xenologer Posted April 22, 2008 (edited) V-LI-02A Basically the Big Brother to my Utility Rover; a town scale Articulated Dump Truck Theres a bit of overlap in the character of space ground vehicles and construction vehicles...both very utiliatrian but I'm putting it in town for now. You can see some of the articulation and suspension system working here: Just like the real ADTs, it has rocker arms on the rear wheels per side, and pendular suspension on the front cab/axle. And of course I think you'll want to take a close look at how the sides of the dumper bucket were done. Good price on this too, fits right in along the 15$USD cement mixer and recycle truck... want to buy one? LDD Ver2 Edited March 30, 2012 by Phred
Grimer Posted April 22, 2008 Very nice. Some really good design choices and it's a useful class of vehicle.

xenologer Posted April 23, 2008 Thanks for the compliments. I've gone and made a few changes that slightly reduce the price (internal bricks you cant see) also the nose construction changed a little (internaly) to make the bumper a little stronger, at least I hope so, hard to say till I test a real one. Grimer Posted May 8, 2008 ... want to buy one? I did. But a bit changed. Had to be edited for parts availability and while I was at it I added some cab detail. And edited it for colour preference as well. Looks very good and the articulation works very nicely.
Asuka Posted May 8, 2008 Nice job, Grimer. And that baby looks even better in real bricks, too!

Badsneaker Posted May 9, 2008 Great looking dump trucks! Both the LDD version and the real look excellent. I may do one in 8 wide with a 6 wide window using 43.2 x 28 tires and wheels!
xenologer Posted May 9, 2008 (edited) But a bit changed. Nice One! Your color changes look really good. Bumblebee. And good thinking with the window replacement. I don't know whats up with TLC... they gave us the new brick pallate and it seems they swapped out those train windows with simpler moulded variants, but then they still have yet to get them into stock, so we can't buy em! Same with the new sticker sheets, I just cant use em yet... Edited May 9, 2008 by xenologer
Grimer Posted May 10, 2008 I found I had to make a small change to the design to make it more robust. Unless you let the hinge rotate 90 deg, it's a bit easy to make the load carrying part break off. If you want to retain the hinge, raise it by one plate. Me, I found a larger, stronger hinge. I think two of them, in different colours, would make good presents for my nephews. Seems it would work quite fine as a 4-wheeler too, so I'm planning on trying a slightly shorter variant.
