LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
So the statue-- yeah, that's perfect. I'm not sure they could improve on that fig in any way. The alien... well, it's a great head sculpt, and that's about it. I'm guessing it's a prototype test torso, and an unsuccessful one at that. How could they make the gray better?? If you ask me, I'd go with the short (aka kid) legs in dark gray, and keep the printing relatively simple-- perhaps just some thin horizontal lines to look like ribbing or something to that effect. As for the torso, same gray color with a minimal print-- maybe a strange new icon in the center chest to symbolize this new race? Either that or some symbol technological graphics, like a tube running from the head area to below one arm, or perhaps a few random nodes attached across the body. Anything but whatever that current torso is supposed to be. -
I never saw this theme coming, really... it absolutely snuck up on me and I'm now looking forward to another wave in 2012. Personally, I'd like to see an Alien Wreckage site, perhaps a UFO half-built into the desert or some poor farmer's land. Various debris could be scattered across the baseplate, and a compact ADU van could be on the scene to process the 'wounded' aliens. I could definitely see an ADU truck and trailer set, because everyone from the police to the nail salon seems to have its own expandable trailer in the Lego world these days. Could be interesting, perhaps a dedicated 'radar' concept for the trailer to keep track of the aliens.

Outstanding... love the engine and back details!!

Well yeah, BOGO is the plan! I guess the real question at this point would be: Jet Copter AND the King's Carriage for $60.00 USD, Jet Copter and UFO Abduction for $55.00 USD, or King's Carriage and UFO Abduction for $55.00 USD. Been struggling with this all day... and will be leaving shortly to make the purchase and STILL haven't decided!!

Alright, here's a question for the community: Straight up, 7188 King's Carriage Ambush or 7067 Jet-Copter Encounter??

They certainly look legit. The Statue of Liberty is amazing... Love the gray's head as well, but the torso, not so much. -

Told you... it won't be long until the race is on... AGAIN! -
I'm SO torn between all of these sets. I want to finish this year's castle line, but the UFO and the London Escape tempt me as well. Thanks for your take!
-
Something just doesn't add up... A brand new set-- licensed, no less, a video game (antiquated or not), AND a t-shirt for only $50??? If you ordered all of those things direct, at least if you could, do you really think you could EVER convince TLG to sell it to you for $50?

Review: 7188 King's Carriage Ambush
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Lego Otaku's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Can anyone explain to me why I suddenly find myself so drawn to this set????? I don't know what it is, other than the fact that I like the idea of Robin Hood and his merry forestmen swooping down out of the trees and stopping this thing on the trail. But why am I more interested in this than, well, even the Mill??? WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME???? -

Haha, I remember you going crazy with baseball players for an agonizing week or so before we got our hands on them. I think you had your entire team before the rest of us had any!! -

I'm going out on a limb and guessing that a week from today these will be out in the wild. The question is WHERE!!!??? -
Okay, looking to exploit the BOGO50 at TRU, and have some decisions to make. I'm looking to spend about $85USD, and can go these routes depending on my want list: I can do the 7189 Village Mill Raid and get the 7052 UFO Abduction for 50%. Abduction is almost a must for this round of buying. I can get the 7188 King's Carriage Ambush and get the 7052 UFO Abduction for 50%, and still have enough to get the POTC 4192 Fountain of Youth and the 7051 Alien Tripod Invader for 50% with just a few more dollars. That's quite a lot of sets and 12 figs total-- but I am going over my own limit. I can get the 4193 POTC London Escape and the 7052 UFO Abduction for 50%, and actually leave $15 in my wallet. Or I could grab the King's Carriage as the 50% set for just $5 more, but then I don't get the UFO. Either way it saves some money for the coming wave of Series 5. Decisions, decisions... any thoughts?

