So excited for the prospect of getting more and more Smash characters. It's now actually gotten interesting to build a Smash display since getting Isabelle, Sonic, Steve, BOTW Link, Young Link, Zelda and Ganondorf. Mario will definitely give us Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Yoshi and maybe Daisy, Rosalina + Luma and even Wario. Crossing fingers for a Wind Waker set at the end of the year which would give us Toon Link (my main). And as has been said yes Pokemon trainer and Pikachu are on the horizon. Sadly I find it hard to see a bit beyond this... Will Lego Kirby ever happen? Or Metroid? Xenoblade? Kid Icarus? Earthbound? The ones I could potentially see happen are Diddy and Donkey Kong and maaaaaybe King K Rool in an ideal scenario. Starfox perhaps if Illumination makes him a movie. But yes, having almost all the main cast together in the near future is a very exciting prospect!!

Exactly. Including them in these new Avengers movies is a hail mary from Disney purely because nostalgia is a powerful tool. Marvel movies are basically 'point at the screen because I recognised thing from before' now and Doomsday seems to heavily capitalise on that. That is to say of course these movies include good parts (Jackman's Wolverine being the stand-out of course) but I don't see kids currently watching these with fondness since they dont have nostalgia for them. Raimi's Spiderman on the other hand still holds up very well and are very accessible for kids today, making Lego sets of them to please and adult and kid audience was a good move. Aside from all of that yes these designs would make for incredibly boring minifigures. But if sets of these movies do release I'll eat my words and question if I even know what Lego's strategy is anymore. I see that, but wouldn't it then be way more exciting to create sets based on the X-men animated show since those designs are actually good / colourful?

I think Icons sets would be the way to go. Luffy vs Kaido, Thousand Sunny, Enies Lobby, Marineford all easily lend themselves to big Icons sets, while giving the anime fans what they want. Heck, do a Thousand Sunny with the whole crew, then do a Marineford to have a ton of warlords and marines (Koby, Garp, Kizaru, Kuzan, Akainu, Ace, Crocodile, Mihawk, Doflamingo), and you'll basically satisfy a lot of manga / anime fans already.

So bizarre to see people hyping the idea of X-men movie sets... I could've sworn people collectively wrote these movies off as bad adaptions just a couple years ago... I guess nostalgia runs strong.

Fully agreed. The amount of times I wanted to get Anime friends into Lego One Piece but they bailed out as soon as they heard its sets based on the live action. Heck, I haven't even bought any sets myself despite being a massive One Piece fan. Main gripe is the main character just doesnt look like Luffy. Don't get me wrong the actor is perfect, but if you want an anime lego luffy figure this just isn't the one. Same with Nami, Zoro, Garp etc. So yes Dragonball being a full theme gives me hope, please Lego even if its just a couple sets. Give the people who just dont care about the LA something as well.

Basically this. I don't know why Lego is still so aggressively allergic to adapting anything anime / manga but clearly those outsell most cartoons / modern comics today. Even Marvel and DC comics can't compete anymore with for example One Piece. I am legitemately convinced that anime based sets would sell so much better than the live action stuff, despite it's current trendyness on Netflix, One Piece never had to rely on trends to stay relevant. People will forget about the LA again in a month or so and will go back to watching the anime. Making a Sunny with the current Straw Hats would do so well. It would be the first time I actually wouldnt care about a price tag! And as others have pointed out, some of the LA sets would go together with anime based sets, as a lot of characters are very faithfully adapted anyway.

Every time these sets get revealed it makes me more miserable that this could've been my favourite theme of all time had it been based off the anime They really botched Dorry and Broggy, how did they make them look more like mechas than giants? I was actually excited for that set :( Dr Kureha not in her iconic outfit? Zoro still with that very ill suiting hairpiece and face? And why was a new mold wasted on Mr.13 of all characters! But luckily there's a lot of positives. Hiriluk, Tashigi, Mr. 3, and especially Chopper and Robin are expertly done. I'm so happy Chopper has a new body mould instead of being a small legged minifigure, which would've scaled so weirdly. Luffy's new face, the big teeth smile, is also very welcome. But the LA branding is still enough to hold me back from buying any of these sets... Lego, make an anime inspired Going Merry or Sunny and I will buy several of these sets to accomodate those minifigures. Some are genuinely passable as anime versions of these characters as well. But the biggest eyesores are still Zoro, Usopp and especially Luffy, who bares little resemblance to his anime self (not to the fault of the actor of course, who did a great job as him)

I think it'll be done with the head. Luigi's head might be slightly taller than Mario's to create the illustion he's a bit taller. Honestly their height difference is pretty insignificant I'd say so this is totally fine. The mid legs really suck anyway, it looks so disproportionate with the way too big hinge region.

