Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

Wolverine looks like a clone of KO Bricks 'Chrome Claws'. The others are probably more OLS and PPM clones. -
How to find out how much my sealed Lego poly bags are worth
Robianco replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in Community
I think the best thing to do is check BrickLink for the prices on there and check recent completed auction price cels on eBay for those that have sold. That should give a good idea of value. 30371 on BrickLink is priced at £1.50 in the U.K. With the cheapest US price at £3.00. eBay prices that have sold are at 99p to £3.00. People have tried to sell for more but they've gone unsold. 5012 seems to be around the £5-£6 mark on eBay and BrickLink. -
As others have said this looked like a great MOC but not destined for Ideas release due to it's size and seemingly complicated build. I'm so glad this is getting released. I don't regularly buy City or Modular buildings but one of my favourite sets is my Haunted Mansion and the Old Fishing Store will certainly be getting added to my Lego collection. I'm really happy this set has been chosen and really excited for what this decision means for future Ideas reviews.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Robianco replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Isn't Arkham the most minifigures that any DC set has had. Or even the most any Superheroes set has had? With us getting Alfred and Bruce Wayne with the Cave I'm not sure how much of a nail that puts in a Wayne Manor coffin. Mind you... there's been no mention at all of a larger set so the notion of it is pretty much wish listing or guesswork anyway. -
Yeah. The Cantina and Yavin Base are something that most AFOLs would love and outside of The Death Star are the most iconic locations toward with. Cantina has been done (to a point but they could always surprise us by including Wuher, PB and Dr Evazan along with various other customers) but aside from the extra figures that scene can be replicated with the smaller set. Yavin IV had no battle so it wouldn't make sense to have any Imperials included and they don't tend to make sets that are just bases. Even Batcaves are attacked by one villain or another. We've had a Sandcrawler, X-Wings, TIE and B-Wing recently so aside from Vader's TIE Advanced or Y-Wing I can't look outside the three I mentioned originally.

If Xinh get those right then they could be fantastic. I'm going to assume the top row are just clones of Christo's versions. Yeah... There were a couple of people did those. I seem to remember SY did a CW Flash with a Changing Booth thing... Some of them were dark red I believe. Either way the SY print should be far more accurate than Xing or Pogo. -
If they go for something Episode IV due to the 40th Anniversary then I can only see it being Tantine IV, Star Destroyer or the Falcon. I can't think of anything else iconic that they would consider a set for especially when they've released two location based sets this year. Unless they manage to tie the Ideas nomination for Luke's Speeder into a UCS set for next year.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Robianco replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
The Lego Movie had the Sea Cow as it's largest set didn't it? That was £179 I think. After the we're looking at Benny's Spaceship. The sheer scope of figures and characters in that movie lent itself to multiple waves spanning various themes... With us having the Batcave and Arkham, and without seeing the film yet, I'm not sure what may come along at a higher pricepoint. Someone mentioned Wayne Manor and we certainly know it's featured in the movie but whether we'd get it is something else entirely. Nice thought though. -
Of all the sets we could have I think Yoda's Hut (with Yoda and training Luke) along with Cloud City (Lando, Leia, Luke, Bespin Guard variant - we've already got a perfect Han) and a Cloud Car to accompany with Cloud Car Pilot. Not having training Luke as well as Leia Bespin Dress or Leia Bespin Escape in flesh figures are a crying shame (I'm only leaving out Luke Bespin Fatigues and Lando as I have Phoenix Customs figures but they would be represented too). I want the Cloud Car Pilot in my quest to have each Kenner figure released as a Lego figure.

I'd always go for an OT set as a UCS. A minifig scale AT-AT would have a frightening price... Far above the £179-£219 price range of the current sets. If I was to wishlist one then it would be a Falcon. That's it. I like large sets but I'd go for something minifig scale over a large X-Wing or TIE (even though I own the X-Wing). a Falcon would be pretty much the pinnacle of a minifig scale UCS set for me as it's the most iconic vessel in the SW Universe and the price of 10179 is testament to that.

Looking at the images of the SY wave that Atom looks really well done. It's not a complete copy of the OLS figure so they've done a little refining of the design but if it's up to SY's best standard then this figure will be a fantastic addition to a collection. Add in the SDCC base plate and it looks a very good deal. You can always pick the helmet up from BL as its a regular piece but even owning a genuine SDCC figure I'm still tempted to pick this one up. Flash looks like it'll be a good one but I've got my Christo CW Flash on the way spot I don't think it'll be hitting those heights. -
I actually remember having a wooden box of Lego when I was very young... it had a sliding lid which was a pice of hardboard which was printed on one side and it slide into grooves into the side of the box to close it. That had the old style figures in it which has 2x2 brick bodies etc... I think the minifigures still had the moulded stump arms rather than full articulation. I then remember having some castle stuff and maybe some city stuff with the torsos being stickers etc. Anyway... As I was born in 1973 there was a film released when i was very young that kind of changed everything and from the age of around 6 or so my life was completely focused on Star Wars figures. From the point I entered early teenage years it was then music and various other things that occupied my time. Goodbye toys of all descriptions. When I finished Uni I was working in a design agency and one of the younger lads bought the first Snowspeeder set and built it in his lunch break. I loved it... but never bought any Lego at that point. Then a neighbours of my parents had a pirate ship smashed up by unruly cousins at Christmas and they brought it in on Boxing Day when we were visiting so I built it back up mostly from the box and thought it was great... again... no Lego purchased. Then around 6 or so years go at a Christmas party for work I got a Hoth Battlepack as a secret santa gift. At around 2.30am after retiring to my room at the hotel I opened it and built it (surprisingly). It was downhill from there. X-Wing, TIE Fighter, Falcon, Slave 1 all followed quickly. Couple of Hoth sets after that... I was in deep with SW. Then I got a cheap Batman set for £4 from Tesco... then I wanted all the Batman figures... then that got silly. I was fine with just SW and DC but then I visited the Museum and they had a Witchcraft exhibition on... and someone had displayed 4842 Hogwarts and 4738 Hagrid's Hut and I thought they looked great. I'd bought my daughter the Forbidden Forest for around £3.50 on clearance and that was around in her toys still so I ended up picking up the last two waves of Harry Potter also. Thankfully I try to limit my Lego spend on OT stuff (I'm still undecided on RO until I've seen it) and DC.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I must admit I don't bother with polybags with builds like that so would the reason for that having a big(ish) price on the aftermarket be down to it being packaged or are there parts in there that are difficult to find? Wouldn't it cost around £2 on Bricklink to get the parts to build Poe's X-Wing?

