  1. I agree, blue is also an option. At the moment the 42008 is really cheap, some sets are sold by 70-80€. And new at Amazon 82,75€ include delivery, a good price.
  2. My favorite truck in the moment is 42008, but the colour...... green Not really my loveliest colour but is possible to change, i´ve checked the parts. A tow truck should be yellow, orange or red........ only my personal view.
  3. Wow, only one word........ AWESOME! And such a clean build, beautyful.
  4. Today i have finished the Defender and it looks great! Complete with body it´s very heavy and a little underpowered with the two XL motors. But that´s not the main thing really important is the look if it´s driving! For the look (driving) i´ve build some door opener, so the doors are allways closed. (at driving they opened itself sometimes) I build one stiffener for the chassis and drive train. For the engine bay i´ve build one cover for the seven 16T gear wheels. The gearing for the steering wheel in front of the right headlamp changed to two 16T gear wheels, so it is possible to use the same headlamps (right and left). After building i can say it is a fantastic car with a great look and many functions Some pics: http://bricksafe.com...PG/1024x768.jpg http://bricksafe.com...PG/1024x768.jpg http://bricksafe.com...PG/1024x768.jpg http://bricksafe.com...PG/1024x768.jpg http://bricksafe.com...PG/1024x768.jpg http://bricksafe.com...G/1024x1365.jpg http://bricksafe.com...PG/1024x768.jpg http://bricksafe.com...PG/1024x768.jpg http://bricksafe.com/files/Ralf/tailgate%202.JPG/1024x768.jpg
  5. @ afol1969, who say genius? No one! What i mean is that you can´t sell this set to an age of 11-16 years. The complex construction with the rubber bands is not really reliable, you have to change some of the same parts for perfect working. Further more there are some bugs in the manual. But build it yourself an then tell your experience.
  6. I agree, the next time i have a look at the street bikes on Ebay. I have checked Bricklink i found nothing there. In the moment i am building the Defender 110 and after finish him i want to spend him a closed body in red. Then the car is round about 600 gr. heavier. Now the yello hard shocks are at their limit the weight of the car is about 3200 gr. P.S. Now i have ordered one of these shocks and test what is possible with it.
  7. Ok, cool many thanks......... but i think a VERY rare part! Nearly impossible to find four pieces of them. Or i have to buy four streetbikes........ expensive
  8. Hi together, i´ve found a very interesting shock absorber i´ve never seen before. I think a really good part for heavy vehicles. Does anyone know where i can order these parts? I found nothing about this on bricklink No. 48912 The seller told me he has only one of this........ http://www.ebay.de/itm/LEGO-TECHNIC-SHOCK-ABSORBER-48912-STOSSDAMPFER-FEDERBEIN-GELB-/290999407620?pt=DE_Allesf%C3%BCrdKind_Spielzeug_Lego&hash=item43c0ea9404
  9. Today i have adjusted the sequential gerabox inside the chassis.......... a horrible work Now all gears are working smoothly but this takes many time, around 4 hours for adjusting (change parts and test other rubberbands). I think also that Lego never want to sell this Technic set......... it is really to difficult. You must exactly understand how the gerbox is working to adjust it. Here some Pics: http://bricksafe.com/files/Ralf/chassis%201.JPG/1280x960.jpg http://bricksafe.com/files/Ralf/chassis%202.JPG/1280x960.jpg http://bricksafe.com/files/Ralf/flash%20lights.JPG/1280x960.jpg Please don´t wonder i have build in an V6 motor, i don´t like 4 cylinder........
  10. Now i have read the complete thread......... so many pages. I think i will try the MT 1901 i hope it looks great on the Defender, the original Unimog 400 tires are a little to small for me. http://www.ebay.de/i...984.m1439.l2649
  11. I am very interesting to build (next two or three month) the 8110 but i can´t find a full rc (ir) controlled version........ hmmmm is there still existing one? If not i have to create my own version of this fantastic Unimog. P.S. I want to build only full rc (ir) models.
