When I want to give up then chat with my friend, and he inspired a new idea how to create a LEGO XXL Actuator only using 1 XL motor. For a while now, I'm working on a crawler crane. As discussed elsewhere, progress has stopped and this topic is an attempt to jump start the build again and finish it so it can join my collection. So here it goes: The project started with the launch of the 42042 Crawler crane and was a simple MOD at first, but quickly evolved into two MOCs. It didn't like the proportions of the body and cab of the 42042 and wanted to add some features like expandable or removable tracks. The first LDD sketches looked something like this: As some will probably notice, at this point I was still considering to make its larger brother the Liebherr LR1250 as well as a HS855HD. The LR1200 plan has been dropped, because it was simply a bigger version of the 8288 and brought nothing new. During my research, I found the HS855HD was more interesting, because it's a so-called duty cycle crane, a very versatile machine designed to do repetitive tasks efficiently, for example dragline work, soil compacting, (un)loading bulk materials etc. One of the consequences is the fact it has a free fall function on some of its winches, making it possible to drop the bucket or tool to either save time or to provide impact force (you can see this feature in and ). This seemed a nice function to try to implement in my MOC.After a few trial and errors, I came up with this internal mechanism: (The newest clutch parts are not used yet in this image) The controls are very similar as in the 42042: each winch has one switch with two positions: one for winding up the winch, one for winding it down. It is powered with the L motor of the 42042. My addition is the clutch system (in yellow) for the green and blue winch. Push the lever and the winches are simultaneously disconnected form the rest of the system and will unwind under the weight of the tool attached. Releasing the lever will allow the spring to re-engage the yellow clutches, linking them again to the drive. Meanwhile, I also wanted to capture the looks of this machine. It has linked manual expandable tracks, a tiltable cabine, and a inspection hatch. This is the current state of the tracks and body: At the moment, the bottleneck is the fact that the clutch system has too much back-lash or too much play to fully disconnect. I need to move the spring closer to the lever I think, which is rather challenging due to the compact build. Another issue to be solved is the expandable tracks which seem to snag on the chassis when under load. I would like to make my MOC as versatile as the real machine and design the parts to convert it in a dragline, double hook, clamshell bucket or foundation excavator configuration. To be continued ...

Hello fellow Eurobrickers, I would like to present my possible TC8 entry and WIP of a Liebherr LR 1300. Link to reference image (Way too large for eurobricks); http://c-bceasncc.la....d6hxJTXEZS.jpg Functions so far; Motorized through a distribution gearbox, 5 winches Slewing Drive (hopefully through a subtractor) Manual, Cabin rotation from transport mode to operating mode. Pneumatic cabin elevation. On the to do list, Complete opposite side and counterweight area. Design main and rear booms, and luffing jib. Build base and crawlers, while hopefully maintaining the ability to separate crawlers from chassis. Build wheeled super-lift. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, ~John P.S. Hey all, This is the crane I'm making for the TC8 competition, a Liebherr LTF 1045 truck mounted crane, mounted to an 8x4 Scania P380 chassis. The Liebherr LTF 1045 is a crane which is factory fitted to either an 8x4 MAN, Scania, Mercedes or Volvo chassis with the crane fitted on a Kenworth T800 in the USA. It has a lifting capability of 45 tonne and a 52m boom height when fully extended. My MOC is in scale 1/16.5 and will be fully RC. The crane's boom will be approximately 1.5 metres long when all two stages are fully extended. The RC functions are: Drive: one XL motor Steering: Servo motor Stabilizers folding/unfolding: M motor Stabilizers extending/retracting: M motor Superstructure rotation: M motor Boom elevation: L or XL motor depending on space Boom extension: L motor Hook raising/lowering: M motor Other functions: Stabilizers lowering/raising: Independently controlled using pneumatics Opening cab doors Tilting cab (probably) Straight six engine Full suspension Enough chat, time for some progress photos: Chassis with the stabilizers retracted And stabilizers extended and lowered A closeup of the stabilizer setup The main boom at its full length of 71 studs, with two stages going inside of it \ What I have of the