If I stole it, sorry. If I didn't: Good luck! Got a URL so I can see yours? I'd recommend RC-Motors. It's easier to add a 9V light to it than using a PF one. Also the RC-Motors have great torgue on CargoRailway's design.

I currently prefer floor, so much more space to use. Also I'm a barebones model railroader, no scenery whatsoever ^^ Also, large curves, tables and small apartments don't mix well.

Made some modifications, also added lights and has a better overall look. I also modified the steering-car, I plan to alter the middle coaches too, but currently lacking parts to do so.

Cargo and Passenger Pod Terminal for Cargo Railways. The crane is from the 2010 Cargo Train, additional Pods are made out of spare parts and BL-Orders.

MOCs: Models of trains running in Hungary

Had to check a prototype image first. You Nailed the design and the ugly boxes on top. Oh Hai!, I C LDDFLIRT, NAIS! -
a pack with only straight track? HUZZAH!!

Looks good for a first LDD file. I did some mental planning for a GTW, it'll be easy to hide the PF components in it. But once again, the front is the challenging part, but as it has the same front as the FLIRT, no problem there. And for a FLIRT-Layout: single lane, no loop. -

I continue here, because it's more related to your MOC's. Say, in this awesome picture.. just say, you didn't, did you? XD Also, really nice what you Hungarians did there, nice layout, open space, beautiful trains. Fitting trackside structures. Congrats to you all! Nest time, go the whole 70m trough the train! XD Would be awesome on so many levels!I also saw your LDD WIPs of a GTW, looks nice (AshiValkoinen's Brickshelf). But the GTW only has 2 driven axles ^^ All hail the King of LEGO STADLER ;) -

This would also work, and uses less space.
-
I wonder where you had this much space... but great tip, may ask the local school or church for temporary space ;)

QFT! Really really nice! I also like that you don't let the trains run at full speed, but at a more realistic one.

My PF MOD for my 4559 is finished, works great on 9V, RC and Flex-track. I also replaced the 9V motor with a RF-one. On 4559 there is, somehow, quite good traction available, even with the old grey O-rings. I also replaced the clear blue windows of the battery box pod with black ones, and made some more black cargo-only pods. I think it looks great in black and yellow, with no blue anywhere. Of course, no minifig want's to travel in darkness, but with the modular design of the Cargo Railway, it's easy to swap 'em out for the standard passenger pods. @Moderators in charge: could you please change from WIP to MOD? Thank you.

Arduino would be interesting, toyed with the Idea to use it in LEGO applications (signalling would be nice, or as a interface between Windows PC and PF Infrared). I certainly would be interested, but I think my knowledge in electronics would be insufficient. (Got some basics down, and I'm able to code simple C programs or VB Script=.

Do you have the Product Code?

MOC: Japan Railway (JR) Hakodate Line Series 40 Locomotive
ZueriHB replied to PrinceWilliam's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Wow! Triple-Nice engine you did there. Just beautifull. All those details makes it really ease to just stay and look at it some more. Overhead lines, opening doors, escalator, ticketing machine, roof, the pantograph, just about everything. -
I talked to lego S@H and learned some stuff
ZueriHB replied to Carefree_Dude's topic in LEGO Train Tech
What kind of load do you have on your battery boxes? My charging time is about 2.5h after about 6h running time (one or two motors, PF lights). Also there should be a topic in train tech about charging the battery box trough a 9V motor. You could also increase the voltage up to 18v for shorter charging times. -
you can use option B) on both 7938 and 7939, it looks like TLG even intendet this, but somehow forgot to include instructions for it. As you see, the IR Receiver (fig. A) has enough space for a second plug, where you can connect one or two PF-lights. (I didn't go that route, that's why it's empty). I used an extension cable instead and connected a second motor (9V) and two PF-lights to it (fig. B). As the PF-lights have a middle section with a 2 x 2 x 2/3 brick, I just hid those underneath the engine (fig. C). It has enough space for both. There are some other modifications visible (mostly to get the 9V motor and no derailments), just discard these, as they are not necessary for adding one or two PF-lights (Also do this on the 7938 Passenger Train to save space for cables).
-
You have several possibilities to control the PF lights on any train. A) Connected to the same output as the train motor, I do this, because I have 8 PF trains with lights. B) Connected to the other output than the train motor, so you can control the lights with the variable speed remote and set brightness to your liking and it stays on even if the train is stopped. C) Connected directly to the PF rechargeable battery box, setting the brightness with the inbuilt switch and it's easily viewable if the train is turned on or off. Had to use option C) on the passenger train, because there isn't enough space to add it directly to the same input as the motor. Also for the 7939 cargo train, two plugs can be connected for each input. If you wan't, I can make pictures of my 7939.

I think it has to do with the battery box / rechargeable battery box and IR receiver combo. As even 9V motor whine when powered this way.
-
The RC-motors can't even pull a short LEGO-issued train around a circle, best example is the Cargo Deluxe Train, which reportedly can't pull all carriages it comes with. Same for the new Cargo Train with the old wheel sets / rubber bands. So the PF motor supersedes the RC motor in any way except the cable sticking out of it. But the new cables are sturdier than the old ones.

I was in a similar situation like you, only I just had an Emerald Night to begin with and a bucket of RC-track. But after I acquired a 4559 for myself (I love this train) and only had a circle of 9V track, I decided early on to mod it to PF. Doesn't look too shabby if I dare say so myself. Look here to see how I did it.

The patents should have expired in most countries, so if anyone with enough capital is up to it. I'd buy 3rd party monorail. It's a prototype, id sadly never got to market.

Nice Work there! Are those 12V signals or did you do something else? -
I'm powering a second PF motor, so it is of most importance, to have them properly synchronized, and sadly there is no bluetooth or other wireless connection between the IR receiver and the PF motor. ;) And I don't know what looks ugly about it (the cables).
