My phase 3 for the Gate category of AoM. I hope this is sufficient for the title :D I had fun making this, because I did not plan anything, and just looked how it would turn out. The building has some interiors, but the bad part of not planning, is that I couldn't really make pictures of the inside :P Im quite happy with how it turned out, especially with the stonework. I need to work on the roofing though, yet thanks for the guide SK :P I spent most of my salary on lego this month, but maybe I should go for a suitable camera one time. One way, I feel the money used for a camera could have been spent for bricks, but the pictures will probably improve a lot :) Usually I edit the photos with photoshop, but due to me quitting my studies, I do not have the license to use it anymore. Im starting an IT study this year, so I might get the licenses at discount :D Gatehouse phase 3, AoM by David de Rijke, on Flickr

Here's my build for the second Gatehouse phase. I used a similar ground texture to what I did in my previous build, “Start of a Journey,” and tried a different stone wall design for the gatehouse. The warrior returns to Nordheim’s welcoming gate after a long journey through the clan lands of Mitgardia. More pictures are available on my website: link Thanks for looking!

So here is the first of some incoming builds. I wanted to create a wooden wall without pallisade bricks, I think I succeeded. (Quite partsconsuming though :) ) This was the first time I ever touched those 3-leave plants, I just ordered them and never had them before, so I had to try how to work with them. (apparently they are much more flexible than I imagined) The trumpet is gonna pop up a lot, I play it myself so I love that brick. It is also my first real shot on an irregular base, I think it turned out fine, but it could have been much smoother. I actually want to create my own settlement, im working on a story for it right now, this will be included too. (I know, the 4 categories for a hamlet all need to be fullfilled, lots of work to do :D) Wall0-2 by David de Rijke, on Flickr Wall0-1 by David de Rijke, on Flickr Wall0-3 by David de Rijke, on Flickr Wall0-4 by David de Rijke, on Flickr Wall0-5 by David de Rijke, on Flickr (and this is where I use yellow rounds for)

Here is my Barracks Phase 3 build for Age of Mitgardia. It was actually made in 2015, but it took me forever to get around to making the other barracks phases. I used SNOT 1x2 tiles for the stone walls, and quite like the stone block texture it gives. Daydelon barracks is a prominent barracks in Mitgardia, and houses from all over the guild send their sons there to be trained as warriors. In fact, it's not overly unusual for citizens of another guild to train for a time in Daydelon. Thanks for looking, your comments are always welcome

Here is my build for Barracks Phase 2. It's a bit of an unorthodox training ground, but I thought it would make sense for Mitgardian warriors to be well trained in how to survive Mitgardia's icy climate. Also, this is my unofficial entry to the Natural Beauty category of the Summer Joust. The smaller pine tree is based off of mrcp6d’s design. Part of any Mitgardian warrior’s training is to learn how to survive for days outside in the frigid cold with minimal supplies. Snow shelters offer relative warmth during the night if well constructed. More pictures: link Your comments and suggestions are always appreciated

