  1. Finally ordered some issues, as always, a great read!
  2. 3677 is modeled after European diesels. And looks like a Vossloh G1700 or similar
  3. It is possible, without any modification, to use a Rechargeable Battery with the red cover: Just replace one 1x4 modified plate with 2 1x1 plate to attach the black disc. To open the Rechargeable Battery Box, forcibly remove the four screw covers on the bottom with a small flat screwdriver and remove the four Philips screws. Also remove both screws of the red battery cover. Replace the covers, put no screws back and insert into the engine. Drive well.
  4. For the same amount of power output with higher voltage, less current is needed. Fundamentals, dear Watson ;)
  5. My Instructions where packaged like those of the Maersk Train, I ordered trough S@H: EDIT: Also my box lacks any mention of special edition whatsoever.
  6. Good work there mister! I really like your panto's and who designed those overhead wires? Excellent!
  7. It's still my Re 450 and DPZ train, transferred all modifications to LDD and did some behind the scenes improvements. Here the prototype with the new Niederflur Doppelstockwagen (low-floor doubledecker car) @roamingstudio: tried different ways to space the windows in 1st class more out, but didn't really work out, and looks ugly. If you want to build your own DPZ (w/o NDW), or want to give me suggestions, I attached the lxf-File for your pleasure. CC, some rights reserved. DPZ_gelb.lxf
  8. Also try sidings, or anywhere where you don't strictly need straights. I got a call from Franz Carl Weber today (a Swiss toy dealership). They told me they can't even order the Red Cargo Train. I'll ask Manor if they may carry it. Toys 'r Us is too much out of my way. Alas, I just ordered it on S@H.
  9. Available now and CHF 249.- for Switzerland (Cargo Train: 269.-, Passenger Train: 169.-)
  10. My tiny collection of one Emerald Night grew quite a bit in the last 18 Months. Metro Liner, added PF (LiPo, IR, LED) and RC (Motor) My third train, and second 9V train I bought. Cargo Railway, added PF (LiPo, IR), RC (Motor) and 9V (Light) My favorite train made by TLG to date. Just love it's design. Cargo Railway, now with more cargo, created new Cargo Pods, in 8 and 16 lengths. That's why I added to the theme, and all my rolling stock is compatible with those pods ;) 2010 Passenger Train, added additional carriages and a second PF motor with an additional set (each), also replaced Battery Pack with LiPo and added PF Lights. At first I didn't really like the design, but it grew on me. 2010 Passenger Train, standard enhancement with LiPo and PF Lights, also one 'automatic coupling' for double heading. But with lot's of those little buggers cruising around, it really looks good. 2010 Cargo Train, with two sets some nice double heading and standard enhancement for the leading engine (LiPo, LEDs, 2nd Motor), 2nd engine is only a dummy. Nice little engine, also the cranes came in handy. Emerald Night with two additional carriages, makes for a very nice looking train. Real nice train here, sadly, it doesn't really fit my structure gauge. Maersk Train, standard double heading with 6 carriages. Standard PF Enhancement (LiPo, LED, 2nd Motor), trailing engine is of course a dummy, and added some cargo pods. My longest train cruising around my layout. Looks great, passing stations with slow speed. NO BITMAP IMAGE DPZ Double-decker push-pull train, Standard PF Enhancement (LiPo, LED, 2nd Motor), my 1st MOC. Click here for photo
  11. I run my trains with the LiPo battery and most with two PF motors. It lasts about 6-7 hours (Speed Setting 3 or 4, two restarts because of 3h timeout). of a Maersk engine, outfitted with two PF motors pulling a dummy engine and 12 cars.So I don't really see any need for more than 2 Motors.
  12. Same happened here, my H0 Trains are collecting dust, ok, most of the H0 stuff is old stock from the 70s my dad bought. But my most time consuming hobby besides LEGO Trains is Video Games, I don't play that often, but collecting and trying out those old and vintage Systems has a certain charm.
  13. New Mainstation, tell me what you think. Almost entirely built out of the current 'train station'. Still needs a building.
  14. About 512 straight track plus brickloads of curves and flex-track. And I think 12 pairs of switches and 5 double crossovers.
  15. Hey Bricktrix, glad you posted those photos! Your old layout is exactly the kind of modeling I don't like, too cluttered with everything. But your new modular layout is stunningly beautiful! The MOCs, trains, carriages, buildings, everything! I bet it'll look so much better once it's 80% complete (a model layout is never finished ^^). Also your automatic switch points is a unique and great idea.
  16. Thanks! I just bought a second train, could really use the additional PF stuff. There is no 'wrong' on my dual track, alternate operation is standard. Additional Photos and Videos are currently uploading. New Version of my wye crossing.
  17. For most old designs, it's not that hard to hide rechargeable battery pack, IR-receiver in it and use the 9V or a PF motor. I successfully modded Cargo Railway and Metroliner to work with PF.
  18. A cute little station, I really like the big clock. Great work!
  19. We decided to dismantle the entire layout. Not only to rebuilt it, but also to clean everything, from track to floor. And while the trains are parked, here my new take on a main station, no buildings what so ever, just trying out some point configurations: Notes: I use double crossovers in a single configurations, so I can run trains parallel, red beams indicate disabled points. EDIT: fixed broken images.
  20. I like model railways and I really can get lost in some pictures of well made LEGO towns (with or without rail). I never really liked those over cluttered layouts with lot's of track and no landscape, also I strongly discourage simple ovals. But for my approach, as I don't wan't to restrict myself to 'a table' I do floor. And because I have a very understanding GF, I'm allowed to occupy almost all available floor space for my hobby. Because of my profession I know how real tracks are laid out and try to strongly adhere to those real life standards. Of course I still shorten distances to roughly 1m = 100m or 16 studs = 10m. Placements of stations or stoppings is governed by surrounding space, where it'll look good and / or realistic to have one, there will be one. Sadly, my GF's not really a fan of town, so no towns, track side buildings, bust stops etc. I hope I can convince her to comply with some of my wishes. PS: If there where a simple way to reverse head and rear lights, there would be almost no loops to reverse a train on my layout.
  21. Here are some of those electric switches in practical use. Please understand, handling a camera, 4 trains and all switches is kinda hard. ^^
  22. I really had! So much, I shot some more photos do make an even bigger Photosynth. Thanks, but I couldn't do it without my GF's permission, does wonders for your hobby if your partner is into it too (Okay, not that much as I).
  23. Add a second PF motor, may need two extension cables and a 9V cable / plate to reverse polarity. I did this and my Maersk loco happily pulls all my cargo wagons. I still need to build the second locomotive to get a better look on my consist. Have a look:
  24. I also started like this, only with the emerald night mids in my LEGO SW staff. Now I have more track than bricks ^^. If your passenger train can cope with the added load without any problems or / and it performs to your satisfaction, just let it be, but I find it convenient to have the rear engine motorized too, just add some 9V cables to get the polarity reversed and presto, of you go. Also putting the second cargo loco at the front will look better.
  25. Actually, it was her idea. *hugs GF* And for all, Microsoft has these new Photosynth thingy. tried it out, not perfect, but usable. Also it really shows the size of it all. CLICK ME NAO! Also thanks for all the feedback.
