  1. I got a release date for Switzerland (may be used as a guideline for rest of Europe). A Manor employee was friendly enough to show me the internal Lego catalogue, it stated September 2010 for the four City Train sets. Can't wait. Stupid Amazon.fr does not ship to Switzerland.. ARGH!
  2. Finally came around to change the windows and doors to brickbuilt. (Now not that many parts missing from the MyFactory). And maybe try to fit the new Train Motor on each end. Those have the same dimensions than the old 9V, right?
  3. Interesting Layout, lot's of rail to travel. Keep us updated please. Is there enough clearance (at the switches when two trains meet) and slopes not too steep (curves)?
  4. I think it's a marketing ploy, because it can control 8 different motors / functions.
  5. Really nice train you did there. I also must confess that I like the color scheme. As some may already know, I'm not a steam-fan. But those streamlined engines are a sight to behold. And yours is at the forefront looking good and brilliant. Same here, same here.
  6. Seeing all those train photos, I think it's just a generic communer EMU with a sloped front (brickbuilt!) and, I think mostly because of building difficulty, seperate boogies / wagons.
  7. To quickly replace an empty battery pack perhaps? ;)
  8. The car on the right seems derailed ;) But look nice, I really wan't to get those. Nice parts too.
  9. And you post a picture of the Seetaler GTW the second most despicable EMU I know of in Switzerland (the first beeing the SIEMENS DTZ). Also, the FLIRT was primary designed for the Stadtbahn Zug. And the SPATZ of the Zentral Bahn is a hybrid between both. And here an unusual picture for you.
  10. Thanks for your constructive feedback. I'll have to try some SNOT-technics on the small windows (over boogie and doors) as I don't really like it at the moment. And I'll try that with bigger boogies, at least that's easy to change.. I hope there is enough clearance between boogie and carriage. Oh, btw, here some pictures of the prototype, different liveries for different regions, but intermixed and compatible. My motivation was the left one of the Stadtbahn Zug, may try the second to, it may be from or for Basel, but are frequently seen in Zug too (Both trains in the pictures where then in service for the Stadtbahn Zug).
  11. Really nice coupler design. You say it works, and that's great! You ought to mirror it, to better look like the prototypes couplings (the nose is left, yours looks right, or did they change it?) And the roof looks great with the added yellow and details. Makes the overall look even better.
  12. Finished my LDD Flirt. It may contain a receiver and a battery box (LiPo), but it doesn't feater a motor (yet). and some roof details, and yes, there is no cable hidden ;p. I was able to import it into MLCad and render it with POV-Ray, no advanced options, as I'm unable to acquire the LDRAW radiosity tools.
  13. Good thing you did this. Alas didn't happen the same with the Toy Story Western Chase Train Thingy? About the train, it looks... lackluster compared to the other steam engine by TLC (Emerald Night), and as I'm not that big a HP fan, I may pass this set. Oh, and again only one carriage.
  14. As I have another hobby which consumes a lot of my free time, it also uses space, so LEGO and Videogames have to share. I bring to you: The Battle of NintenHoth: Also as I'm a train fan too: The Imperial Night Express: Ok, it's more of a Separatist's Army Mover & Jail, but it sounds better. Or just stacking them on top of each other: The KimT Method (old):
  15. Great Idea to use a second receiver for the headlights. If there aren't that many trains on your layout (4 channels with two connections each). Also the aptly named roof cable could be very well incorporated into the design, but I think that's what you had in mind, didn't you? Would be sad if the overhang the FLIRT has to be lost (As the cab is ahead of the first axle), but there must be a solution which works and looks good, let's find it. Proposal: exchangeable fronts, one with magnets, and one like already have (it's beautiful) It'll be interesting to know. It's great to contribute with you.
  16. For visual effects, try to not move the first and last boogies, but try to get magnets in there somehow. I suggest using a small turntable or something. (I have to work it out too ;) ) I don't know how you want to incorporate the PF stuff, but hide the battery or LiPo box near the toilet, the IR receiver on the roof of the other carriage. and motors at the end. This installation may need extension wires, but less hassle with all the PF equipment and the Front.
  17. After you replied to my MOCs, I feel obliged to reply to yours. Nice idea with the cheese slopes for the front. Also the automated coupling is a good choice, it may nuke connectivity to a second FLIRT, but looks great. For additional details, try to get a picture or look at the roof of the prototype, it's easy to flesh it out a little bit, yellow warnings on AC-units, transformer, may even some water tanks for the fire extinguisher. Also there is a high voltage you could model, if you feel obliged to do so. found an image for you: MAV FLIRT (picture over 800px). Just a thought. Else a beautiful MOC of a great train.
  18. Yeah, I hope a can visit Busnang in March (That's where the FLIRTs come from), and I saw yours already, but was just lurking back then. And as you see, I try a little different approach (I want to sit little Battle Droids / Minifigs inside). And I really want to build it in reality too. Also the DPZ (Re 450 incl. some wagons). I'm currently deciding which with (FLIRT is a 7 wide) and lengh (to scale or to LEGO-scale i.e shorten). Feel free to use my ideas for your trains. The FLIRT's front is quite hard to do. I may try the inside instead ;) (btw: I know the inside better than the outside of a FLIRT cab).
  19. It has sliding doors for the goods wagon, a box with tools, six train axels and small train wheels with groove and a rubber band. Lots of interesting and usable parts.
  20. I think it's more to test and analyse the overhead wires for behavior while pulled by a diesel or electric engine. I don't think this is a self propelled engine, and if so, only in limited qualities (low top speed).
  21. WOW, nicely done chap. love the details at the PUG, doors and info-thingy. Also very nice bogies. In your very accurate model, the red endlight is a little high, it should be a little lower (1 to 1.5 brick heights lower should do the trick).
  22. I'm not a fan of American diesels, but even I know a great design and a great MOC when I see one. Great jon and nice ideas in the concept. It's a well deserved frontpage.
  23. Oh, no problem, I have access to my back catalogue of Technics and some Town elements to use. Also LDD and MLCAD are my friends.
  24. I hope you like the changes I had to made to rebuild it in LDD. If anyone wan'ts the LDD-File and look at it, let me know. My first FLIRT-Design: and my second approach, the roof is too flat, I know.
  25. Look at the Switch in the first picture, half is electrified and half isn't. Looks like an 'aftermarket' mod.