And just like that, my interest went from 0 to 100. Now please dont make these sets un-affordable like the Zelda ones!!

What are the odds of Lego ever doing a set based on the Black Knight? (shooting for the stars here)

Wouldnt it be a good move to make a new Spiderverse set for the summer? Seeing as it could capitalize on the CMF and a new Spider-man movie coming out. Honestly I'd wish for the Spider-verse subtheme to become as prevalent as the MCU sets, it totally deserves it and the universe shows no signs of stopping. Aside from that it's been a looooong while since I've had this much fun collecting a CMF and displaying these colourful and unique figures.

And then watch the most accessible set in the range be a buildable triforce and Master Sword without any minifigures I also dont get this dripfeeding technique they got going on, same with the D2C's for Mario and LOTR for example. Wouldn't it be way more logical to release 3 sets at various pricepoints to entice several spending groups? Make a 50 euro set with Link and a Guardian for those who just want a simple diorama from BOTW, then make more expensive sets from 2 other Zelda games that people want for nostalgia reasons. If the new release will be say for example based on Ocarina of Time, you'd still completely neglect the groups that want BOTW/TOTK, Wind Waker, Majora's Mask etc.

Not to mention that a simple set of Link + a guardian would, 8 years after the fact, still defenitely sell like hot cakes. Lego truly shot themselves in the foot with this, wouldn't it be wise to get the most out of an IP that probably cost you a fortune to get a hold of anyway? I'd argue Lego didn't release an actual Zelda set for the general consumer but rather an exclusivity for the rich middle to upperclass. The stupid part is it feels like a me problem for not being able to afford it, yet I do prefer to spend that 300 on actual food and rent instead of a Lego set, call me crazy.

Still absolutely insane that the Link and Zelda figurines are locked behind such a huge paywall one year after the fact. I've been looking forward to getting a Link minifigure for so long but it's impossible to get him + the master sword and hylian shield for under 60 euros on Bricklink, I'd be insane to pay that for one minifigure. Lego has got to step up here and give the fans with a smaller budget for these sort of expenses some room. You can not expect every fan to dish out 300 euros for a set of their beloved videogame series.

So happy to have a minifigure series where im tempted to pick up every character, spiderverse and Lego was a match made in heaven imo. If we could get Noir, Peni and Ham down the line it would be great to recreate this:

Actually thinking about it, we've already seen that Gwen does indeed have 2 expressions, so I'm assuming its the same for most of the rest if indeed the hairpiece covers it

The one thing I dislike about getting leaks that early (the Spiderverse CMF) is that the wait until release / more info is agonizing :'( really curious to see all of them up close and in detail, I wonder if we have secondary faces on the maskless heads!

Maybe the wrong place to ask but has anyone seen any good MOCs of SP/DR from the end of Across the Spiderverse? My goal is to re-create the Spider Band from the end of the movie but am still looking for a good SP/DR!

I can only speak for myself, but I have skipped over plenty of Marvel sets purely because of a seeming lack of effort and on the flipside have considered buying sets from themes I wasn't even a fan of purely because of the love and attention that was poured into it. Recent example: I skipped out on the Spiderverse set despite being a HUGE fan of the movies. The spiderman minifigures (Miles and Gwen) were lackluster and I couldn't understand the need for a set based on the least exciting part of the film (not even talking about that atrocious price) They're rectifying this effort with the Spiderverse CMF, which looks excellent. However, I am considering buying the new Ninjago Legends sets, despite having outgrown Ninjago for 8 years now, purely because they look incredible. Effort and care shows, and I don't think the designers are to blame at all, they must be as frustrated with these restrictions as we are.

Big fan of OP so naturally a big fan of this!! I think they nailed what was presented in the live action show, and even made it so that fans of the manga / anime could enjoy it too. Does irk me a bit that the sets are being made based on the netflix show instead of the far superior anime, but maybe this leaves the door open to seeing those down the line.

I think a movie like this remains in the zeitgeist a bit longer than say the most recent Marvel movie, it's quite iconic but next to that also visually stunning. It's like lego releasing Endgame sets way after it's release, it's memorable. No need at all to wait another 2 years for the (probably) final Spiderverse movie. I'm also so glad we get diversity in sets / series this way, Lego shines when it does stylized / animated imo.

Woahh these are all wonderful!! Love that you can almost create the full Spider-band this way as well. So glad they didn't spare any expense! Pav, Gwen, Hobie and Margo having new hair molds and in Hobie's case even a new spike mold, so cool! The only one that doesn't quite work imo is Webslinger, the cool factor with him comes from the grey hair sticking out from the back, but they had to save up somewhere I suppose!
