Don't be sorry! I quick google search gave me this picture: Because of a refit programme, the Re 460 are getting new Pantographs (the top ones are new). So you can choose which one you like to model. Now all Re 460 have the new ones. About the with: The panto should be about 6 wide in your model. As the lowered pantograph is invisible from eye-level. for example: If you ever come to Switzerland, contact me beforehand! Also, I tried my hand at some SBB rolling stock here, they're only 6 wide, so much less detail than your stunning rendition.

This is a real nice rendition of the Re 460. Some details are great (Window bigger than black stripe, the ad on the sides, bogies and overall form). But it irks me that some other details are slightly wrong. Sorry to nitpick, but the panthos are not that wide in Switzerland (only about half), also the third headlight is missing. The side ripples are understandable, because of the ad, it would be very hard to implement those. If you ever get to model the inside, let me know, I'll get pics in all angles you wish for ^^. BTW: It's just a great loco anyway. It's just so smoove to drive!

I design entirely in LDD, after I did some work or consider it done, I show it to my girlfriend, she'll find some valid points to change or do changes herself. Then when we're both happy with the results, we order parts. After everything arrived, I put it together. Later I may have a better idea to convey something and change it in bricks, this change than gets reflected in my LDD model.

That must be the best brick built Re 460 I've ever seen. But tell me, what's that thing doing inside it?
-
Sorry, but this is more like Chur: Back to topic: Cute little layout you have here, also the cargo ship is now to scale!

I still try to avoid long sections of flex track, because of the aforementioned problem. But the newer O-rings have less traction problems. 9V motors tough... it's too much for my metro liner.

Back when I only had an Emerald Night and some track, I did this wide curve: And I still use it for wide curves in tandem with straights, end of line bumpers and lots of little adjustments where curves and straights don't fit:

TRAIN TECH Help, General Questions & Talk to the Staff
ZueriHB replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I did base my designs upon official sets, and went from there, that's the easiest way. There are many different official sets and MOCs available as LDD downloads. Check the LDD subforum for the official sets.- 578 replies

Compatibility Between RC and Power Functions?
ZueriHB replied to DaddyDeuce's topic in LEGO Train Tech
You mean 11., 8 PF (4 channels times 2 connections) plus 3 RC. -
Got some shiny new 7994 to expand my little Harbor of Niederweningen: Just bevore the Entrance Signal lies Niederweningen Dorf, the commuter train is just leaving for Niederweningen Hafen, passing a heavy cargo shunter This small passenger station even has a little depot for the heavy shunters or other railbound transportation vehicles (Featering imaginary overhead wires ^^): Lets get a look at the existing facilities, which handle open goods and stuff and junk: Loading, unloading, the upgraded ships and open wagons: Now let me introduce you the new container terminal, handles standard 8 and 16 stud containers: Here an overview of the entire area: The main part measures 13 by 5 base plates, additional 8-10 required for practical shunting. Farewell Hope you like.

You did a very nice job on these BDe 4/4 and ABt you got there. Could you shoot a photo of the entire consist? Would look great. Thanks.

Update, Update. Update! More details later.

Try 7207 Fire Boat, that comes with a read hull. If you do not want the whole ship, get it on BrickLink.

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. Just ordered 7994 to complement the existing setup with a container terminal. I'll keep you posted.

at the moment it's not part of a bigger layout, just some fast mock up for future use. But the crane had to be put on rails! Had a spare and unassembled cargo crane from 2010's cargo train left over. EDIT: Did a small trip to the nearest toy store, this happens:

CHF 2.75 for 1 straight track in Switzerland (22.- for 8). 24.90 for the straight and flex track pak. I bought 200 straight pieces and 20 pairs of switches at Legoland Factory last year. Was a steal.

OK, I mixed in some other sets and spareparts, but you get the gist of it. Heavy diesel shunters and cargo ships. Train carriages and trucks can both drive directly to the ships. Of course, my Cargo Railway got a new pod for gravel and other loose cargo. Trains can unload their cargo without any ships present, and can be loaded later. The reverse is also possible. / Removing the covers. Loading trains, like in 3667. / This is no container harbor (yet). Attention Track 2! Cargo Railway passing trough! Hope you like it, or can get inspiration from it.

Say, is there a way to model wide curves made with strait track and a one sided half stud offset? Like here: LEGO ICE 3 on smooth curves Foto by holgermatthes

Welcome to Eurobricks, Steinkopf! Very nice rendition of the De 4/4. Great details everywhere. I couldn't do that (Main reason I didn't try my hand at a RBe 4/4). Show us some of your other great LBB creations! Say, you mainly build Swiss prototypes? If you need help about signage, just ask me.

Are LEGO Trains Classed as "Real" Model Trains?
ZueriHB replied to Paul B Technic's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Railroading, Model Railroading, and LEGO. As I'm a railroader of different trades, let me put in the one category which most modelers forget: operation. Model railroading operation can be easily done, with old blue and battery powered LEGO trains. I first started with my fathers H0 Märklin. He told my the base for every layout is one big circle around it. Now, 20 years later, I know better. I see train operation, station layouts and point configuration every day. From that, my layout evolved to what it was. You may even saw my layout, devoid of any buildings or track side structures, but also features realism unseen in a great percentage of model train layouts (HO, N, L, you name it). So model railroading is not only just nice scenery and a train put in there, depending on what you prefer or like to see, operation, is a big part of it too. The level of detail you want to model is up to debate (not everyone want's transport papers for every little bit of cargo, but a printed schedule spices things up). May sound like shameless promotion for operation, but if a LUG with a big and nice layout can incorporate a time table, have trains stop at predefined times, and may even have them cross and wait each other a the same place, it'll turn heads from the rest of the model railroading community. So for me, LEGO trains are as much model railroading as any other brand. -
I just mix it. As I and my girlfriend both work irregular hours, and all my Lego trains are at here place, it somehow works. Sometimes we play together on the layout, but at the moment, we're sorting old boxes full of bricks and BrickLink orders for our current projects.

Nice conversion there! I didn't shy away from modifying the roof, so this happened:

Nice design, but move the pantograph to the second car, as those are not on the end cars (Also try to get them directly over the bogies).

MOCs: Models of trains running in Hungary
ZueriHB replied to Ashi Valkoinen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Realy nice bridge design! Like it! Also your S-Curve solution to widen the distance between tracks to widen the platform is genius. I did something similar but used flex-track instead. -
How many trains run on your lego layout at a time?
ZueriHB replied to 12vretrofan's topic in LEGO Train Tech
On my layout, I alone can safely control 4 trains at the same time, just have one or two waiting before I let the next let it pass / cross. And the remaining trains are parked on the layout: But if friends come over, it is possible to have some excellent multiplayer fun with 5 or more trains.
