  1. I think it is mostly adults that do it yes, however it is probably easier for kids to swap them with friends if half the class collect them.. I think Lego stores see a lot more of this activity so even kids will pick up on it. When I do it in normal stores, I prefer to do it in the morning or late evening when there is not so many customers around I have have helped other customers get their minifig and even the employees in the Lego store learning them to find the figs a couple of times.. I think it is September in 2023 so probably 3 more series the old way..
  2. Yes, my 3 first figs are on the way (used it as a way to get over the threshold for the forestmen GWP). The normal sets shipped first, then the figs, the B&P have not shipped yet.. I think it is excellent for those of us living far from a shop with BAM, however the number of parts is not the best yet. Hopefully they will get all the BAM parts hat have come out the last few year soon, then it would be fantastic for army-building as well
  3. If we get a new Castle set in the next few year, I want something new that fit with MMV and MVR as part of the village or a farm. I must say I prefer the civilian figs there over the ones in the Castle this year to be honest
  4. It is probably pearl gold I really do not like that color
  5. Is the following part in the castle?: Would be a perfect fit, but last used in 2019 so maybe they did could not use it without tapping into the budget
  6. Will all those waves and sets I do not think it is possible for a "Castle" theme to have any fewer useful parts, I got the queen and that was it If it only had one set like MVR focusing on civilians and animals with some monster attacking, from the little I have seen that happened in the series.. Well done! The blacksmith is so big is almost looks like the castle is in the background Yes MMV and MVR is a perfect match I think with the castle
  7. I will get the costume knight for the parts, some of the other maybe if I can swap them with other figs, but do not think I will spend any money on them. In the beginning the costumed figs was funny and so popular that the price on the after-marked quickly became high, so I usually buy on of each when a series comes out. However now it is several in each series, they rarely have any useful parts or accessories and I have not used a single one in any displays I have so maybe I shall stop buying them I am sure the kids love them, so not surprised we got something like this instead of "retro" figs or similar, but to me this is the least useful "normal" series in many years...
  8. I think it is good they did not do that, would not look very nice with a lot of black trees I think. I voted for forestmen in round 1 to get some figs etc included since they are different from a lot of the other subthemes within Castle. However what was missing most from the line up was a big D2C castle so I am happy they went for that and included the GWP forestmen to go with the set. Next time we get a Castle set, if it is next year or in 10 years I hope for a expansion of the MMV and MVR
  9. Skeletons do not count in my mind and they have a rather limited use. The press release mention a cat as well so could be that a minifig was swapped out for something else in the last minute or they are just inconsistent as several mentions To me the goat is something we as Castle fans should be able to "force" Lego to make, other themes like SW seems always to have a specific minifig or similar they are campaigning for Lego to make and after a couple of years it usually shown up as well. We managed to vote Castle to victory so we should be able to bring back the goat as well, after all the castle set is only worth about 8 goats
  10. I voted even strategically in the second round My favorite theme is Pirates, however with the fantastic B-bay just released the Pirate fans I assumed was not so hungry as the 3 other finalists. I wanted a set for the imperials, but since Pirates (unlike Castle that merged the subthemes) managed to get to the final without the imperial votes on 9th place is was unsure if a imperial set was still an option. So I ended up voting for my second favorite theme in the poll; Castle since I never had any interest in Bonkle or Space People assumed it was a general vote for Castle and voted for it, I am sure max 10% of the voters actually wanted a yellow castle "We did have an opportunity to include a new knight's helmet or something similar for a minifigure, but developing a more versatile building element was preferable." So a goat was a option
  11. I doubt he has any inside info an sales numbers from Lego to be honest
  12. What he said was: "The limiting factor, isn't pure finance, it's is the same one you have at home. Space." So it is a combination of budget and space and these two points I made mention it indirectly: That set is not an official Lego set and have 0 in design budget so it do not count. However the designer of that set was really unlucky with the timing, had the set come out next year instead he could have used all the new relevant printed parts and minifigs in the set That is only a budget issue! A normal wave of sets normally have a bigger design budget than a single D2C set within the same theme Except the 2 figs from the blacksmith they needed to make all the figs from scratch and they could only afford to make a few so that is why so many are similar just look at the blue wizard and the soldier from BAM, they had no issue with making new prints for them there since that is a different budget if we get a new set or wave of sets in a year or two I am sure we will see several new minifigs within the fractions since they can reuse the ones from the castle now without spending a lot of budget on them From the link @Sir Dano posted: "Every brick made, in each colour has to go into it's own box. This box needs to be stored until it's ready to be packed into the bags in the retail boxes you buy. So there are thousands of boxes. Each year some bricks stop being made and this leaves empty boxes we can fill with new bricks (or new colours of bricks at least). So each team of Designers is given a number of boxes it has the chance to fill. So let's say you want some new minifigure legs. First you mold the hips, and fill a box, then a left leg - fill a box, a right leg - fill a box. Then you stick all those parts together and fill another box in the factory. Then if we print the legs it's yet another box. But consider, if we don't print the legs then, after four non-printed legs we have saved four boxes and this means we could make a whole extra set of legs. This might mean we have a whole new character we can make. Or alternatively the set designer can change the colour of a brick to fill that single saved 'box' in the factory, or print an element." Definitely missing a couple of horses in the sets for the knights with grille and extra armor
  13. That is true at least if he did not get a closer look at the set before/after the filming. However it only makes sense that all the parts are printed budgetwise: the set has not many parts for the price so could not have used a lot of the budget there it has a lot of minifigs, but many of them are similar so the number probably cost a bit not the printing Only a few animals and they come in other sets this year so not a lot was taken for the budget for them eigther reviving parts that where not in production may have cost a fair bit, but not sure how much of the parts that is needed for the castle that was not in production (except the barding) I assume it is no new parts made for the set except the cape and flags, but do not need a mould for that so probably do not cost a lot parts in new colours, could see them spending a bit of the budget on that (but not so into parts so do not now for sure, will have to wait for the New Elementry review) printed parts, at least 2 horse barding and a lot of shields so I assume they spent a fair bit of the budget on those since prints are not cheap (just look at all the stickers there are in some sets)
  14. That was bad news for the HP theme, he has done some fantastic sets in his career and I am sure the new theme that gets him will be better since he joined
  15. I do not think I have enough room to display the blacksmith far enough from the castle so it would not look out of scale, but I will give it one try before I conclude and move the blacksmith. What would probably be a excellent fit is Mill Village Raid and Medieval Market Village (and probably Kingdoms Joust in some displays)
  16. Thanks for the link, you know it is good when Andres is almost speechless " Are shields printed or stickers?" "Only printed elements (as far as I could see)"
  17. Yes, but looks like Milan Madge is the lead designer on the Castle and Mike is on the spaceship
  18. Depends on what was wrong, but sounds like that would be worth a lot of money today
  19. Would not surprise me since Mike Psiaki is one of the designers From what it is worth there was a female pirate from the first year in 1989 To me the best Castle sets came out between 2009-12, but none of them proper castles so I am looking forward to getting one soon
  20. They probably had to use a lot of the budget on bringing a lot of parts back that are not in production now, so maybe they just prioritised another part over that this time
  21. Please include a horse with barding in that battle-pack of yours
  22. That sound like good news, hopefully it will be widely available so we can get a better deal on the price
  23. Too bad the set did not include any goats or you would be in quite the pickle
