The backorder date is just a placeholder. My guess is the date is very far out because at the moment, S@H does not have shipping estimates for new orders. I expect they will update the ship dates when they have a better idea of when the next batch will be available. They are still taking orders, so I would not be concerned about them not fulfilling yours. I believe this is the last year for the motorized AT AT, so if you were on the fence or otherwise waiting to get one, it's probably best to act sooner rather than later.

Very nice! I don't own any of the previous iterations of Slave I, so this new version is a must own for me! I really like the improvements made to Boba and am looking forward to Bossk and the Han-in-carbonite! I think the Ambassadors are doing a great job of making me excited for these upcoming sets, thanks!

I have to agree that the wheels are small enough where it detracts from the rest of the model, but besides that, I think it's a pretty good design!

Good review! I completely missed the Lego Harry Potter sets, so it's nice to see them like this now.

Just a quick update: I contacted Lego US customer service this week and they could only confirm that the set is slated to be discontinued "later this year". They could not provide a particular time frame. Best bet for people looking to buy does indeed seem to be "the sooner, the better".

I wouldn't say I'll never open any of the sets I buy, but I do have some still sealed in boxes. The main reason is because I only recently started getting into collecting and building Lego, and I'm still trying to sort how and where I'm going to display sets, and how I should to store them. There have been some good sales recently, and I've picked up some sets that are getting phased out soon, so I've actually gotten a little ahead of myself here. It's easier for me to store by just leaving them unassembled in boxes for now. Eventually, my kids and I will assemble and play with them all. As for investing...I wouldn't bother! These are toys, plain and simple, and meant to be built and enjoyed. I admit, I've bought a few things because I was afraid of waiting until the grey market, but that was only because I didn't want to be the one being profited on! Yes, you might be able to make short term profits on popular Star Wars sets or rare/exclusive sets, but you can make a lot more money in other things which I won't get into here. Just buy what you like, take care of them, and perhaps one day if you don't want to pass them on to someone you love, you might be able to sell them to a collector who will enjoy them as much as you did.

I, too, am looking forward to the new Universal Studios attraction. Filmgirl and Lightning Tiger are right though, the new HP Lego sets aren't slated to come out until this fall.
