  1. AFAIK The China case is outsourcing. But why would off-shoring suck as a business practice? It surely sucks for the workers of the first factories, but if TLG want to cut costs by having plants that are closer to the US then that's what happens. Yes, and it is bad for the replaced employees. But there are two sides to the story and it is that the new employees got new jobs. It does not suck as business practice because it cuts costs. And if it is possible to find a work the same level as yours across another continent then you really are replaceable. If the statistics about this Mexican plant actually having less quality issues than the Denmark one are true, then it is just plainly the case of Mexican plant being a lot more competitive (ie: more quality for less cost) than Denmark. Has anyone stated otherwise in this thread?
  2. Go figure, but in this screen, the original minifig statue of liberty pic looks closer to the green brick you linked. To me: This http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/vexorian/CM6/liberty.png and http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/junlego/Colors/sandgreen.jpg are close in color. And this and this: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/junlego/Colors/green.jpg as well. But certainly, the original of the minifig statue of Liberty also seems to be artificially darker.
  3. I guess including seat and steering wheel with the test dummy was too explicit.
  4. The photos were leaked somewhere from China and they are certainly not studio quality. Pretty sure that they aren't adding colors to the palette for no reason. The alien is almost certainly going to be stone colored, which tells me that there is something that is increasing the amount of green in the two pictures. Pages ago I modified the lighting in those pictures, the process to make the alien look closer to stone gray makes the statue look closer to sand green: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/vexorian/CM6/liberty.png and http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/vexorian/CM6/gray.png
  5. Here's the highlander's pic modified to be lighter, at least to me it helped notice the torso better: And this is the gray, which I am pretty sure is really stone colored and the green tone in the original pic was caused by lighting: The minotaur , also looking slightly better under a different light: Something I am really liking about this series is that all of these figs should be really easy to recognize by feeling the bags. 6. I wonder if Raph is LEGO's copyright-friendly way of saying Fonz. As Fonz is a unusual four letters nickname, and Raph sounds like a unusual four-letters nickname.
  7. The skater is more original if you consider the printed hair. I am taking these poor pics as a chance to learn image handling after reading Sariel's tutorial. Here's Lady liberty assuming she really is meant to be sand green (makes the most sense, imho): Here are some other processed versions, as you can see the results are mixed: Edit: I post-processed all the remaining pictures: Bonaparte: Pictures removed on request of LEGO
  8. If they did see your designs, it would be very disappointing to think of them choosing that torso for the gray instead of following something closer to yours.
  9. I like the Alien and it (and all the minifigures in the pictures) is certainly an official LEGO minifigure. But I have my doubts as to whether it is a CM fig and not for something else. Granted, the doubts are very small and got smaller once the other figures appeared. Just saying, if the alien turns out to be a figure in another 2012 theme, it wouldn't surprise me.
  10. The sword seems like a new mold and it clearly says LEGO when zoomed in. I would say that I am still not sure the alien is a CM6 figure, but the others most likely are.
  11. Comments: Skater: If this gal had just about any other accessory than yet another skater (or a snowboard / surfboard), she would have been awesome. In fact, it was a nice chance to include another musical instrument. Otherwise the rest of the details are great, including the hair and the torso. Spacegirl: Same complaint actually, I guess TLG thinking that a space woman must have a pink uniform has its reasons, but why give her the same exact gun that has so far been used and used and used in CM? The worst of it is that the space gun became a little mundane since it became a standard accessory in Alien conquest. A new gun would have been great. Otherwise, I love the face print and the hair. Statue of liberty: It is a great iconic figure. Genie / Leprechaun : Great things for those collecting odd things. Alien: Again with that gun. The torso seems out of place at fist, but many of the people in the UFO world are sure that the grays are robots, so perhaps it is a reference to that. I wouldn't mind getting the butcher (sideburns !) and the mechanic. The minotaur is also cool. The warrior guy is pretty bland. What happened is that the automatic script to make the thumbnails was leaving duplicated .jpg in the URLs and I didn't notice, the large images should be working now, but it is best to have many backups.
  12. "Lower wage than the US" does not necessarily mean underpaid. You have to consider cost of life as well. If for example, people in my country were paid half of what US workers get paid to do the same thing, they would be feeling like millionaires. Yet the corporation would be spending 50% of it. Makes me realize it is too bad this place is so unfriendly to businesses...
  13. Don't panic, that's fixed.
  14. Here is the skate girl: Bonaparte: Picture removed on request of LEGO Yeah it seems like we needed more skaters
  15. Finding nasty stuff in second hand "LEGO" bulks, is one of my irrational fears when I am evaluating a new one. So far the worst I found was some sort of red goo, but I still consider the possibility to find some plague in them. Thank you for feeding it. More so, you didn't even get them for free, you should consider the cost of the beers.
  16. Meh, so they merged the token girly fig with the token sci fi fig. "Yay". I guess. To be honest the idea is fine and it is almost well executed, but it really bugs me that they are using the exact same accessory as the Series 1 spaceman. I mean, by now those guns are really redundant, specially because you can get them easily in Alien Conquest. They could have at least included a pink laser rod. I would say these are official. Only TLG would think we needed more skaters. At least she is almost a goth skater. The genie and the minotaur are great though. So far I am interested in getting the Leprechaun, the genie, the minotaur (or is it a tribes man), the alien and the space girl. I think the best face print is the space woman's because it is not affected by teeth plague. When ignoring the teeth, the butcher and the mechanic are great in the lack of detail lines. In fact, the butcher's teeth are done in a way so different than usual that they almost look right.
  17. I think that by know it is pretty easy to see that Atlantis will be discontinued. But that won't be because of super heroes. We are entering August and it seems this is the month in which you start hearing about sets for the next year (or rather Christmas season).
  18. Depends on how successful it is sales-wise.
  19. Wait till people who got it for free and didn't want it put theirs in BL or ebay.
  20. Assuming they do make minifig releases (and I am not saying they would), I would guess the packaging will be like the ninjago ones. Letting the character be visible and show accessories off. All to justify the outrageous price.
  21. That's the "kid Han Solo" that is included in the brick menace disks.
  22. It is still a prototype. Knowing megabloks, each weapon will become a single piece by the final release.
  23. I would say it is highly unlikely we'll be seeing one this year.
