Looks great! I hope they keep the upscaled carts going for a while. There is a lot to do and I think they look great. Quote
SlimyGhoul Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I can't believe it's finally happening!! We did it y'all! :) Quote
Kaijumeister Posted March 10 Posted March 10 After almost 8 years, wow! The potential for a playscale theme really is immense as the scale doesn’t have to be as large to accommodate digi-figs. Traditional levels and locations from the games, the Odyssey airship, tonnes of stuff from the Galaxy games, lots of Mario Kart vehicles, the sky truly is the limit So apparently we can expect minifigures of Mario, Luigi, Yoshi (with a removable shell to seat a minifigure), and a big-fig Bowser at the very least. Very exciting! Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted March 10 Posted March 10 And the teaser is out! HOLY **** IT‘S REAL Someone call @just2good!! She‘s gonna have a field day with this! Quote
Murdoch17 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 It's about damn time! Better late than never, I guess? (Picture from Brickset) Quote
Izzynufc-2 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I’ve been waiting for this for years. The course building system ran its course ages ago. Sets always on clearance and limited potential, although towards the end, the sets were looking more accurate. Minifigure scale sets have way more potential, more accurate locations and vehicles. Would love to see them make sets from different games such as Super Mario 64 or Sunshine. I would like to see moulded pieces of Goombas, Spinys, Cheep Cheeps Quote
Clone OPatra Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I for one have come to really enjoy the aesthetic of the brick-built characters in the current type of sets (especially like the mega Goomba and Koopa from Big Bad Island, DK is cool though articulation is too limited, and that Wario is awesome), but I'm excited to see what they do for the Minifigure set(s). There are just soooo many moulds they'd need to do if they do a lot of characters, so I wonder if it will be a whole line or just occasional one-offs like they're doing for Zelda now? Quote
kevkipo Posted March 10 Posted March 10 And just like that, my interest went from 0 to 100. Now please dont make these sets un-affordable like the Zelda ones!! Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted March 10 Posted March 10 And the news just keep coming! The other Mario set this year is an arcade cabinet, according to the 🐐 Quote
Portal Out Posted March 10 Posted March 10 As someone who was here on Eurobricks 6 years ago speculating about minifigures and has said “this is the year we’re definitely getting them” every year since, it’s been a long road and this feels like such a win for the fans. Of course it’s a bit crappy that it took them so long for them to throw us a bone, but it’s hard to focus on that right now with how excited I am. Fingers crossed this is a proper line of sets at a variety of prices actually based on the games. Nintendo is pretty protective with Mario, so I don’t think we’ll have to worry about getting something like “Bowser’s Koopa Mech vs. Luigi’s Helicopter” like we do with Sonic. Quote

Really would like to see characters that weren’t touched on in the course building system King Bob Omb Whomp King Petey Piranha Goomboss Daisy Rosalina Waluigi Lumas I can see sets based off things like Toad Houses, Peaches Castle or Airships. What about sets based off different games? Similar to what Marvel and DC do with sets based off different films. Could we get a Bowsers Train that fits on normal track? Quote
Clone OPatra Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I just noticed that the preview Mario figure has regular size legs. That's a bit weird. I would've thought they'd give Mario mid legs so he'd be shorter than the likes of Luigi and Peach. I can't see them doing the Toy Story/Avatar limbs for Luigi. Quote
JohnTPT17 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I have four thoughts going through my mind at this point: 1. Wahoo! Finally! Can't wait to hopefully get some! 2. The printing on Mario is, overall, quite simple. Yes, the head is complex, but the clothes are overall fairly simple. This makes me think that this line will be more geared towards kids, and there should be more, cheaper sets (like Animal Crossing) as opposed to a handful of expensive sets (like Zelda). 3. I wonder if Mario will simply replace the Animal Crossing line? Animal Crossing hasn't felt like it's done great sales-wise, and Mario could easily take its place and budget. 4. Prediction for the January 2027 CMF: Vacuum Salesman, which will make new molds for the Poltergust 3000. 6 minutes ago, Clone OPatra said: I just noticed that the preview Mario figure has regular size legs. That doesn't bother me at all, honestly. I think 95% of minifigures fit just fine into the regular leg/short leg dynamic, and only a very select few need midi-legs or skinny Woody limbs. I suppose that, at worst, you could give him short blue legs so he can be like the pre-mushroom Mario in the 2D games Quote
hikouki Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I have never bought a single Mario set but will definitely buy these minifigs when they come out. Are we looking at several CMFs? It's funny on Reddit how people are complaining... initially complaining about the lack of minifigs... with this pic, some are complaining that the heads are moulded and not the traditional minifig head... there's not enough printing... blah blah blah. I can see a wave of sets, it’ll be very popular. I can see a Lego Super Mario Bros Van being made as well as collectible vehicles from Mario Kart games. Would like to see a Lego R.O.B minifigure as well as a dry bones minifigure too. Edited March 11 by Izzynufc-2 Quote
strangely Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Mario looks pretty good. I'm not usually a fan of molded heads, but I think this one turned out alright, with how they chose to do it. Torso is slightly too plain, needs some wrinkles or seams printed. Also the regular legs seem a bit tall for him, granted maybe this is supposed to be Mario after eating a mushroom. Now if they can just give me Peaches Castle and a cannon to shoot Mario onto the roof... Quote

So much potential with this type of sets! I don't mind if the minifigures aren't accurate length wise (Mario with mid-legs or Luigi with Woody-legs etc.), this is gonna be so great. If they keep going with some of the larger scale sets, that'd be fine, too. The Mario Kart sets are very nice all in all. Regards, Mitch Quote
nicknack116 Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I think the lack of 2026 Mario sets/upcoming retirements was pointing toward some sort of shift in the line. So glad it’s to minifigures! The current digital figure line mostly was inspired by the 2D platforming games (with some Luigi’s Mansion, Donkey Kong, and Mario Kart). I’m assuming LEGO won’t want to just repeat the same sets but now in minifigure scale, so I wonder if the minifigure sets will take more cues from the 3D games? Quote

Luigi's head might be slightly taller than Mario's to create the illustion he's a bit taller. Honestly their height difference is pretty insignificant I'd say so this is totally fine. The mid legs really suck anyway, it looks so disproportionate with the way too big hinge region. Quote