  12. Today i have finished the drive train......... what a complex part, you need three hands sometimes. But it is working great. http://bricksafe.com/files/Ralf/IMG_0251%5B1%5D.JPG/800x600.jpg
  13. One good upgrade is the power supply. I throw all the batteries away and now i use only Sanyo Eneloop cells. Now all the motors have much more power and speed......... test it. And they are rechargable the current is in a range of 1,35-1,40 Volt a little bit more than NimH accus but much more powerful than batteries.
  14. Yes i do, but at first i have to build the steering original and then i have a look if it is enough space for the servo motor. But i think it is possible and the drivetrain from the servo motor i want to realise with a Lego chain, an easy and effective way. The advantage of the chain is you have very small backlash at the drivetrain. And it is much more easyer to find the right gearing for the steering (i have only two times 90 degrees).
  15. Thanks, and if i´ve changed the gearing at the steering, suitable for the servo motor i´ll upload the pics here. In this car i want to have a servo motor with middle position
  16. Ahh, ok thank you for that suggestion! I´ll try it the next time.
  17. Today i had a funny situation with the front axle of the Defender 110. But look yourself. Step 1 http://www.pic-upload.de/view-21079151/1.png.html Step 2 http://www.pic-upload.de/view-21079150/2.png.html
  18. Wow, perfect video without "hands" in the picture...... awesome
  19. Today i begin to build the Defender, the front axle. I can only say, congratutation for this fantastic car and manual! I love this difficult technic sets and this is really high end........
  20. Here is my "low cost solution" for flashing lights (45 cent without cable). I can´t change the time and delay but the flashing frequenz is like an original car (1,5 times per second). Now i want to use a very small part of Lego and i will put the LED and resistor inside. Further it is possible to use the parts for warning lamps at a crane or similar vehicle. Flash right: http://www.pic-upload.de/view-21076763/right.jpg.html Flash left: http://www.pic-upload.de/view-21076764/left.jpg.html P.S. But it is much more better to use a final solution with original Lego parts like runekokholms proposal!
  21. I think the flash light parts are a good chance to inovate the Lego products But also i know that Lego want to sell volume not only 10000 parts per year. If you look in the past the most popular product ever was the 41999 in the moment the price is about 350€ and the people still buy it! My conclusion is if there are products with an "must have" factor money is in the second row. The most AFOLs i know have enough money to fund their hobby and they are capable to buy expensive sets. But this is only my view.
  22. Yes the price is to high, now i have ordered the clear dishes for 67 cent per piece and one ir receiver for 15€ but also this is really to much for two dishes. But i don´t understand why the XL motors are so expensive on bricklink 20€ up to 28€. At the original LEGO shop i can buy them for 11,99€ per piece and thats what i ever do,i buy the motors at the original LEGO shop. Further i have tested the flashing LEDs, it looks like great if i use them at the servo motor drive right/left and flashing right /left very nice. P.S. Has anyone used the servo motor in the Defender? I have two of them and now i want to build one in the Defender! I think it is a better "steering feeling" like the standard M Motor. (automatically middle position)
  23. Ahh, yes you are right, i have also only 3 pcs LBG of them and the clear dishes are also rare.
  24. But now i´ve ordered 1,5mm silicone string 30 shore, so i can create my own rubber bands i need.
  25. I think to use the toothed toggle joints is a very good idea, i have hundreds of them in light grey. Or i use the angle 4 connectors in black it is also still in stock. The LBG 2x2 dishes are not my problem i have ordered them from the Netherlands for 2 cent per piece, i think everyone has problems to order some parts but allways others. For me it was difficult to find the right rubbers (3x3 and 4x4) the most imortant parts for a perfect working gear. If someone need the LBG 2x2 dishes: http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=MijnBouwsteenNL&itemID=35951127