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Regarding price: $24.99 is ridiculous and wishful thinking. With the new size scale of the TIE plus all those exclusive figs, PLUS with the added license inflation factor, this is easily a $40-50 set. Which is too much. And that's a shame, because it's a pretty sweet design, and the figs are amazing. I'm just sick of paying too much money for rehashes of sets I already have, all in the name of a new figure design. If I can get this on sale near the end of its shelf life, then I'll certainly jump on it. But I will NOT pay full price for that-- there's too many amazing sets already being hinted about, none the least of which involve the new superhero theme. I wouldn't be surprised to see Lego Star Wars take a huge hit this year, and it's gonna be a classic case of Lego competing against itself. -
LEGO Superheroes 2012 Rumours & Discussion
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Licensed
I was laying in bed last night, totally thinking about real life adult-type stuff-- home repair, stuff like that-- when all of a sudden it hit me: Colossus. In Lego form. This will likely happen in the next three years. Nightcrawler, too?? -
LEGO Superheroes 2012 Rumours & Discussion
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Licensed
Wow, saw these last night but not this close. TLG usually does such a great job of holding back until things are just right-- but in this case it's only half right. The DC figs look perfect-- the printing on Wonder Woman is astounding-- but the Marvel figs look like crap. I woke up half expecting to read that 'meat1980' or whoever posted those last night was actually duping us with MOC figures. The Marvel stuff feels like it's still deep in pre-production, and there was enormous pressure to get something, ANYTHING, onto Comic-Con's shelves. Personally I'd have preferred a little sign that says 'Marvel Coming Soon' than to see those. Captain America looks like it was made with ink jet label stickers and thrown in a kids backpack for a week or two, The Hulk seems more like a preliminary sculpt, Wolverine's face print looks like it was done with a Sharpie (and not even a fine pointed one at that), and Iron Man's head-- well, it just looks extremely amateurish. Thor's probably the closest to the mark, although he desperately needs a new hair sculpt, obviously, AND I pray they do a traditional costume variation at some point as well. Now, do I fully expect to see a complete turnaround on these? Of course-- I think by the time these sets are in stores the Marvel figs will be fantastic, and the molds will meet or exceed the standards of quality and aesthetic value we come to expect from TLG. But to rush these into Comic-Con was, in my estimation, a big mistake. -
By my count I see 21 NO, MAKE THAT 26 minifigs initially mentioned by name on both sides of the fence... According to this press release on the Marvel side: And according to the Variety story dropped earlier today regarding the DC characters: UPDATE!... The Superhero Hype story breaking the Marvel stuff names additional DC characters, taking us all the way to 26 figures!!!! So, according to our sources, we have... Batman Superman Green Lantern Wonder Woman The Joker Harley Quinn Bane Lex Luthor Bruce Wayne Robin Two Face The Riddler Poison Ivy Iron Man The Hulk Captain America Thor Hawkeye Loki Black Widow Wolverine Magneto Nick Fury Deadpool Spider-Man Doctor Octopus This is obviously RIDICULOUS NEWS, the biggest license TLG has scored since Star Wars. It may even dwarf Star Wars within the first few years, especially now that we've confirmed deals with both DC and Marvel. Somebody said earlier today that it was very telling that it just said "LEGO SUPERHEROES," and that certainly proved to be the tipoff. I thought about the 70s when the Mego figures were all the rage, and they produced both DC and Marvel without any regard of exclusivity. In the end everyone will end up being a winner here... Well done, TLG!
-
This is HUGE NEWS!!!! This line could go on for years now that it's 'DC Universe' and not just Batman! Personally, I'd kill for a Green Arrow fig!!
-
I couldn't have said it better myself. Amen, my friend.

A few ideas: I'd love to see a northern California-esque gold panning operation set. Three hermit-like cowboys holding Marian Ravenwood's black pan up in the hill with aqueducts running out of a stream through the hills and trees, with a horse or two tied to a nice little shanty off to the side. But wait, is that a bandit we see sneaking in to steal their gold???? A small, almost impulse set featuring a pony express rider, racing through a gulch or desert scene and/or possibly being chased by banditos!! Will he make it to town with all of the letters?? Only you can decide!! One other idea-- if they ever relaunched the Wild West theme, I'd love to see them do a 'money bag' piece that clipped right into the fig's hand, and gave the impression that they were holding a very heavy bag of money! Certainly would become a vital play-piece for any set, right?

Good luck picking that one up on the secondary market. You might want to set your sights on something cheaper, like the Death Star!!

If I had to guess... I'd say we see S5 the last week of July. The only question is, where? North America or Europe? -
No, not by a long shot... the female caroler in the Toy Shop set has white hands, and all of the kids in the same set have gray or white hands. In the Bakery, the photo boy has white hands, and the tree vendor has gray.