Out in the woods of Mitgardia, Frode Vitr built a small hut to live in during summer to work at his smithing outside. A bellows forge was built nearby to heat pieces of metal for shaping, along with an anvil and quenching tub of water. Steel pieces of a wide allotment are kept around for various projects, some of which are in various stages of completion. The hut serves Frode and Stian well for simple living quarters when they are working, as it provides protection from the weather and a safe place to store bedding and food. When word came that there were invaders, called the Algus, moving in from the Frozen Beyond, Frode’s skills were requested in making weapons and armor for Falkidalr. Frode heats four swords to finish shaping the blades. Stian works the bellows to blast the coal into blazing embers to speed up the heating process. Their two dogs, Koryn and Jaryn, are constant companions. The dogs also provide a watch to alert of danger… such as when three Algus scouts are seen approaching the hut! The icy invaders appear a threat, but Frode quickly grabs the coal shovel and scoops up some hot coals. Dashing the coals in the face of the frontmost scout, Frode sees the scout disappear in a cloud of steam. The first scout was reduced to a pile of armor in a pool of coal and water. With no time to lose before the second scout would be upon him, Frode grabs two of the heated-blade swords from the forge. He yells Stian’s name to inform him of the plan, but the name is enough information as Stian runs toward the forge. Charging the advancing scout, he swings to parry the scout’s attack. The hot blade slices right through the icy haft of the scout’s pike! Following through on his strike, Frode slashes the other blade, beheading the scout with the searing steel. Stian grabs the other two heated blades to aid his father. As Frode’s blades cool, he steps back to allow Stian, with blazing hot blades, to confront the third scout. Stian’s quick left-hand strike shatters the shield of the heavily armored scout… Followed shortly thereafter with a thrust directed into the eye-slot of the Algus’ helmet, dispatching the invader with a hiss of steam and a clatter of its falling axe. Frozen invaders are no match for heated steel! “They have come this far south!” shouts Frode as they drop the cooled blades. “Likely, there is an approaching army of Algus that will reach Falkidalr soon. We must warn them!” Stian and Frode run for their horses. Not to be left behind, Koryn and Jaryn run with Stian and Frode to sound the alert. The smithing site is left in disarray with the battle rubble as the men and dogs rush to warn Falkidalr. A border outpost is one of the first defenses a village can have. High enough to view a large area around the village, the lookouts in the outpost are able to keep an eye on goings-on. If the need arises, a messenger can quickly travel from the outpost to the village to warn the people of danger. Near Falkidalr, an outpost is constructed as a preliminary defense. Built on log stilts, the outpost towers above nearby hills and forests. A thatched roof reinforced with leather-covered decorative shields covers the top to keep out snow and rain. To accommodate the watchmen, a tent is provided for sleeping and a fire with a pot and tripod is provided for cooking food. A fence surrounds the base camp to provide a barrier to the native fauna and flora. Weapons and armor are kept on a rack in case of need. Now, the village of Falkidalr will not be easily surprised by any invading danger. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for viewing! Comments and Constructive Criticism are appreciated. The inspiration for this build came from AoM, but the inspiring ideas were the SNOTed logs and the leaf pieces hanging on the grass stems. The tripod over the fire proved to be challenging, but I liked the results. -Slegengr

EDIT: The title should be: AoM: Store Phase 2: Danyel's Smithy. If a mod could fix that, it'd be great. An entry into the Castle Goes to Space contest on classic-castle. I chose to redesign the set 5890, Squidman's Pitstop, into a medieval blacksmith shop. I'm really pleased with how this turned out, and it was very fun transforming the space details in the set into medieval features. Danyel is a capable blacksmith that never lacks for work at his smithy, and his wares are often sold by his wife in the market at Daydelon. Space set it's based off of: More pictures here: link. This is my build for Tower Phase 2 in Age of Mitgardia. Battles occured throughout the North, as the Algus continued their relentless push into Mitgardia. A Nordheim watchtower had spotted a group of Algus for the village itself, and what warriors the town had left were quickly gathered to try and hold off the icy foes. The men were led by Anar, a veteran warrior famous for his dragon forged spear. Much to the men's relief, the Algus didn't seem capable of freezing the Mitgardians as they charged into battle: In fact, Anar even managed to slay one of the fearsome beasts: Upon which the other Algus made an organized retreat This gave the warriors new hope, as it seemed that the Algus weren't invincible after all. I tried a new wooden wall design utilizing sideways plates and tiles to give a planking effect. And credit for the roof design goes to Siercon and Coral.

This is my build for Tower Phase 1 in Age of Mitgardia. Many small hunting cabins lie in the wilderness of Mitgardia's clan lands. Clan hunters use the cabins as refuges from surprise blizzards, or as rest stops during long hunts. Some of these cabins have been built on top of the ruins of old fortresses: Nothing real fancy this time, just a quick build to get me going in AoM again

The journey across Historica to Nocturnus was going to be a long one. Therefore, it was necessary for the entire army to be able to ride, and ride well. Crynis tasked Horsemaster Ulf with training each new recruit in basic horsemanship. The recruits were led into the muddy farmyard one by one, and assigned a horse. Ulf deliberately gave his pupils easy horses to start with, then more difficult ones. One new recuit who particularly stood out was a young farmer named Detlan, who took to riding like a duck to water. With a canny smile on his face, Ulf assigned him the most difficult horse of them all, a black stallion who was known for his many tricks. Poor Detlan was in for a shock! [ C & C welcome ]

