So with the white baseplate being released, I can’t help but remember that when the blue one released the tan one vanished. And blue is currently out of stock on Shop@Home. Can we expect the blue baseplate to be retired?

Blue still in stock in Europe and US stores , I usually check other regions to check for retiring soon messages.

I hope they realise that blue is a core color for LEGO water and won't just retire it suddenly, also hope they won't replace it with some lighter color (they did that with the green one)

The main issue on the website is why they still use a 48x48 picture for the white one.

This. If they would be about to retire it, I think we would know that in advance and will be able to get them before they gone. I agree, that it's unlikely for them to retire the blue one. Tan is a different story, like the white one, which I believe would also be less popular a year from now. What I don't quite understand is the reason they are keeping the 48x48 grey one and not releasing a 32x32 version of it, even though it has been manufactured for many years now.

I know this is an old thread but now the blue baseplate is listed as "retiring soon" on Lego Shop at Home. Is this the end or will there just be new packaging material again?

Personally, i dont’ think it’s the end as they had released baseplates in new package materials a few years ago, if i rmemeber correctly. So i would guess it’s a new package materials.

I really hope that's the reason.

But then all Baseplates should retire not only the blue one. On the other side, would make more sense to me to retire the white one instead of the blue one, so who knows.

The sometimes swap colors being produced. Perhaps blue is being replace with another color, like what happened with green being replaced by bright green, or tan with blue.

Well tan of course would make sense for desert enviroment, but I really don´t see them replacing it again, I mean if anything having desert, ice, grass and desert on the shelves on the same time would make more sense and all in all ice seems like the least viable of the existing ones.

Tan baseplates haven't been on shelves for eight years (2018). Blue has been around since 2022 (or 2015 if you count the old packaging) so LEGO probably is thinking it's time for a change after 11 years.

Just bought one with my insiders points. Prices will rise in the after market, and this baseplate is most useful for Pirates theme. :pir-triumph:
