  1. I connected the front-light directly to the battery pack. And a small extension cable to the receiver, on which the motor and the connection to the rear cab is plugged in.
  2. Another option would be to extend the walkway to accept two tracks beneath and use your approach to add a third track. For those who do not want to hunt Bricklink, a second 7937 is quite handy, also the platform of the 7938 Passenger Train.
  3. nice one there, This is the only Diesel I like here in Switzerland, and you got shape and color spot on. Where do you fit the battery pak? Replace the nicely detailed diesel engine or is there some more hidden space?
  4. Uni-direction codes, which are only read in one direction. Or have a flag set on the train, to designate it as a Cargo, Intercity or Local train. So the CPU will only codes meant for that kind of train (like stopping at a station), but there are still global codes for intersection and speed-settings.
  5. Funny you mention Rail4Chem, as they purchased those two engines back in 2007: That's no joke. Refitted them with current security equipment (ZUB, Eurobalise, GSM-R Radio) and made them fit for regular service, only to not do it. Those Ae 4/7 where built in 1927. So, diverse rollingstock here in Switzerland (and Europe).

  7. More pantographs doesn't make an engine stronger, it allows it to drive under different overhead wires (like Switzerland, Italy ect).
  8. The 9V or RC Motor won't turn correctly with these new baseplates, as the 9V connector will get stuck and the train derails. so tough luck. Like this: Sadly, you will need the second PF motor, as one of those is lacking in traction. just use two long PF extension gables and an old 2x4 9V electric plate.
  9. If you are inclined to buy the RC Motor, don't do it. You can attach the PF extension cable to the 9V Motor (or to the light and have lights and traction trough PF) and have a better tractive effort. If you want to use RC or PF motors, use 2. (Maybe except for Cargo Railway)
  10. I will redo my FLIRT, as I want to scale it back to L-Trains and maybe 6wide. Also I may present my first ever Train MOC (again) It's not perfect, as I still have trouble getting something SNOTed right. Driven by 2 RC Motors, PF rechargeable battery box and cleverly hidden IR receiver.
  11. Here in Switzerland, we have engines with up to 10'000 HP, like the SBB Re 6/6 (7850kW), and I think some other countries and railway companies have powerful engines.

  13. It also happens on regular track, and on flex track, the PF motors stall (with a reasonable train length of more than 5 wagons), my RC or the 9V pull more, even on flex track.
  14. I have now both new PF trains and I'm frankly disappointed with the PF-Motors performance. I have a Cargorailway with 6 wagons, powered trough rechargeable battery pak, IR receiver and a RC motor ordered from S@H. It performs much better in every way than the Cargo Loco pulling the same train (without RC-motor). Mostly it just wobbles and spins. And I even exchanged the wheel sets, same result.

  16. TLG's extension cables for the Power Functions are all compatible with 9V equipment.

Prepare for my blurry low resolution pictures of a modified Metroliner: Some information, why I didn't just connect the extension cable to the light brick at the front: the old 9V electric cable broke, so I used my PF lights and some ideas laying around to make it go again (and light up of course). As seen here, the dummy engineer can still sit comfortable at his console and do his work. Also the battery pak is easily removable. Once again, some Emerald Night leftovers were used to support stuff, like the IR receiver this time. Old Light Prism still in use and lighted with your handy PF lights, not that hard to pull of, old light brick used for stability. The IR receivers cable is routed on the left side of the battery, to keep the LED free. And use a simple method to switch it on and off without removing or opening anything: Final product and light testing. There was enough cable to light the bar at the back. Alternatively the IR receiver could be installed in the back and nothing much would happen at the front (with PF lights).

  19. My new extension cable just arrived, and it WORKS! Just remove the 2x4 yellow plate and replace it with the 9V end of the extension cable: ^ Please note how the cables are fitted, else derailments will occur. Some modifications had to be done to sit the train driver in there: After that do some testing and adjust cable mess as needed: Flexible Train Track is a very good testing bed, if it survives this, it'll survive about anything. And yes, it still looks odd with metal wheels on plastic track.
  20. I didn't had those at hand ATM, so I did this workaround. And for my solution, I could have used headlights and plate on the other side, but I just used the left over bricks with grille, gives it some diversity.
  21. As I only have a very small quantity of 9V tracks, and everything else is PF, I outfitted my Cargo Railway with the rechargeable battery box and IR receiver. I lost one passenger compartment and space for one cargo container. Fitting the battery box was a real easy decision, as it was kinda obvious. But one passenger compartment had to go, no big loss, for me. I was even able to have a real simple mechanism to turn the battery on or off: The more complex part was trying to fit the IR receiver, where it will go was obvious, just gonna loose the first container holder thingy. but how to put it there and don't have a big cably mess? I routed the cable around and concealed it with a 1x6 plate or similar. There is even enough space to store the rest of the cable behind the channel selector. Building the roof was a little harder, as the IR receiver is just 1/3 too high for the roof tiles supplied by 4559. So I had to brickbuild it with some Emerald Night spare parts (cheese slopes): Currently I'm waiting for my short extension cable to connect it to the 9V motor and light brick. So stay tuned for the rest. Hope it's helpful.
  22. I leave it at Lego Scale, and the (actual leading) engine is slightly smaller than the carriages, but I agree that it seems too small in comparison. Thanks for the feedback everyone.

  24. Did some more work in LDD for my Re 450, added some waggons, tried to approach it in different ways, which one I should do the whole train in? And as I ordered myself a Cargo Railway, and use RC Tracks, I tried to mod it with power functions. Sadly one passenger compartment is lost: And where the postal box was, I put the IR receiver, and used panels to route the cable around it. At the front, where a 1x4 yellow plate was used, it can easily replaced with an old electrical 1x4 plate to get acces to the 9V port and the new extension cable can be used to attach it to the IR receiver, there are already openings for the cable with the standard instructions. Didn't try to fit a minifig in there (yet).
  25. Because our loving federal leadership want's to protect our impor... sorry, us, from parallel imports. And that's mostly why Amazon.fr will ship everything everywhere, except to Switzerland.
