  1. Octan isn't a gasbrand in real life. In the past Shell was the gasbrand in Legoland. Call me oldfashion, but I stick to Shell. Exxon is used in USA and is ideal for competition beside Shell.Offtopic, but this is a typical octan set: This is what I did with it: Also tried to make a Shell version, but hadn't the time to finish it .
  2. I'm busy to change the emerald for 12v. It's a neverending project. It goes not smootly through the points and the connecting rods are causing that the big wheels blocks. I made some more modifications. First how the design of lego is: And this what I made, to prevend that the connecting rods blocks the bog wheels: I changed the connecting rods also, otherwise it will be still wider than 8studs. Trains wider than 8 studs means collisions between other trains. Tracks lay next to eachother with 12v. I adjusted the 1/2pins of technic lego: This means the emerald train is now exactly 8studs wide: I still waiting for some parts, to finish this train. When the train is finished, I show you the pic's of mine 12v version of emerald train.
  3. It took some time, but all pic's are added now. I'm too busy with school and work .
  4. You do what ?
  5. I think it's a good moc. But be aware to use the 7740..... It's holy for me as diehard 12v AFOL ;) .
  6. My friend has his own attic and soon we start to build his layout. First we need to design a nice layout with a big bridge in it. I made this and I wonder what you think of it? Just click on pic, to look closer at the plan itself.
  7. I use the ground, because it gives you the cild idea and my roof. The lego is at my attic. Here you can see the space, without the lego :P :
  8. Very smart. I'm curious at the pic's.
  9. Saw it on brickshelf yesterday. Really amazing and a WOW-factor.
  10. I say Metroliner, but it's what you want the most.
  11. Amazing . Now try to build one in minifig scale . I wonder how big that one will be.
  12. Nice review. Funny about those double faces.
  13. MOC = My Own Creation MOD = My Own Design, I guess? Your MOD looks very good. Almost like real. You build more trains like these?
  14. This one is the best train minifig, well for the grey 12v area : Although this one is also one of my favourite:
  15. Voltage will drop when you let run more than one trains and when the train goes more away form the connecting point of the transformer. I guess, it must almost the same as the blue area. You can solve it, to connect more transformers at one track. For my layout I use 4 transformers. 1 is used to feed all remotecontrollers and 3 are used to give the trains power. 16. Name: Freight Train Set No.: 7735 Theme: LEGO / SYSTEM / Trains / 12v / Train Set Year: 1985 Pieces: 501 Minifigs: 2 Price (when it was in stores): USD 100.00$ (which equals about EUR 80€) Price nowadays (2d hand): USD 185.00$ (which equals about EUR 150€) This set looks great to begin with. A nice little diesel train with some wagons with it. It came with a circle of track and a little station too. The speedregulator had to be bought seperatly. Lets show the pic's of this goodlooking train: Click on pic to get a bigger one The right view: Click on pic to get a bigger one The left view: Click on pic to get a bigger one The colors of the diesel itself looks like be copied of set 7740. Although it looks very good. I love also those connecting rods on the wheels itself. It gives just a bit extra. Lets see the working place of the locomotive itself: Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one When you look at the 1st wagon, special for transporting 2 racemotorcycles. Click on pic to get a bigger one The 2d wagon has a small shell fuel tank and a little fuelingcar. I don't where it's for, but maybe handy when the train comes without fuel somewhere during the trip. Click on pic to get a bigger one The 3th wagon is handy for transporting all kind of small cargo, like boxes or mail. It's design is wonderfull. It's complete yellow and those doors are expensive. Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one And lets not forget the little trainstation. It's simple, but very effective. Also a little fence with tools, if repairs is needed. Click on pic to get a bigger one You can also make a 2d model of this set: In the past I needed a 12v motor and rebuild this set to 9v. In my eyes it's a perfect train for 9v. Mine has 9v lights as extra, these parts: look closely to the train itself: Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one And when you put the 12v version beside the 9v version, both look good: Click on pic to get a bigger one I made also an extra wagon with to transport atlantisset 8057. Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one Playability: 7/10 (It's missing of an included speedregulator.) Design: 8/10 (Colors are copied, but it looks very good.) Price: 6/10 (The 2d hand prices are fair enough, I guess.) Overall: 8/10 (Good design, pretty easy to get for a 2d hand set.) Also a little joke of mine: Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one Octan is forbidden in my town. Only Shell and for the 2d player in the fuelmarket, Exxon is allowed .
  17. Nice review. This was mine first long wagon, when I was a child. Only sold it a few years ago. It's a great set see again, but I'm not gonna buy this one again. I have too many wagons already .