The Mitgardian county of Stormhold was in turmoil. Following the mysterious disappearance of its ruler, Berelan Gryffen, three months ago, the land had quickly fallen into disarray. Mountain bandits and orc clans had begun to raid the villages and there were even reports of Drow in the area. Fear spread among the local people and many considered emigration to other areas of the guild. Crynis Elchafron, Berelan's old friend and trusted ally, finally returned from a scouting mission to report the bad news that Berelan had been abducted by a Drow nobleman, Lord Ravenshelm, and was en route to Nocturnus with an armed guard of Drow and Order of the Dragon soldiers. She had been unable to act on her own, but she was determined to somehow save him. Through messenger birds, she established contact with the Nocturnian Resistance against the Black Spire and its leaders, and pledged her support for the cause. Then the training began. The issue was, Stormhold was a small county of Mitgardia with a fighting force of less than sixty soldiers. When Crynis began recruiting for her army, almost two hundred and fifty hopefuls enlisted, but unfortunately most of them were peasants with little to no fighting skills whatsoever. Help came unexpectedly. A band of northeners arrived in the county one day, having been driven south by the Algus menace. They numbered about forty-five, but were fierce fighters, trained to survive the harshest conditions and willing to act as mercenaries for the small army that was gradually forming. To begin with, each hopeful was assigned to a brief one-on-one sparring session with one of the mercenaries or militiamen, using stout wooden staves as weapons. Crynis herself personally observed each bout to assess whether or not the man had any potential whatsoever. She was currently watching a young peasant, Bjorn by name, face off against a seasoned mercenary, Wilhelm. Bjorn showed some promise, but stood no chance against the experienced soldier. Still, this was only the beginning. And great things can come of small beginnings. [ Sorry for the lengthy backstory. C & C welcome ]