I must admit with my lack of interest in Marvel and especially the cinematic FF I'm not sure I can help you with that one. -

The Superman looks like the one that was in the Mech set which is a VERY nicely printed figure and might actually be better looking than Lego's own. Batman looks like it's just a clone of the BvS suit which is a shame. CW Flash looks OK but if they get the same costume texture going that they have on the Superman figure then that could look excellent when in hand. I'm thinking that Atom figure is a clone of the OLS one... it would make sense as it's very close to the Xinh and Pogo figures wo there must have been a source for that (I've just checked and it's close but not exact). -

I ended up with a Lego Store Employee polybag instead... which was also a nice surprise as I had far too many Spiderman figures at one point! -
I think this is probably why Lego have brought a legal action against Lepin specifically. The almost wholesale cloning of existing material is something I don't think has happened before. This also feels different in the fact that these are Lego's own licenses... Modulars, Technics and now Ideas submissions... that it may feel like more of a personal violation of Lego's catalogue over the reproduction of licensed sets. I'm interested to see where the legal case goes in a year's time and how much of an effect it has on the cloning of these sets and bootlegging on the whole. As Peppermint_M has said... there is a place for clone brands and some of the people that are producing minifigures are actually expanding into new themes that are unique and don't copy anything existing. I'm also OK with the production of unique licensed characters that can act as a supplement to the many custom minifig producers who expand our minifig collections so having these companies develop their own material is actually something to look forward to. I can see how enticing it would be to be able to own an entire modular city for around £300 or so but when I think about it is does feel odd... especially on a Lego forum. I didn't think once about buying a Lepin Death Star when going to pick up my 75159 from the Lego Store but I can also see the appeal in picking up a set even out of curiosity... a full modular for less than the price of a small/medium sized licensed set. I must admit a burgeoning Lepin 'Fan Club' on a Lego forum might be something the mods and people who run the board need to make a decision on... especially with EB's good relationship with Lego. I know I've been active in the Bootleg Minifigures thread since it started around 2 or 3 years ago but even that was started by interest in figures that weren't produced by Lego... since then the quality has become very, very good by some companies and, thankfully, the focus is actually less on cloning existing figures and rather on newer and more unique things now. I actually own only a few unique Bootleg figures as a expansion of my Lego collection and only then when the quality is comparable to Lego's but I don't think I'd look at my collection in the same way if I knew they were all fake. I just wanted to add that this post isn't a 'shaming' post in any way. I wouldn't consider it my place to tell people what to do outside of here or post what they wanted on here... I'm not staff... After reading the escalation of 'for' and 'against' over the last day or so I just wanted to add how I felt about them.

Force Friday (30th September) promotions

Having had a bit of a look round it looks like it's been a promo in the US previously. It's a Lego Store Employee although it was described as a Lego Associate when they put it in the bag. I've still not got bag out of the boot of my car so the Death Star and the additional polybags are still there since Sunday. -

After getting the FO Trooper poly with my AT-ST I went back in the Sunday and bought the Death Star. I was given another FO Trooper, a tiger poly and a Lego Associate poly bag. I've not seen one of the associate bags before... does anyone know where they originated? -

I agree. It's a good facility/prison. To be honest the recent City Prison with the rocks was a good starting point for Black Gate Prison in my mind. There are some excellent builds which could be used to expand Gotham where needed. -

Iv'e got the old Arkham and love it... but this feels like a different kind of arkham... especially with the gym facilities such as the weights along with the bench and chairs. I still think the characters in this are going to have to be lighter than they normally would. Joker can't be the psychopathic killer he is in the comics as it's a kid's film so the styling will be lighter throughout. I just hope Catwoman's cowl is black elsewhere as it'll be closer to the New 52 although the additional of the goggles mould is a step forward. The orange belt on Catwoman is also used on Scu-Bat in the Batcave I think. -

I'd say that the majority of them are kids. If ever I see stampy-feet tantruming I'll assume the user is between 6 and 13 yrs old and didn't get what they wanted from mummy and daddy. If, by some amazing surprise, they're above 14 and approaching adulthood I'd hope they grow up quickly.
