Could be the territory they are out in- they've been released in the UK for sure (and indeed are sitting on my shelves!)

On a personal note, anything Batman related is a must buy for me, and following that anything DC. I've kind of fallen out of love with Marvel and this wave of sets, the most recent films and the Lego videogame have all compounded that, so I'm all for a DC D2C. That said, if it is going to be Batman related, I'd have preferred something a bit more crazy- if we cant have Wayne Tower or Mansion I'd much prefer the Batmobile/wing from the Lego movie to another tumbler. That said, I'll buy it anyway, only the duplo releases will stop me from being a DC completionist...

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
Samiens replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Anyone know of a good set to buy to get the parts for Emmet's car? As a relatively newly returned AFOL I don't have access to many spare parts... The car bits are particularly difficult!- 2,626 replies

That's true, although from a selfish point of view no one has yet made a high quality custom of dark archer... (sitting on my shelf, i appreciate its not based on 'the deathstroke' but close enough) I was still thinking season one- but a high quality print of season 2 deathstroke (maybe with a helmet and a face- I don't see either happening anyway!) would be amazing! Plus I'd pick up a bunch of Dark Archers for league if assasins members...

Oddly on the Arrow v AoS debate, I watched an episode of AoS, thought it was ok and then watched Arrow which was so much better I basically couldn't carry on watching AoS. If they gave us a single Arrow set (maybe a D2C as it would be more AFOL focussed due to the adult nature of the show) I would be so chuffed, we could get Arrow, Dark Archer and maybe a couple of others with no new moulds needed.

Middle-Earth Madness - Mount Doom vs Lothlórien [Week 4]
Samiens replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'll have to go for Mount Doom! -
On this whole issue, its interesting to remember that Burton was heavily influenced by 'A Killing Joke', indeed he called it the first comic book he ever loved and so its natural they share some design features. I'd suggest that putting Batgirl in the joker set is either a bit of a reference to 'A Killing Joke' or just about getting a new fig in the most expensive set. On the Marvel sets- ive seriously gone off Marvel lately but if the sentinel is drastically improved i could be tempted, especially as I'm getting zero sets from the Spidey/Avengers wave.

Which is Your Favorite Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug Set?
Samiens replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Given the way Dol Goldur was left in the movie I am guessing there's more to come there but you're right about flick missiles- hate them in historic type sets.- 54 replies

Which is Your Favorite Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug Set?
Samiens replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I loved the laketown chase set from the moment I saw it but actually, having just built the Dol Goldur Battle I have to say its one of those sets you really need to see in real life- great minifigs, the build is highly reminiscent of the film- 54 replies

Bought all 4 sets yesterday and have now built them all. Thought I would post a few thoughts- its funny how building the sets has radically changed my opinion on them. I should say I'm a huge batman fan, and of the new 52 in particular, I prefer location based sets to vehicles too. 1. The Penguin Face Off: this is a set of 2 halves- the Batman side is uninspired, dull to build and action-figure toyish; while the penguin side is characterful if rather too small. The penguin print is very nice, and coupled with the duck (which needs to be moc'd larger) and the nice (if tiny) studless ice feature I would recommend this set. 2. The man-bat attack: the batcopter is ok if not very exciting, Nightwings glider really bugs me (it feels oriented wrong) which leaves the minifigures as a saving grace. I've got a purist custom manbat but this print is a lot better when i put them side by side. I love the red nightwing, far better than the custom I own and a nicer print than the old blue although I'm iffy on the hair. Not sure anyone needs another 90s Batman though. If I wasn't a completionist I wouldn't buy this but I would pick up Manbat and Nightwing, which may or may not be cheaper than getting the whole set as a bonus. 3. The Riddler Chase: The best set of the wave and pretty much essential- the dragster has more bulk to it than I thought from the photos and the Batmobile is an absolute beast- fun to build with a predatory silhouette, its accurate to the show but fits in with a more mature batman look as well. I have a Christo Flash, and I'm afraid to say the TLG version is nowhere near as good, but he's still a solid figure; the Riddler looks far better without muscle detailing and the zany costume captures the character, while the Batman print is great, with the added bonus that a leg swap to plain grey and black hands make a convincing New 52 Batman (for which I will need to buy another). I was underwhelmed by this in photos but in real life its a great set. 4.The Joker Steamroller: I love the steamroller- its crazy, colourful, slightly disturbing and sizable enough to convey a sense of threat (unlike, say the funhouse which is just too thin and flimsy). The new Joker print is great fun (love the fedora) and the joker goon is a solid addition. The other figures (that recurring Batman aside) are gorgeous- my only slight complaint on either is the way Bab's hair creases her cape- but either way she is essential buying. I know Damian polarises opinion but the new less muscled Robin print works a treat for me- I already had a purist custom with the diddy legs but I still love the effect. Finally, the plane. Yes the play feature is stupid and the mechanism slightly hurts the silhouette but I think it compares favourably to the 2012 Batwing which was flat and tedious to build as a result. The batplane has more height to it and makes greater use of interesting building techniques and I suspect a MOC'd front end would improve it further. I can't rate this as highly as the Riddler Chase but only because everything in that set is both fun to build and a new print/character- this set is let down by an out of place batman print and a silly play feature. Overall this wave is far more solid and enjoyable than I had thought. Most of the minifigures, Batman excluded, are either brand new or great new designs and most of the builds are strong, with the scuba kit and glider the only real stinkers and the batcopter and plane being ok but missable- the rest is delightful. The wave does long for a proper location- replacing the batcopter/glider or batplane with a small building would set this wave off perfectly. So, my next task is to build a MOC to house it all- I've got a crazy idea for a section of abandoned and condemned zoo with a road running past and a sewer underneath connecting to a ruined penguin enclosure...

I've started it, there could be some great building based sets but (unlike me) Lego tends not to go for them. The Batwing design is really cool though

Fair enough! It would just be a shame to me if we get new 52 bat family members but no Batman himself!

I love the new 52 designs, part of what got me really into all things superheroes as an adult. I do wonder if we will see other batman designs- the BTB design is relatively close to the new52 batman (in grey, not in black like in the actual series) but I would really love a specifically designed one!

Hi everyone, I have rediscovered my Lego leanings at the tender age if 29, collecting the superhero and tmnt lines in particular (ie own every set released since 2012...) as well as a load of custom minifigs (I'm lucky enough to have a Christo flash and green lantern among many many more). I have also written a tabletop skirmish game for the superhero lines which I play on a regular basis with my wife and anyone else who's interested. I live in the UK in London
