  1. I'm curious about what others think. This line from the listing seems to imply that "swivel bases" for cannons are a good thing. Am I the only one who thinks the opposite? :-/ I will go out of my way to avoid them. Why? Because I have lots of these and I like to mount guns on proper carriages. Does anybody actually prefer these?
  2. I have created an actual page which I hope works better: http://my.stackton.org/pirates/unicorn/ edit: moved webpage to new webspace so I changed the link above.
  3. WTF?!?! I get the same thing but if I type in the URL it comes up fine? Something loopy going on but darned if I know what it is? :-/
  4. OK, but what you have does not, I think, include these: Unicorn Plan (part one) Unicorn Plan (part two) As well there are photographs of different attempts to make models of the ship in two different scales and more paintings and drawings.
  5. If you want to build Tintin's Unicorn you need this book: The Making of Tintin, Methuen young books, 1983, ISBN: 041629300X (or "new" ISBN-13: 978-0416293005) The book contains the complete stories 'Secret of the Unicorn" and "Red Rackham's Treasure" as well as a bunch of other goodies including detailed diagrams of the Unicorn. My library has a copy and if yours does not you should ask for an Inter-Library Loan request (or I could just get off my butt and scan the diagrams which I have been meaning to do for a while :-$ )
  6. Actually it is not, in a any legal sense a parody. As BrickBay (now BrickLink) found out you cannot do business with a "parody" name. To be protected as a parody it has to be humourous and not a functioning enterprise. It is obviously not just a joke. They may not be trying to deceive but they will, sooner or later, receive a cease and desist order from YouTube's lawyers and have no choice but to re-brand their site. Actually I only used BriskShelf to store images to use for MOCpages. Now that MOCpages hosts pics I will probably shut down my BS account. One interface to upload pictures and create webpages for the MOCs.
  7. Apparently it is quite an art to do it one quick drop. The knot placement is crucial. The knot goes to the side of the neck for a nice break. Then the drop must be far enough to snap the neck without ripping the head clean off which is messy. So, if want a slow choking death (dance of death) you put the knot at the back and don't really let them drop at all - just take the stool/barrel/box/whatever out from under their feet. Of course, I get all this from reading Cornwall's historical novels and the Aubreiad so take with a grain of salt. *sweet*
  8. The Pirate Sail-In is trying to display every single Pirate set ever made. There are separate display areas for MOCs with Pirates having a small table last year beside the Castle display.
  9. Seattle, Washington, USA *sweet* Oh, and just to be complete: October 5, 6 and 7, 2007
  10. They can have a version of Windows installed but since I'm not yet willing to pay for a copy of Windows and run it just to use this I'm SOL. As a W95 program perhaps it's time somebody (obviously not me since I'm not a programmer) updated this perhaps to run as a web-based app or something like LDD which grabs updated parts lists automatically. I know last year for NWBrickCon Brendan used a different program to organize the Castle layout. It seems to me that a layout program with baseplates, track and some basic elements like trees/bushes/plates/1xX bricks would be fantastically useful. I've been trying to do a layout for our upcoming train show but I have to copy images, manipulate them in photoshop and string them together in a table to achieve a basic layout.
  11. Oh, no doubt. I just thought it was a way to increase your infantry without having to buy more expensive redcoats. *sweet*
  12. I don't suppose there is a MAC version anywhere? :-|
  13. I don't consider them "customizers" as they don't modify existing LEGO (well, decals on torsos I suppose for Will) they create new LEGO-compatible elements. :-$ And just to save valuable red torsos: I don't think that gunners wore red coats in the British Army of the time.
  14. I thought I might take my digital video camera and do a "tour" when its all set up. *sweet*
  15. I wondered about that but it is posted openly on the sign-up page for the Sail-In which is a publicly accessible page so I don't imagine it's a problem (I will edit for SPAM though.)
  16. You probably want to start with Dan since he seems to be coordinating the Sail-In: danielbr@northREMOVEwestSPAMhomeBLOCKmortgage.com
  17. Yeah I'm sure they would be open to something. If I remember correctly from last year (and it has begun for this year already) a lot of the Castle display was organized on Classic-Castle.com and the website was mentioned in the program.
  18. I attended last year and am already registered for this year. They all seem pretty open to help and cooperation. Did you have something in mind?
  19. Pirates in my own back yard! I have already signed up to bring Harbor Sentry (6245) and Forbidden Island (6270). The two sets I actually got when they were originally in stores. Posted on LUGNET:
  20. Will is a great guy (met him twice) and his stuff is fantastic. I attended presentations at NWBC'06 and BF'07 and his passion for quality control means the accessories he manufactures are amazing.
  21. Or if I had beat him to the guy doing the selling. It was an online local classified and the Imperial Trading Post was part of a lot of LEGO for about $140 total. I phoned about 15 minutes after Bert had picked up the lot. :-| Of course he knows the value, he funds his LEGO habit with a BrickLink Store.
  22. Just don't tell my wife. If (OK, when) she finds out I'll just say it's an early 40th B-day present to myself. X-D
  23. Seriously that decking is amazing. I don't think I have seen that before but it looks fantastic. I also love the way you handled the gunports and the spaces between.
  24. I am supposed to be picking up a copy of this set from a friend for (cdn)$140 later today. Not in bags but with the box and all pieces in good condition. I can hardly wait! X-D
