefer the SHIELD design, but I think that looks great as well. A really good translation. As for the figures... 4 hours ago, Legofan04 said: Is Ultron new though? I can't tell but it kind of looks like the one from the mech. It's got the same type of design (no helmet) but it is new, the faceprint is the MCU design. And I think it looks solid! Better than the original ones, even without the extra piece. Quicksilver looks great too, which I originally thought would be the only reason I'd be interested in this set. Heck, even the 4+ set looks good to me. The goofy little Gauntlet ship is fun and we've got another comic (ish) Captain America figure, which I always appreciate. They just need to continue to make him lighter so we can stick some dual moulded arms on him without it looking jarring. As for the Iron Man set.. again, don't really care. But I'm on enough of a high from the other sets that it doesn't change my overall rating. Overall (kind of TL;DR): This wave impresses me on two fronts. As a long time Marvel fan and collector, I appreciate that we're getting new varied sets, and as a LEGO fan, I appreciate that they're delivering good quality sets that are creative, yet relevant, that kids will be able to have a lot of fun... ...assuming they and their parents haven't been priced out. Swordy Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) The Spider-Man 2 set… oh, it’s beautiful. Love the new look for Doc Ock (although I would’ve love a more mischievous grin for “Butterfingers”), damaged suit for Tobey is another level of greatness, JJJ looks good, although his hair is lighter than it should be, and Aunt May is a delight to see. Only complaint would be the lack of train track, especially at that price of $55. Regardless, I’m in love and I don’t care who knows it. Iron Man vs Hammer Drones… I don’t know, I dig it. Hammer Drones look more humorous than they should be, but they’ll be quick additions to the parts collection anyway. It wouldn’t have been $15 with 200 pieces, so it’s not overpriced in my book. As I’ve said before, Mark VI is my favourite Iron Man suit, and depending on if War Machine is exclusive or not, I might just bite. AoU Quinjet looks magnificent. One of the few times in recent LEGO Marvel where the figures feel like a bonus instead of the main attraction, Quicksilver aside. I would’ve preferred white over LBG, but whatever. At $130 and given I already own the ‘23 Quinjet, I’ll probably wait for a discount, but I’ll definitely be keeping a keen eye out for this one. Oscorp Tower looks fine. Loving the new Green Goblin, Kraven is okay (reusing Strange’s head, I noticed) but great to see again, and for those who want Peter, Gwen, and Miles, it’s great to see them together in one, non-4+ or 18+ set. Oscorp itself is a bit underwhelming in detail, although I like the aesthetic. Other buildings are neat too. Eddie with the Venom head is absolutely hillarious. $140 is too high, but the creativity showcased is commendable. Iron Patriot vs Chitauri looks epic. $55 is too high, but army-building Chitauri is a win in my book. Seeing Iron Patriot Mk II… fantastic. (Yoinks, I’m running low on superfluous adjectives.) With that Thor and navy-blue Rocket, it might be a pick up. Peter’s Apartment is, hm, amazing? Price may be high but I don’t care—I love this set and I will have it as well. A comic-adjacent MJ is a win. Hobgoblin with the Moon Knight hood is breathtakingly brilliant. Near-perfect balance between great minifigs and wonderful build, even if a bit small. My previous comment on price aside, I think its a decent value as far as the new cycle of overpriced LEGO. Overall… wow. Going from January and April to these sets is a hard whiplash. The passion and thought put into each of these sets is evident. Very pleased, nay, I’m overcome with joy. “Character Actor Alfred Molina takes public transit” and “Eviction Notice” sets (thanks @Mandalorianknight) are a definite pickup, no questions asked. AoU Quinjet is dependent on its discount (as a frame of reference, I only got the ‘23 Quinjet at $60) but a high priority. Rest are lesser in priority and very dependent on good discounts. 3 hours ago, Scarilian said: Moving onto Doc Ock, not sure the colour chosen really fits the outfit he was wearing for the sequence, though difficult to tell without better comparison images. Getting a new outfit besides the green done years before is welcome, not to mention accurate to the scene if memory serves me right. Head is reused from NWH Final Battle. My guess is that the smiley face is to reflect the moment in NWH between Otto and Tobey. Edited May 1 by Swordy Quote

I think it's real number one flaw is how uninspired the base concept is, we don't need another Spider-man 2 train, the budget should have gone to a more original idea. Like a hulkbuster or an endgame final battle, those would be a shot in the arm for the theme. Quote
