  1. Hey guys.. have a question about TRU's upcoming "Bricktober" promotion, AND it's specifically about the Forestmen fig. Not sure where to post it...? BUY/SELL? LEGO EVENTS? Thanks
  2. I was originally so caught up in writing the original thread post I later realized I missed Green Arrow. Yes, of course our boy Oliver-- I'd go absolutely mad for a true Green Arrow minifig. Glad to see I'm not the only one!
  3. Sorry-- title was too long. It said: WHAT DC OR MARVEL HERO (OR VILLAIN) DO YOU MOST WANT TO SEE MADE INTO LEGO FORM? So it's probably a bit premature to start this topic, but it seems like conversation has already gone this route on the ComicCon thread and if there's anything that the Superheroes theme has given us, it's the audacity to dream!! We've seen the prototypes, and we have a concrete list of what to expect in the first wave of the Superhero line. So with that being said, throw away what we know about what factions of each comic universe have been announced and let's play "What If?" What DC or Marvel Hero would you most like Lego to produce in minifig form in the Superheroes theme? Obviously we've seen the list of what figs will arrive in 2012, but who's on your wish list for the theme overall?? Personally, I've already voiced my desire for a Colossus minifig, in chrome or otherwise! I'd also love to see a Nightcrawler, Hawkman (angel wing piece?!), and although I'm not even a fan of the comic I'd love to see a Moon Knight fig. How about the rest of you???
  4. Outstanding-- love the eye for detail, and the accuracy. We know we'll never get these from TLG itself, but love the level of modeling accuracy you've been able to achieve here. Top shelf stuff!
  5. AWESOME! AQUASHARKS!! I would like nothing more than to bear their sigil proudly! THanks Peppermint!
  6. Good look at the Celebration Han... Hard not to go for this one after picking up the Luke. Thanks for the pic!
  7. Lego's quality control is usually SO strong-- hard to imagine that this happened, let alone how or why!! They look nice enough from the front, but that head assembly issue is unacceptable. I've had my fishing boat since July, so it had the old vests... but I had a jet ski polybag in my hand yesterday (didn't get it), and I neglected to it to see which ones were in there.
  8. I remember when this thread was about speculation and/or confirmation about Lego possibly doing a LOTR license. It's devolved into one man's personal crusade to dream up his own ambitious if not grandiose vision of a Lord of the Rings theme, and an almost defiant refusal to let anyone disagree with him. I'm all for imagining the possibilities of future Lego releases, but perhaps said person might consider creating his own thread where he can share his thoughts to his heart's content. Personally, I'm more for hearing the thoughts of Cwetqo and Aanchir about whether or not this thing is gonna happen!
  9. Man............. DEER!!! What a missed opportunity... I'd kill for a couple of Lego deer, and they'd probably end up in the Winter collection (Santa!). Also could've been a wonderful place to add a RACCOON to the Lego zoology.
  10. Who the heck would want a Captain Barbossa megafig clock??? The rest of them are pretty cool, but not even Geoffrey Rush would want that thing!
  11. You just want to outfit your Redcoats in skinny black jeans and a studded belt, don't you?
  12. LOVE the idea of a Creator Castle set-- big enough to build a castle comparable to the typical $99 set, but without all the playability built right in. I would prefer to see it include the portcullis. If they wanted to make it great, they could include some generic slopes or something of various colors, most likely red or green to customize Lion or Dragon. And if they wanted to make it truly EPIC, they could include a base flag shape (say black) and include a sticker sheet to customize as Lion, Dragon or (never gonna happen) even past factions. That'd be amazing-- could you imagine including Black Falcon or even Crownie stickers in a new set???? No, me neither... The previous post also brings up a curious topic for me-- what about the Dragon King? And or his queen? Typically we've seen the Royal Family only applied to the unequivocably 'good' factions of the past and present, while dedicated 'evil' factions usually got a ruler and his witch, or were ruled by some crazy evil wizard type. So, then, are the Dragon Knights truly evil? Or are they just another faction who happens to know they look good in black, and also appreciate the aesthetics of a well-drawn dragon? Personally I'd love to see a Dragon King happen before they kill off the theme, a truly unique character that could join the pantheon of classic Lego characters...
  13. I have a very strained sense of loyalty with Star Wars. My heart's just not in it, but the collection is pretty massive and I still feel a certain responsibility in picking up sets with new figs. Take, for example, the new Echo Base set. It's ridiculously overpriced, I'm not all that impressed with it, and that money would be SO well dedicated to another set of its size-- but I've wanted that 21-B medical droid for so long, I find myself very seriously debating whether or not to make the purchase. At some point I've got to cut all ties to the line, especially with all the remake sets that continue to arise, but yet it feels wrong to not go after all these great new figs. Dilemna!