first stage so far, not the actual design but just an indication of the extension length from just one of the stages. That is my progress so far and I am currently working on improving the stabilizer design because at the moment they are too high and bulky. Hello everybody, Im a new member on eurobricks and I want to share with you my new lego construction. Probably I finished building the world's tallest crawler crane model with LEGO. The model has already been described by me on my Polish website: naturalbornuser.pl. This is a representation of Liebherr LR 11000 and measures 700cm height: The model is my biggest and heaviest construction. Is higher than my previous model of the crane by 4 meters, was built entirely of original LEGO - except for the line and load within counterweights. Number of blocks estimate at 15,000, and the weight of the vehicle including counterweights was about 45kg (the weight of the model without counterweights this 22kg). The construction lasted 5 months. The model is a representation of the crane Liebherr LR 11000, but the proportions of some dimensions have not been preserved - especially I mean the widened portion rotational located directly on the turntable and this was associated with one of my assumptions about the construction of a specially extended arm and over the turntable. It is of course free standing construction. The model was not a collective work, but in order not to expose themselves to voices of opposition on this issue can not ignore people who helped me build: Invaluable help my brother, without which setting the vertical structure would not be possible: At the beginning of the few technical data model: height - 700cm tracked chassis length - 78s the length of the turret - 120s overall length of the vehicle (not including arms or counterweights) - 167s the width of a tracked undercarriage - 66s weight - 22kg (weight of counterweights - 45kg) Track drive - 2x XL motor with a reduction 1:40 the rotation of the tower - 2x XL engine driving a cart with counterweights (function absent when folding to a maximum of the rest of the functions of the crane (3 winder) - 6x motor XL two on rewinder (2 XLe to lift the whole arm, 2 XLe to straighten the second section of the arm, 1 XL - winder hook, 1 XL - extra winder for lifting the main arm) number of cells Track - 210 estimated target number of pieces - 15000 the estimated length of the rope - 100m Control electronics - 2x tower IR The only not lego elements are the line and load in counterweights. As soon as we found the right place to spread vertically crane sat down to prepare it for transportation in short it split up into fragments exceeding 120cm in length and repackage most of them in black foil, which stiffened the long parcels for transport to the hall offering 7.5 - 8 meters distance between the floor and ceiling. Each item has been checked against damage during transport, which could go unnoticed then lead to the weakening and destruction of the whole structure. Then he began to lasting a few hours of the submission process model with ten elements, which has been divided for transport. First MOC post here as a new member, but I've been around other parts of the 'net for a little while... Anyone hoping for a PF behemoth from the title might be disappointed to find a 10-wide minifig scale model, but it does work! Liebherr LTM 1130 - 5.1 by TechnicNick, on Flickr It's got progressive rate steering on all five axles and the four stabilizers emerge together. These two functions are controlled by gears on the back. Boom luffing, extension (3 sections) and hook have controls on the body of the crane. Here's a small scale mobile crane loosely based on the Liebherr LTM 11200. Not all of the details were implemented due to scale, since I wanted it to be functional and detailed. There was also a little bit of cheating with the counter-weight being a slab of steel taped on (it would've taken too many of bricks otherwise). The images don't seem to be embedding so links will have to do for now. Here it is with luffing jib and super-lift. moin moin bin seit ein paar Monaten auch noch dabei ein Hilfskran für meinen LTM 11200 zu bauen ich habe mir den Liebherr LTM 1350 6.1 ausgesucht weil ich dieses Modell auch spannend finde er ist schon fahrtüchtig aber das Hauptaugenmerk sind die Kranfunktion im Moment bin ich dabei den Ausleger zu bauen auch mit den großen V ( keine Ahnung wie diese Einrichtung heist ) naja hier mal ein paar Bilder (rough)Translation (by legolijntje): For a few months, I've been building this crane as an extra crane for my LTM 11200. I chose the Liebherr LTM 1350 6.1 because I find it an exciting crane. It is already driveable, but the main focus are the crane functions.