OoC: Another warning for this post. Before you start, you need to know that there is a ton of writing! I've been building up to this part of my story since I first started on the journey. You can read one of my first GoH builds here, which will help you understand the story in this one. If you don't read the story and just look at the pictures, I totally understand! But, if you want to know what's happening in the Wyndor timeline, you will want to sit down and read it eventually. See the previous tales: Wyndor's Saga: Chapter 1 -What Has Past- Chapter 2 Part 10: A New Home Part 10.1:Blunted Edges Part 10.2: Cramped Spaces Part 10.3: Enthusiastic Worker Part 11.0 Part 11: Mysterious Death Part 12: Dark Meetings Part 13: Warm Yourself Part 14.1: Sisterly Visit Part 14.2: Proud Farmer Part 14.3: Mitgardian Household Part 15: Another Mysterious Death Part 16.1: The Council Meeting Part 16.2: Meeting with Wyndor (made by Glorfindel) Part 16.3: Feud in Teridyan Part 16.4: Great Elk Longhouse (made by Glorfindel) Part 16.5: Traveling Partners Part 16.6: Mitgardian Throne Room (made by Glorfindel) Part 17: The Cemetery Part 18: Home Part 19: Crowded Market Mayhem Part 20: Shooting Straight Part 21: Returning Part 22: Keeping Out or Keeping In Part 23: Talk in the Tavern Part 24: Mitgardian Long Sheep Part 25: Captive in the Barn Part 26a: At Ease Wyndor, the two men from the town, and the Blue Wolf had been riding in silence for about half an hour now. The Blue Wolf renegade had urged them to push the horses faster than Wyndor thought was wise, but there had been such a sense of urgency in his voice that Wyndor didn’t argue with him. As they had started their journey Wyndor asked the renegade where they were going and was meet only with, “You’ll know when we get there.” Wyndor figured the silence had gone on long enough when he spoke up and asked, “So what’s your name?” The Blue Wolf glanced over at him and hesitated for a moment before answering, “Miles.” “Tell me Miles,” Wyndor said, “Why have you been killing the dwarves of Dalig Ulv?” Miles laughed out loud at that. “We haven’t been killing them! You’ll get your answers soon enough, we’re here.” Out of the fog they had been riding in a tower loomed up ahead. Wyndor figured they must be near the Orcish Marshes. This tower must have been a guard tower against the somewhat savage inhabitants of the marshes. It wasn’t on any of Wyndor’s maps though, so he knew it must be old indeed. They left the horses at the bottom of the hill and climbed the path to the door. There were plenty of armed men around the tower and the two town guards from Dalig Ulv seemed a little nervous to be so outnumbered. They approached the door and Miles said, “Your men will need to stay here. They can keep their weapons.” Wyndor knew he didn’t need to add, “not that it will do them any good.” Wyndor nodded at the men and followed Miles inside. They walked to another door and Miles motioned to it and said, “Our leader is inside. He has your answers.” Wyndor stepped into the room and found himself looking at the back of someone’s head. It struck him as oddly familiar. “Please, close the door Wyndor” stated the stranger. Wyndor obeyed and asked, “I do not mean to be rude, but what is this all about?” The stranger ignored the question and asked instead, “Do you know what happens to Ice Dragons when they die of old age?” Wyndor was puzzled so he just listened. “They say no one can say for sure” continued the stranger, “because all the dead Ice Dragons Mitgardians have seen have been slain ones. One theory is that they all fly further than the Frozen Beyond and become monuments of living ice, moving slower than the icebergs across the snow dunes. Others say they melt into the ocean and some claim they don’t die at all but become men who wander the northern reaches of the Frozen Beyond warning stray travelers to go no further.” The man paused for a moment as if remembering and then continued, “What actually happens is that they fly north and then die like any other animal. How do I know this? Because I’ve been there. To the Ice Dragon’s dying grounds.” At this point the man pulled off his glove and flexed his fingers. Wyndor noticed their odd color and started to ask about it when the stranger continued his monologue. “I traveled with an Ice Dragon there. Not by choice. I was holding on for dear life. It was doing all it could to stay alive with my spear stuck in its belly. We crashed in a field full of dying dragons before the one I was with gave up the ghost. I grabbed my spear from his carcass and ran as fast as I could. I was 13 at the time.” Wyndor was suddenly realizing why this man seemed so familiar. He sputtered, “No… it can’t be… you can’t be…!” The stranger turned around, “Yes, Wyndor, I am your brother, Tagaler.” Wyndor rushed to his brother and embraced him. “How can this be?” Tagaler awkwardly returned his brother’s hug before letting him go and continuing with his tale. “When the elemental monster attacked us I was thrown in the same direction as the dragon. I grabbed the dragon’s toe with my hand and was frozen fast to it. I was tossed like a rag doll as the dragon hurtled through the sky and then as he regained the use of his wings and then glided even further north. We passed over a large portion of the Frozen Beyond, where no one has gone before, before we crashed. It wasn’t until he died that my hand was released. My spear must have been caught by the wind of the elemental monster and thrown in just the right way to pierce his hide. I ran from that place with a frost burned hand, and no clue as to where I could go. I walked for what seemed like days before I finally collapsed in the snow, assuming my end was near. My arm had turned black and I knew the frost had already taken it from me and would soon take the rest of me." "I closed my eyes. I don’t know how long I was out. The next thing I knew, I was being dragged up out of the snow by someone layered in furs. I don’t know who he was or where he came from, but he had ice blue hands that grabbed my dead hand and rubbed it. Whatever manner of man he was, he was not normal. There was something other-worldly about him. After he was done rubbing, my arm was no longer black, but the same shade of blue you see now.” Tagaler rolled up the sleeve of his tunic revealing an icy looking arm. Wyndor gasped, “I have never seen anything like that before! Does it hurt?” Tagaler shrugged. “The only thing I feel in this arm is intense heat. My arm is immune to cold it would seem, as I haven’t been able to feel its effects on this arm since that fateful day.” “What happened next?” Wyndor asked. “The man handed me a pack of food and pointed” Tagaler responded. “I walked in the direction he pointed until I came to the rift between the Frozen Beyond and Mitgardia where some clansmen were fishing in the icy waters. They took me in and gave me a home. It took a few months for me to finally recover. After that, I didn’t know if the rest of you had survived and I couldn’t bear the thought of returning to father to give him the news that the rest of his sons had died, so I stayed.” “Wow,” responded Wyndor, “that’s almost too much for me to take in. I can’t believe you’re alive Tagaler!” “It’s Mattimeo now” he answered. “I took a new name since my right of passage was completed. I haven’t been Tagaler for over 6 years.” “So, you’re the leader of all these men” said Wyndor, “but how is that since you’re less than a score old?” “With this arm” Mattimeo said as he held out his blue arm, “I have more strength than most men do with both their arms. I don’t understand what has happened to me, but I’ve used it to my advantage ever since. I’ve learned much since I’ve been on my own. You’re not the only one who’s traveled to the other guilds. I spent some time in Kaliphlin training with the Yakuzoka, a league of trained assassins. I also spent time in the capitol, reading histories of the guilds and learning much. These men follow me because I’ve proven to them that I can hold my own and because they believe in my vision.” “So you started the Blue Wolves? I guess I know why you chose that name now” Wyndor said as he pointed at Mattimeo’s arm. “Yes, between my arm and my upbringing in the Wolf Clan, it seemed a fitting name for my group of renegades” answered Mattimeo. “But why all the killing?” asked Wyndor. “Death has never been our goal” said Mattimeo. “And I’m afraid you’re mistaken on many accounts of our involvement with the happenings in your city.” Just then a man burst into the room. “Sir!” he shouted “We just received word from Bëo. They are being attacked from the north!” “But, they are the most northern…” Mattimeo paused for a moment. “No! That means, something from the Frozen Beyond is attacking them!” He turned to Wyndor. “I need you to come with me. I never thought what I encountered in the Frozen Beyond would ever be seen south of the rift. I may need your help.” “But what about what you’re doing to the dwarves of my city!” replied Wyndor. “Time enough for explanations later” said Mattimeo. “You will have to trust me that Dalig Ulv in not in danger from my men.” “So it is in danger then?” replied Wyndor. “Yes, and it is a danger that could threaten the entire western half of the guild” answered Mattimeo. “But Bëo would not be asking for my help unless it was dire. And if even half of my fears are true, then we are facing what could be the end of Historica!” “When do we leave?” was Wyndor’s answer. OoC: Have you ever tried to make 2 minifigures hug each other? It's very hard! Here's a couple more pictures...