  14. Exciting stuff-- I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Lego gets this stuff on the shelves before Christmas!! Gold mine waiting to happen!!!!
  15. Dude, I don't mean to be a grouch, but how on earth would anyone vote for me with a broken link?? Is there anything I can do to help?
  16. Was thinking about this set today... Are we ever gonna see it stateside?? Certainly thought it'd be gathering dust on the shelves by now. Christmas, perhaps?
  17. My thoughts on the pricing: Eh, I guess that's what we anticipated. $20 seems a bit high for that little Chibi fire truck. The plane is interesting, but not worth $60-- that's also got Costco holiday promotion written all over it, so maybe we can get it cheaper. This is perfect. TLG is clearly throwing us a bone, and trying to reel back in the City enthusiasts that aren't into the huge playsets. Great little sets at affordable prices, and personally I'm very appreciative of the effort. This is where you lose me, TLG... Every one of these sets seems about 20% too high! I can't believe that 4436 isn't $9.99, and $35.00 for the Dog Van, a little sports car and the mine facade??? WHAT?? Are there licensed Star Wars figs about to fall out of the windows of these cars?? Disappointing...
  18. I think someone discussed this before-- if you look closely, the ambulance clearly reads "CITY" while the SUV in the police station features the old retro "Lego" mark. Cool little shout-outs to the culture of Lego.
  19. Forget all of the arguments and proposals for sets, forget all the convincing... I just don't think LOTR is a good business decision for Lego in 2012. In terms of marketing, it's gonna be the year of the Superheroes, make no mistake, and beyond both the DC license and the monstrous Avengers push in the summer, there's still Star Wars & Ninjago (both of which will have a TV show to promote itself), Dino2012, and all of the core Lego themes to contend with. TLG would require a significant extension of their marketing budget to push a Hobbit theme to the extent of these others, and even then we're looking at a clear case of Lego competing with themselves. By Christmas of 2012 Lego will still be trying to convince mothers and casual buyers to spend money on the sets released in the summer-- that's a horrible time to launch a corresponding Hobbit theme. Promoting LOTR would only discourage buyers from grabbing sets already in high rotation. It doesn't take a genius to realize you don't sell new products when it leaves your existing products stranded on the shelves. Lego will sell whatever's on the shelves at Christmas, so why would they spend all this extra money to push a new line? I'm not arguing with any of you-- loved the books, and certainly loved the Hobbit more than LOTR-- but now's just not the right time, in terms of good business.
  20. So the garbage truck is NOT the recycle truck, and yet neither are part of a specific theme??? Or are we getting new torsos that just haven't been revealed yet? #prettyplease?
  21. I must say... the highlander's really growing on me. That's a heckuva torso print, and I can really imagine how a little cluster of those guys would look with different weapons and different long-haired headpieces. Plus multiples would mean that that sword can find its way into some other factions. Personally I'm sure I'm the exception to the rule, but I'm not all that hyped about the Roman. Maybe get three or four, and the same can probably be said about the gray. But for me the Scotsman is the most likely to become an army builder.
  22. Sure that's legit? Torso doesn't look quite Lego, and there's something creepy about that face... I know Firestar deals with alot of third party vendors as well, and maybe that's from somebody else?
  23. "Oh no, that little tree is on fire there! We'd better put it out, Chief!" "Stand down, rookie... Let me call into the feds to sanction a waterbomber dispatch." "But sir... it's barely on fire!! There's a yellow extinguisher right there in your jeep-- we could put it out right now!" "Listen, kid, you're new around here, so I'm gonna make it real clear-- Here in Lego City, we do things BIG or we don't do them at all!! We--" "But this isn't the City. This is a rural setting that's supposed to be a fores--" "YOU KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND LISTEN! Here in the Fire Department we are dedicated to overreacting to any threats that come our way! We also have some real sweet connections in the state legislature, so the budget is maddeningly generous for the fire department. Now are you gonna let that money go to waste? Or are you gonna let those clowns down at the Police Department get the best of us when it comes to overspending and overreacting??? ARE YOU?" "NO SIR! I'll go sit down and drink from my red mug in Engine No. 5 while we wait for the water drop."
  24. Okay, so here's a question I already have answered for myself, but I'm curious to hear other responses: "How many dwarves are enough?"
  25. So who else is spending inordinate amounts of their day pouring over these pictures again and again rather than doing something constructive? It's positively addictive and irrational, but I can't stop cycling through the pics over and over again...