  18. Thx. I have finished this review. Lets see if I can make one soon again. Hope you like this review too.
  19. Pic's are complete now. Nowadays it standing model for the Spiderman bridge which must still be build. Hopefully next year, the building will begin. Click on pic to get a bigger one And with a red 12v motor, the set is more worth then 250 usa dollars .
  20. This awesome. And it's very simple to build too, if you look at this.
  21. Yes, I want to write all the missing 12v sets. First the trains, then the wagons and later the stations. At least, if it's wanted offcourse .
  22. Maybe a bit too high, the 2d hand prices. But on the other hand, set is rare. More then 3 years ago. But I've lowered the 2d hand prices now a bit lower.
  23. Name: Electric Goods Train Set No.: 7730 Theme: LEGO / SYSTEM / Trains / 12v / Train Set Year: 1980 Pieces: 512 Minifigs: 2 Price (when it was in stores): USD 100.00$ (which equals about EUR 80€) Price nowadays (2d hand): USD 300.00$ (which equals about EUR 250€) Time for another great 12v train. This little good looking steam engine is a great view to see. It's design is simple, like the style of the blue 12v area. It came with a circle of track and 2 minifigs. Also a small truck for (un)loading goods. A speedregulator had to be bought seperatly to operate the train. Now lets see the set itself: Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one The right view: Click on pic to get a bigger one The left view: Click on pic to get a bigger one Lets check the working place of the driver. I've added a 12v light, that's why you see a grey wire at the legs of the driver. Click on pic to get a bigger one A closer view of the 7730 with the rare 12v motor: Click on pic to get a bigger one And offcourse how the wagons looks inside: Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one A nice close up of the little truck for (un)loading the goods of the fridgewagon: Click on pic to get a bigger one As common of the 12v grey area you could build a second model and even a 3th of this set: Now you wonder how I get on 4 of those yellow wagons. Did I build 3 extra? I didn't. The 7727 train is hard to get as set. Even harder, then the rare 7730. I bought 2x 7730 extra, to build the 2x 7727. One for me and one for mine friend. I don't know where the 4th wagon came from. I had kept the yellow wagons as remember that I bought actually 4x 7730. Some wheels are replaced by 9v ones, these have less friction and runs more smootly then the 12v wheels. You can see that in the past I used grey ones. Now they are black. Click on pic to get a bigger one A lot of 12v wheels are replaced by 9v ones. So I kept the 12v wheels somewhere stored. Click on pic to get a bigger one Playability: 6/10 (It's missing of an included speedregulator and a small station.) Design: 9/10 (The design of the train is awesome, the wagons are simpel but goodlooking.) Price: 2/10 (The 2d hand prices are far too high, only because of that red 12v motor.) Overall: 8/10 (For a diehard 12v collector a wannahave. For a 12v lover, let it be. Unless you can get it cheap.) In this state I bought mine (first) version of a dutch ebay site. I drove 200 km's to get it. What if the red 12v motor get damaged by mail...... And the red 12v motor is in a great shape. Click on pic to get a bigger one
  24. What a great review. I love the idea of a video. I have several sets placed in my town, 5 to be correct.
  25. Name: Push-Along Passenger Steam Train Set No.: 7715 Theme: LEGO / SYSTEM / Trains / 12v / Train Set Year: 1985 Pieces: 430 Minifigs: 5 Price (when it was in stores): USD 46.00$ (which equals about EUR 37€) Price nowadays (2d hand): USD 150.00$ (which equals about EUR 120€) This set replaces set 7710 in 1985. The steamengine had now doors for more comfort for the driver. It had also little shutters at the back. I guess for the not included tender. Even the passenger wagons had nice colors, which matched perfectly with set 7818. Click on pic to get a bigger one It came also with a little trainstation and a circle of 4,5v track. The train could be modified to 4,5v or 12v system, with instructions how to modify it. Perfectly set to start a collection with. This set came as 9th train in my collection and I wanted a red 12v motor for it. And I changed to front light a bit, which was needed when adding a 12v front light. Lets show some pic's of the set: Click on pic to get a bigger one The right view: Click on pic to get a bigger one And the left view: Click on pic to get a bigger one And lets not forget how the train looks inside: Click on pic to get a bigger one A closer look of the little cute trainstation: Click on pic to get a bigger one This is the second model you can made of the train. Finally not a steam engine again, but a nice blue/black diesel engine. Playability: 8/10 (With 5 minifigs, a great playability. And you can and a 4,5v/12v/9v motor very easily.) Design: 6/10 (It look realistic, but I miss a little tender behind it. The wagons are great.) Price: 4/10 (Because it's very simple, but second hand prices are far way too expensive.) Overall: 7/10 (For beginner is a nice train to start with. And you can add which motor you want.) Lets see a close look of the 7715 with his red 12v motor: Click on pic to get a bigger one