Interesting topic, and it's always fun to speculate about what's coming next. To elaborate on Klaus-Dieter's original post, I'll offer my thoughts-- and please remember this is pure speculation and wish list-kinda stuff on my part: City From what I've read, we have confirmation of a return to both the Construction and Rescue themes. Personally, I've been pretty heavy on the construction stuff and don't really feel like I'll need much, but I never did get the Cement Mixer and would really go for one of those. Beyond that, I just have a hunch we're going to see a radically new designed Back Hoe/Dozer combination unit. I'd bet we'll see another job site as well, which might be exciting-- the last one surely was. As for the Rescue stuff, bring it on! Just like I dove for the first time into the Harbour theme this year, I have no past history of Rescue and certainly anticipate Hospital, Ambulance, Rescue Copter sets. I'd also love to see a Rescue Minifig Pack of doctors, surgeons, nurses and patients. I'm sure we'll see some other sets, but I'll just wait to speculate one those. Like Lightning Tiger has hinted in the past, the idea of the never-chosen Truck Stop Fan's Choice set still making its way as a TRU exclusive or something is a very realistic possibility. Creator The Creator houses have become an annual staple at this point, and I'm sure we'll see at least one more next year. I'd love to see them tackle an Apartment Building, but that would probably be quite pricey. Pirates of the Caribbean I'm assuming we're going to see a continuation of PotC. The movie was big and there's already confirmation of a 5th in development. It'll be interesting to see if TLG can continue output of the line up until the next movie's release. I guess there's a lot of sets that can be mined from the second and third movies-- and the fact that they've already been envisioned in the video game is a big plus. Personally I think the very first level, at Port Royal, is just beautiful and probably would be a great playset. NinjaGo With a TV show on the way, this thing will continue to be marketed hard at the pre-teen boy set. I'm guessing we'll see much more dragons, and perhaps more buildings as well. Not my thing, but I have nothing against it, either. Pharaoh's Quest There's been much speculation about this line either drying up or moving to another location a la 'Adventurers.' Quite frankly, I have a gut feeling that TLG probably had designs for more Egyptian sets and adventures, but the sets just don't seem to be selling that well. If they'd have moved a lot more pyramids, I think we'd continue to see more PQ sets-- but I don't have sales figures or marketing intel. Who knows? Star Wars OT took a back seat in 2011 to the Clone Wars and revisits of PT sets. We hear lots of rumblings about possibilities, like Jabba's Palace revisited, and quite frankly I don't know quite what to think. They could launch an entire Jabba sub-theme just featuring the sets and characters from the sequence in ROTJ, and there's plenty of new figures to be mined, which is becoming a real factor in these sets. Personally, I'd love a Weequay or Ree-Yees minifig, and until ACPin goes into business mass-producing his own creations, we have yet to see a Rancor. Finally, Sand People with Bantha. WE NEED THIS, LEGO... I'm not a Clone Wars guy, but I'm certain we'll see plenty of these sets continue as well. I think it's great that a new generation has their own connection with Star Wars, and I'm not at all jaded to see a focus on these at all. NEW THEME? There's been a lot of rumblings about a return to the Western theme, and a few minifigs to imply curiosity from their end. I'd REALLY REALLY love to see Ancient Greece done by Lego, and now with the column pieces from Atlantis, we can do this! THIS... IS... LEGO!!! Minifigs Yeah. These aren't going away. I'm not going to speculate on what figs, but it's a done deal we're getting more. Money talks. Kingdoms Love the dedication to the peasants and civilian side this year. I don't expect it to continue, of course... Lion Knights took a huge back seat this year, and I expect to see them return in a big way next year. As for sets, I'd love to see a return of the archetypical Lego Knights Joust type of set, perhaps a Dragon Knights Siege Tower, and maybe a Lion Knights Warship. Personally, I'm still holding out hope for a return of the Forestmen, but only time will tell... Alien Conquest I've read a fair amount of talk saying that Alien Conquest might be a one and done, or that there's no room to grow. I just don't see it; we've see the UFO's and other craft, but there's certainly more things we could see from the Alien Race themselves, like perhaps a Space Station or a Landing Craft. And, almost like the Dragon Knights in 2010, the ADU seemed to not get all that much attention in this year's sets. I'd bet on seeing an ADU Headquarters set and some other support sets, like an ADU Ground Crew or even an ADU Attack Shuttle. Finally, and it's probably way too peculiar, but I'd love to see an Alien Crash Site set... A half-destroyed UFO in the middle of a quiet farm, complete with the alien pilot, his clinger, and a family of farmers to terrorize. Yes? No? Town/Modular I'm not a Modular collector, but not for a lack of wanting them. I've just chosen it's beyond my budget. But we'll see another one, and I'm sure TLG already knows exactly what type of building it will be. Given their flair for hinting the next in each one, I'm going to make my bold prediction now-- in honor of the painter outside the Pet Shop, TLG will release... A HARDWARE STORE. As for the Winter sub-theme of Town, I'm absolutely in love with it, and I'm guessing this year's Post Office will be one of the single highest selling sets of the year. Next year I'd like to see either the 'North Pole' playset or a Family Chateau, complete with room for a newly designed Santa & team to land on top and drop down through the chimney. I know there's plenty more to speculate on, from Harry Potter to the Girls Line, but I'm just not informed enough to make educated presumptions about any of these lines, so I'll end it there. And wow, that certainly seems to be enough!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Would LOVE to see a Greek figure, toga and laurel wreath, etc... but I'm holding out hope that the lack of a fig might (possibly) be indicative of a full line that will roll out in the next year or two...? Yeah, I know I'm dreaming.