After the encounter with the Algus at the summer smithy, Frode and Stian ride speedily to warn Falkidalr of the approaching threat. Along the way, they pass two farmers with their pigs and alert them as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thanks for viewing! C&C are much appreciated. This build’s inspiring elements were the two techniques for trees, both for trunks and for foliage placement. They proved to be somewhat challenging, but I was pleased with the results. I will definitely be modifying or abandoning the slope-brick branches, as they are too jagged on the top, but I was quite satisfied with the SNOT plate branch. The deciduous and evergreen trees both are a satisfactory result for me, but they are too parts-intensive to replicate for an entire forest… -Slegengr P.S. Per numerous requests, I am adding a basic tutorial for the olive green small pine trees. The images show the individual components. The basic elements are the olive green foliage pieces and the black bar/clip combination piece in various arrangements. The base is the octagonal bar around the 2x2 studs. Bar clips are attached by the clip and the foliage pieces are slipped over the bar end. To alter the diameter, I simply replaced the octagonal bar with a chain of bar clips, using two rings with 6 bar clips each and three rings with 4 bar clips. By clipping a bar clip to the bar of each bar clip after making the bar clip chain (sorry if this is confusing), a bar end is left sticking out for the attachment of the foliage pieces. The top is completed by sliding a 1x1 black cone (stud down) to secure the rings and a bar clip with foliage piece onto the top of the lance to fill out the top. Due to the clip connection, the size of chain is unlimited and the angles for the foliage are unlimited (or nearly so). The foliage pieces can be rotated on the bar connection to add to the randomness of the organic shape. This technique and variants thereof are likely to show up in my future MOCs. Pictures to clarify explanation:

So I finally made an AoM entry :P (I have around 10 builds in LDD though, yet I only want to submit real ones :P) Neymara and her brother Marik love brewing beer. One day, some friends told them to sell it on the road, as they thought it was very good. They set up a stand along a mayor road, over which many Mitgardian patrol units passed. And who is a better customer than a thirsty warrior? They sell so much these days, that Marik is continuously getting more with his ox, Byrt. I wanted to try multiple things in this build, it is basically the first time I made trans-clear water, I made everything tiled off, including the rocks that are far more detailed than I'm used to, also the construction of the stand, the autumn tree, and the road. I wondered if anyone has ever built a road this way, I pretty much like it myself! (these are 92 1x2 slopes). The tree was hell, I can't touch it: most of the leaves are not connected to anything. Also I think the dragon knights of Kingdoms are the perfect Midgardian soldiers: two shades of green on the torso, and two shades of yellow on the shield. I am happy with this build for it is by far my best detailed build ever, yet I can improve so much more. So please critizise and say what you would have done different (the light bley 1x1 tiles are a mistake on bricklink, should have been dark XD)

With all the villagers trained in basic sparring, Crynis moved on to the next step: training with real weapons. Each man or woman chose their preferred weapon from a pile amassed by the mercenaries Crynis had hired. Ragnor, the mercenaries' leader, personally oversaw each mock duel and gave the villagers important tips which would most probably one day save their lives. Now Crynis and Ragnor looked on as two such villagers began their first trial by combat. Truff the woodcutter, armed with a shortsword, and the fisherman Larne, wielding the spear he used to ply his trade. The two combatants circled each other, looking for weaknesses in the other's defense... Suddenly, Truff lunged without warning, striking at Larne's unprotected side with his sword. But the fisherman, instead of blocking the blow, leaned backwards, evading the woodcutter's strike. Truff, off balance, lost his footing and stumbled just as Larne brought the spear down on his back. He crumpled to the ground, defeated. As the victor helped his opponent to his feet, Ragnor approached the pair. Nodding gruffly to Larne, he addressed the woodcutter: "You're strong, and fast too, but you shouldn't rush into attacks. Be wary of your opponent's moves. And Larne, your trick worked this time, but you'll need to perfect it for it to work in real combat. Well done, both of you." Crynis watched, feeling a sense of pride. Her fervent dream was slowly but surely becoming a reality... Figless: C&C welcome!

Wymond took aim at the target. His winter was not as quiet as he had hoped. For while all of the painters who had disturbed him over the summer had returned home to Avalonia, the painter who had started Wymond's troubles had returned. His paintings of a Mitgardian warrior weren't selling as well in Avalonia because of all the paintings his fellow painters had done of the same subject. So he had journeyed far from his warm home to try and paint Wymond in situations that none of the other painters could rival. The arrow struck the target, causing some more snow to fall off the tree. He was glad the painter had tired of asking him to shoot icicles off the tree. "I've been thinking," the painter said. "I can take you down to the village as soon as I've gathered my arrows," Wymond said. "You must be cold." "That's very kind of you to stop your practice for my sake, but this hood has been doing wonders for me." The painter cinched up the hood tighter around his face. "I've realized what you need to do to get me a unique painting--start an archery school." Wymond was speechless for a few moments. For once he liked the sound of the painter's suggestion. All he had to do was train some people from the nearby village for a little while and then he would be free of the painter. What could possibly go wrong? Wymond takes aim while the painter waits to be struck by inspiration. How I got the snowbank to curve. The snowbank, I feel, could use some work, so I would appreciate suggestions for future snowbank building. It was a pain to get the "arrow" to stick in the target, especially since the tree well was hard to fish it out of when it fell in. This is probably my favorite of the shots I took. This used up almost all of my white bricks and tiles! So it'll have to be deconstructed before I can build anything else involving snow, but I'll hold off on that for a few days unless anyone wants me to take any more pictures. I'm quite pleased with how most of this turned out, especially since it was my first major use of SNOT. To the Avalonians viewing this: I invite you to suggest names for this elven Avalonian painter who has made life interesting for Wymond. I will choose the one I like most. ^^ I'd also like to claim the following University of Petraea credits: Landscape Design: Trees (first of three techniques) Landscape Design: Snow and ice
