  1. I agree - that's a very neat design that requires only four pieces and looks pretty realistic.

In that respect, definitely! I'm very much looking forward to that. You've got great building skills.

    House of Joy

Read my original post. I used one sentence to say that I didn't care for the subject, the rest of it is about how I really like the building and the techniques used. And for the record: I didn't take offense. I'm not personally easily offended, and I don't mind sexual references. I just pointed out that I don't think prostitution is something you should treat as a light subject, and I felt that the general tone in the original poster's original post did just that. Building a MOC that deals with prostitution (or whatever you prefer to call it) could be a very good thing, if presented properly. I didn't think this one was, although the MOC in itself is very, very nice. I'll leave it at that. But it ticks me off slightly that people so willingly read much more into a post than what it actually says (like the very mature ironic 'wah wah wah' post on top of this page). Rant over. It's a lovely building! Keep it up, next time I'll probably enjoy both the building and the subject :)
  4. You have to remember one thing, though: Even though some sets are for sale at ridiculous prices, it doesn't necessarily mean that they actually sell at those prices :) The more people that buy sets with the intention of reselling them for a huge profit, the bigger the competition in the market will be, and the prices will have to fall (or at least rise less)... that's the way the market works. And thus the prices of the sets available today probably won't ever rise as much as, say, 3450, 10181 or 10182, because the 'hoarding' was much less widespread then than it is today.

    MOC: Cola

Tempting. I'm trying to cut down a bit on this stuff, but that red and white sign reminds me of the lovely taste :) thankfully, there's nothing in my fridge...
  6. I saw it on Flickr when you posted it there a while ago, and while I feel that only including minifig heads and not entire figs is like 'cheating' a tiny little bit, there's no doubt that you've created something that's incredibly recognisable. Probably the best minifig-sized model of a real car I've ever seen. Great!
  7. This really is superb. I looked at the first two pictures, and thought that even if it didn't have an interior (which I suspected it had) it'd be a fantastic building - I can see why some may feel that it's a bit boring, but the details of the exterior are really spot-on for this kind of a structure. As for the interior... it's such a fabulous idea, and so well executed that I'm envious of your imagination. Great stuff - it looks like it would actually work.
  8. That police boat is a monster. When the cargo ships in the harbour are dwarfed by a police boat, you know something's off with the proportions... :)

I was under the distinct impression that the text had changed as well - if it hasn't I'm sorry about that. The adult picture was not what made me react, though, I thought that was quite funny in itself (especially the banana) - I'm not offended by sexual references - but in my opinion there's quite a difference between sex references and whore house references. The thing I didn't like was your humorous talk about prostitution. It's probably true that there are women who willingly choose to sell themselves, but they are hugely outnumbered by the ones who do it because they see no other way to make money. So I don't believe it should be a joking matter. But that's my opinion. And another one of my opinions is that you could choose to focus on all the nice things that people (myself included) have said about your creation, instead of getting stuck on things that people clearly disagree with you on...
  10. Here you go :)
  11. It's because you're new. You're not allowed to view members' profiles or use the PM system until you've made more than 10 posts :)
  12. And a croissant probably wouldn't have had the same effect on the waitress, which would mean a distinctly less interesting scene for a MOC. So in that respect, I completely understand your choice of table decoration.
  13. A lot of nice stuff in the Town section this Sunday - I like the tan version, but even better is the added interior. Well done!
  14. That's a very nice and clean design, with some refreshing colours. A cat on the table, though? I wouldn't eat there... :) The salt and pepper shakers are nice. Maybe they'd look even better in black and white?
  15. There's so much to like here - I think it's the best Lego garage I've seen! The brick-built sign is very nice, especially the light blue shading on the letters (shame about the R, which is the one letter that doesn't really work...). Maybe, instead of taping the back, you could add some 1x4x3 panels to the back? That way, you'll cover up the mirrored letters without making the sign two bricks deep. The building itself is lovely, even though it's simple. The different-coloured plates in between the bricks really add a realistic touch to it, and the colours work so well together - the dark green windows suit the brown walls perfectly. And I'm very impressed by that garage door, that's a neat way to do it. The interior is great, too, and very authentic with all those signs. I'd make one little modification to the oilcans: I'd remove the 1x1 plate and the 1x1 tile and replace them with one of these - they work perfectly for oil can tops. And that hot rod is superb :) What's not to like? If this is just the first of several buildings, I'll be very much looking forward to what comes next!

While I do not care for the theme of your MOC, and especially not the way you're making jokes about it, I'll ignore that for a second and focus instead on the building itself - which is probably why you posted it in the first place. There's a lot of great details on show, I particularly like the ground floor bathroom, the bar and the hot tub on the roof. And the exterior is also very nice. Edit: Like Locutis, I'd like to point out that the text in the original post has been toned down quite a bit since I wrote this reply.
  17. Only 3000? That's incredible! But how on earth did you manage that? My modular bank has got more than 3000 pieces in it, and that's got a 32x32 footprint. This is much bigger...
  18. Haha, great! Did you notice the notes? These are going to be extremely useful for a lot of things - like attaching number plates to the rear of cars that don't have room for a regular bracket. Superb!
  19. Lovely. Makes you wonder what would have happened if Lego had decided to go all the way with the Town Hall :) - it's huge! Do you have any idea how many bricks you've used?
  20. Yeah, I've noticed those. I'd really, really like that second one in an opposite version - i.e. with the side-mounted studs 'hanging' from the 1x2 plate instead of 'standing' from it. Like the bracket 1x2 - 2x2 or the bracket 1x2 - 1x4...
  21. I wish you the best of luck with that! Hopefully, she won't catch the Lego bug and join Eurobricks before that :)

    MOC: In The Park

I just commented on this on Flickr: Lovely colours, a nice scene, and a gorgeous bridge. Well done :)
  23. So, by your definition, if you buy more than one set, to keep one and maybe sell one later, you are an "asswipe" and a jerk? Although I agree with the basic principle, I think that's a pretty harsh way to put it.
  24. Very nice! The damaged wall and the garbage adds just that perfect amount of detail. I really like the idea of raising the pavement by one plate, I might nick that idea off you :)
  25. I like it, and as DrNightmare said, it's probably just about as good as it will get in six-wide - ideally, the cabin should be lower, but we're missing that 4x3x4 windscreen in six-wide... you've captured the essence of the H2 nicely. I think I'd go for dark bluish grey for the front and rear bumpers, at least if you're aiming for likeness to that Matchbox model, but maybe black is more realistic. Mirrors could be easily achieved by adding a couple of "hinge plate 1x2 locking with one finger on end" beneath the windscreen (you'd have to replace the 1x6 brick, if that's what it is).
