Also is there a reason LEGO hasn't done Miraculous yet? It's an IP that's very popular with kids, has recognisable leads, a lot of minifig potential, and tons of merch. Plus mearly everyone in it except for Marinette's parents is drawn very tall and very slim, which means that for once minidolls would be an accurate representation of the source material. (Though I'd very much prefer minifigs.) Maybe it isn't American enough since it's set in Paris?

I don't believe it's very well known in america, which is one of the larger markets, so that would be my guess. Not saying it's a good or bad thing but it's probably why. The only time i can think of where we got a theme based on something not known in america was the Journey-to-the-west-inspired Monkie Kid, which was done to break into another major market, China. I don't know if China even has access to Miraculous.

Shame- I'm not very familiar with the show but the animation looks very nice. French animation is always solid, I loved the Iron Man cartoon from that French studio when I was a kid.

TMNT would be nice to get full sets of again. We'd never get a Last Ronin-marketed set, but sneaking in a Last Ronin Michealangelo minifigure into something would definitely have me bricklinking it at the very least.

Though my one remaining dream for a TLG theme, now that Indy and Dune got sets, is for Transformers to break into a full Energon Universe theme with Void Rivals sets. A theme based on comics without associated cartoons or movies is never going to happen, but rumor is the Energon Universe IS getting a cartoon, so it'll all hinge on whether or not they can dull it to TV-14. Void Rivals itself isn't anything too violent or dark for lego (though I buy one volume at a time so maybe something horrible happened between issues 17 and 25), but the associated Transformers comic has some human deaths that if adapted to a cartoon would definitely hit a TV-MA rating.

Thanks to the latest Ideas review results, we will get sets based on the Smurfs, Power Rangers, Downton Abbey, and ET! *huh*

Can’t say I expected them to pick 5 projects (plus one from the parking lot), let alone these specific licenses!

Isn't Smurf a Nickelodeon thing now, good news for the LEGO character you've always wanted back to return...

Love the fact that Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers will become a LEGO thing! :excited:

Very excited for that one :sweet:

I actually believe The Smurfs IP is owned by Studio Peyo, which licensed The Smurfs rights to Nickelodeon.

Somehow, I managed to miss the three set numbers that popped up on brickmerge at some point, 72421 to 23, until I came across them today while browsing brickset. All three sets are scheduled for June. Are there any rumours what theme these belong to? Can’t find anything in the usual places  Has to be a licensed theme, considering how close the numbers are to the Pokémon sets (721XX) while still being far enough away to be a separate theme.

Fingers crossed it’s an exciting new license! :excited:

@just2good just released a video, detailing why she thinks SpongeBob might return! :excited: The strongest argument is definitely that the current license holder announced that all of their products have to leave shelves by the end of the year, indicating a new license partner with an exclusive deal, which TLG tend to have. It’s by no means confirmed though. Time to huff some hopium! :laugh_hard:

Knowing how these things usually go, we’ll go the DC route and get a Brickheadz two pack, a $400 Krusty Krab (gotta tap into the nostalgia bait market), a brick-built Spongebob statue (not a remake of the Build-A-Bob, though), and a 4+ Spongebob’s house that’s the best set in the wave.

(Can you tell I’ve become a bit cynical about LEGO in recent months? )

In all seriousness, I’d love a return to the playsets.  I think a black-box Krusty Krab has been pretty much inevitable at some point, but I’m hoping if they did bring back Spongebob, that we’d get at least a 3-4 set wave of playsets.

Make that a $200 Krusty Krab and I’d unironically take it all :excited: There is so much that has been added since 2012 that a revived theme could benefit from, be it in terms of product categories (4+, 18+, Brickheadz) or pieces (dual-moulding, moulded waist attachments like tails, and a whole bunch of now-regular pieces that didn’t exist back then).

2026 is already on a good track to become a top contender for my favourite LEGO year ever between the Ocarina of Time set, the two Deathly Hallows sets, Cobb Vanth’s speeder, the Creel House, the best Marvel wave in years, the upcoming Pokémon theme, more One Piece sets, and the rumoured Minas Tirith set, and if SpongeBob actually returns on top of all of that, it may just take that crown

Cool. Hope this somehow opens up licensing paths to get sets for The Martian or Interstellar.

Edit - I guess this takes up the ~$100 Icons spaceship slot, so we probably won't get another throwback Space set. I think I'm ok with that. It's a brand-new license from a brand-new story, it's got two cool minifigs, so it's fun and fresh and new. However, if it ends up being a diorama or a midiscale ship, I'll still want another throwback Space set. The Hail Mary is a pretty big NASA-styled ship, so it's hard to imagine off the top of my head how they could make a good minifig playset from it.

Pretty sure I’ve said this before, but considering how much their mech builds have been improving these last couple years, a Gundam license would be awesome(G or Wing would be my preference).

Project Hail Mary gets an Icons set in March! 2 minifigs (Ryan Gosling’s character plus a spoiler character), 826 pcs for $90-100. Can’t say I saw that one coming :laugh_hard:

So excited for this! Loved the book. I'd really recommend reading it. I hope the film does it justice. Can't wait to see the lego set!

Excelent book! better than Artemis and maybe even better than The Martian. Curious to see how they will make the "spoiler character" :steve: not an easy one in film or lego.

Actually, I guess the canon length of the starship Hail Mary is only 33 m or 47 m, depending on the source. That's plenty small enough to make a decent playscale version, probably using a lot of City airplane parts. We probably won't get a playscale Hail Mary in a $90 Icons set, but it's doable.

Looks like our mystery theme could be K-Pop Demon Hunters! :excited: …with minidolls :jollyroger: Dangit!!

We can always hope that we get something with minifigs later, like Wicked ended up getting... Hopefully those sets were popular enough that Lego would consider it worth it! I'd be quite interested in a minifig-based set, but I'll pass on mini dolls.

I assumed that KPDH must be the unknown theme releasing in June, but upon reflection that may actually not be the case given the age ranges. 72421 and 22 are both 12+ and 72423 is an 18+ set. Not impossible, but 12+ minidoll sets aren’t exactly common, and the 18+ set would surely have minifigs

Looks like our new mystery theme remains a mystery for the time being!

@TandNbricks states in his IG story that a licensee having to remove their products by a deadline, showing Bluebrixx and their Star Trek license as an example, will happen again. And we already know that Area X has to remove all their SpongeBob sets from shelves in 3 days.

Put this together and yeahhhhh… Could it actually be happening?! :excited:

Don't give me hope.

A new SpongeBob theme with all the works? Maybe even new molds for the classic gang?
