LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion
kevkipo replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
That's exactly what I mean, the leaks perfectly coincided with several occassions this year, Disney 100, X-Men '97, Return of the Jedi, Tears of the Kingdom etc. At least a few of them could have been expected this year. If released next year, the Deku tree set will still sell, of course, but what does it coincide with? I agree with the sentiment to at least wait until 2024 before worrying, but still, it's all a bit suspicious. -

I think the new Dr Eggman perfectly displays how you can combine existing minifigure parts with new moulds for bodies / heads etc. Sidon and the Gorons would greatly benefit from something like that. I think it can defenitely be done in an appealing way, most characters in BOTW are very humanoid in appearance. As for the Deku tree, anyone else feeling doubt about it's existence suddenly? For all the leaks that happened to coincide with it, none have actually been revealed as of yet right? Snow White, Maleficent, Simba, X-mansion... we've seen none of them so far? -
Sonic the Hedgehog - Rumours and Discussion

Man these look fun, my younger self would be very happy. A very far cry but i'd love to mod Sonic to make him look like the Black Knight version! I do hope they cover some other games, especially Adventure :0 Bit of an odd choice for the Amy set though isn't it? Wouldn't have been my first pick for a Sonic wave. -
Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I don't consider that proper confirmation before actually seeing the character. The MCU is great at safeguarding options and names, they'll have to put their money where their mouth is. I'm not against seeing Miles in MCU form, I love the character. I just very much dislike treating the MCU as some holy grail while so far Spider-Verse has showcased how great superhero movies are when animated. -

100% agreed, the over focus on the previous Spider-men is a fun novelty to me, nothing more. It pains me a lot to see Spider-verse, a movie series previously untouched by the poison that is nostalgia-baiting, is now referencing those movies too. It seems the only thing people can talk about from the new trailer is the little easter egg nod to the events of NWH. "Is the MCU connected with Spider-verse??" "Is Miles' jumping over to the MCU?", please no... keep the two seperate forever. If they'd ever do a live action Miles, make him stand out from the Spiderverse one. I'd be much more enthousiastic about a Spider-verse set than NWH, but that is just personal preference. I totally get why people are excited about getting a Toby and Andrew figure in this case, same for the villains, if only for it to serve as a 'late to date' set for those movies than an actual NWH set. -

Today I went to a local toy store and the Lego Marvel isle was just depressing... So many buildable figures and helmets / weapons, and almost no actually interesting minifigure sets. -

I like that the CMF includes so many cool and desirable figures, makes it actually worth it to pick up a few random blindboxes instead of directly bricklinking the ones you specifically want. For example, I'm definitely going for Moon Knight, Mister Knight and the Hawkeyes. But I wouldn't mind getting Werewolf, She-Hulk or the X-men either! Just a bummer that Daredevil and Jubilee aren't in this. -

It would also combine a demand for two big things, Zelda and a new Historic / kingdom / fantasy Lego theme... I mean what gives. -

The closer we get to May, the more anxious I get about the Zelda set. I'm starting to feel that it will not release this year. No leakers have said anything about it yet -

Yes but then again the Guardians movies have always been awful with designs. Star Lords jacket, Gamora's suit in the second film, Ego's whole design, Starhawk, The Nova Corps, all of the Ravagers etc etc. -

Which is very strange... There is nothing remotely compelling about captain Carter apart from a simple gimmick. The actress is fun but imo this doesn't hold the same gravitas as say Iron Man. There are a ton of characters more deserving of leading man / woman spotlight. And Marvel has a huge problem writing female heroes, which they are only recently trying to solve (a bit). But maybe 'What If' just isn't my cup of tea, with all the episodes they had, they really didn't do a lot of very interesting things, most of the times it was just very depressing. To me cool questions would have been: What if the first Avengers movie but with other characters? Or what if the teams in Infinity War switched places etc. Putting existing characters in new situations instead of this alienating 'variants' schmuck. -
Man Lego avoids Mario figures like the plague, even though they have the perfect opportunity with the Mario movie, and having both the Nintendo and Illumination license...
-
They wouldn't do a big reveal like this for one set when the rest of the summer wave has yet to be revealed as well, would they?
-
Oh man this could go two very different ways...

I don't really understand why Lego would make this piece when it's similair to the already existing moon shaped weapon piece. Also, if it is a specialized piece, why not make it more round to fit the actual on screen item? -

Well for me it mainly depends on if the sets + minifigures are actually worth it. I could even be on the fence on a movie but if the sets for the movie are great then I'd defenitely consider buying them. For example I couldn't care less about the She-Hulk show, but would I get a well designed small set or her minifigure in a potential S2? Yes. It's a well designed character and if done justice then I'd buy it. On the flipside you have awful minifigures (like Namor for example) or bad set values (the Guardians 3 sets). -
OOF I forgot about DK. Yes that could defenitely be the next digi-figure... Well count me out for another year of sets then.

Wait, they're not? Which interviews are you referring too? Also that last bit of information is golden, I didn't know that, absolute stellar move if he actually did it for that reason. -
You mean in this way or with regular minifigure dotted eyes and an erased nose?
-
Have you seen examples of how that looks? It's almost unrecognisable as the character IMO... Yes agreed. Animated / stylized choices should be done justice. The roundness of Mario's features (Nose, mustache, chin, cap, eyes) are a deliberate choice, this is integral to the character and should be left in tact. The same way the Simpsons characters have been handled. For Lego you can defenitely get away with the standard minifig body on most characters, but the heads? No way. Mario has extremely exaggerated features.

100% agreed. Continuing to pump out these crazy expensive sets is alienating a large part of TLG's customers, and I already heavily hestitated on $100 sets... With inflation, living expenses rising, exrtreme gas and electricity prices due to the war, etc. this is not a good look... Having said that, these may be my two cents but wouldn't an Avengers tower be completely boring apart from the top? Do we even know what's on the other floor levels apart from the lab / common area for the Avengers at the top? I always felt, watching the movies, that the other levels were just random offices? Also aesthetic wise, that thing is just not very pretty? IMO it would be cool if this set included little dioramas from all previous MCU entries, like one big collection of everything that has come before. A primarily beige / grey / blue building just seems a bit... dry? -
I second this, partly because it would liven up this thread, and in other part because I believe there's overlap between Mario and Zelda fans. Same as Marvel for example. I sincerely hope potential Mario minifigures don't come out looking like that, the difference in head size isn't great. I do hope as well that some characters get complete specialized molds, like Toad for example.
