  1. No, they wouldn't. But I don't see why they can't make an AT-AT with over 3,000 parts.
  2. So Lego has announced that the results for its second wave of 2014 Lego Ideas sets will be revealed in January. I do not think the UCS AT-AT will be selected, but until we know for sure, we will never actually know ;) It's just too big of a set. Obviously Lego would scale it down, but there is already a system scale version and Lego would probably be better off designing it's own version from scratch. Lego could even intend to release a UCS AT-AT further doen the road, and if so, they wouldn't bother giving the Ideas version the time of day. It'd be sort of like what happened to the custom UCS Sandcrawler that also got 10,000 supporters. Lego already had its own UCS Sandcrawler in the works. Anyway... Here's hoping!
  3. Do they show pictures of the figures? Do you need to make a purchase to get the figures? Sounds like you need to walk into a physical store to redeem the coupons, making it pointless if you don't have a physical store near you.
  4. So has anyone not yet received the 2015 wall calendar yet? I mean, it's been out for four days already. I'd love to know what special offers are being given to those that get the calendar. I am just surprised ZERO information has come through and that there aren't any pics yet. If anyone has anything on this calendar, can you please share?
  5. Totally forgot about that one. It might be because I think of that as such an aweful set that I did not remember it. The unique lightsaber hilt is cool, though.
  6. The lack of a Movie version of Yoda in Lego's current lineup is reason enough to make a dagobah... and with the retiring of the x wing, it is even more reason to make a dagobah set with an x wing.
  7. The biggest surprise to me is the fact that the Rancor Pit is still going. Maybe it's because of the Rancor?
  8. I don't know... To not have a system/minifig scale X wing in the line up would be very strange. It might be the most recognized ship in the franchise.
  9. The following sets are retiring! 75019 AT-TE 75018 Jek-14's Stealth Starfighter 9493 X-Wing Starfighter (there will likely be a new one before Episode VII, so I would not recommend buying a bunch of these if you're thinking about profiting from the set being retired) 75041 Vulture Droid 75039 V-Wing Starfighter 75003 A-Wing Starfighter 75002 Mandalorian Speeder
  10. Buying sets for figures and then selling the figures can work. I did it with the Mos Eisley cantina. I Kept the Sandtrooper and sold the other figs for half the cost of the set. While that may not sound like much, keep in mind that the Cantina set has sold like crazy and that demand for the figures is not that high. Now if you bought an AT-AT walker for parts, I am sure you'd have no trouble selling the snowtroopers since they are always needed for building armies. However, in the case with the AT-AT, you don't get as many figures as you do with the Cantina. Point here is that you'd want to get as many figures as possible in as cheap a set as possible. With that being said, I don't mind the time component of MOCs. I like taking my time. My issue is money (specifically for making an Imperial Base on Endor). I have the UCS Imperial Shuttle (still sealed in a perfect box) and I've done some numbers crunching; building a diorama worth of the Shuttle won't be cheap. Yeah, the landing platform would be pretty expensive, but the fact that I'd need several big trees is worse. At this point, I am not sure if I will go through with the moc or not. If I don't, I'd sell the shuttle. My problem is when a great set like the UCS Imperial Shuttle comes out, or the Sandcrawler, I like to build a scene/diorama around it and display the set that way. Doing the Sandcrawler scene would be nowhere near as ambitious as the scene for the landing platform (a Sandcrawler scene, at least what I've drawn up, would take less space as well).
  11. Wow, no more arm print? The official pics showed him with arm print and there is a video showing him with arm print too.
  12. Lego's website says it is 124.5 cm long.
  13. lol, I sold quite a few of those Lieutenant polybags at inflated prices.
  14. Contrary to what anyone thinks, the regular Tie-Fighter has the most main stream popularity. It's going to be a regular Tie fighter. Cavegod said it's going to be a Tie. When you just say Tie, it means it's the "regular" one.
  15. I've said it once and I'll say it again, if you have OT stormies from older sets, you can buy the BP and swap bodies (or helmets) and now you will have OT stormies with cool full-body printing. It's a great wau to update your old stormtroopers. They will blend in with the Summer waves once much better that way.
  16. Oh ok, I thought the designer himself said it was also a playset that could be swooshed around.
  17. This is the UCS Slave 1 thread, why does it bother you if we don't like something about the ship? If you're a kid playing with the set and "swooshing" it around, do you not have a legitemate gripe and the fact that the wings do not rotate via gravity the way they did with 8097? When I first built the 8097, that was the first thing that impressed me. No matter how I oriented the ship, the wings never changed their orientation. I have no problems with people pointing out something sucks about something I planned to buy, especially if it was something I did not notice at first. The wings are not an issue for me, but it will be for those who drop the cash and have the expectation of the wings being as responsive as the 8097 set. Afterall, it's a UCS, why shouldn't a consumer expect it? The system scale set already set the expectation/standard.
  18. ... Better start moc'ing a cloud city landing platform. My only complaint is how bad the wings are to rotating with gravitational pull. Looks like they'd have to be manually posed. You see this when they guy lifts the slave you to show you the trao door. All other times the video seems to have been edited to hide the fact that the wings don't rotate well.
  19. Guys, if you have older OT stormies (like from the endor battle pack or from the Ewok Village), you can but the Rebels ITT and use their bodies on your older stormies. They will look more uniform with the latest Destroyer's Stormie that way. Still won't be exact (because the latest destroyer's Stormie has a slightly updated helmet and the body and leg print is slightly different from the Rebels' print), but it will look more uniform than not swapping out the bodies; much more uniform! I'm looking forward to the ITT whether it's rebels or not now. I have 12 stormies from the Endor battle pack and Ewok Village that could use updated bodies!
  20. Awesome, thanks! Will go well with the red imperial guards!
  21. What is the part number of the hilts being held by Maris Brood? Or is that a custom hilt?
  22. You have no idea what you're talking about. Nice try on making a relevant sounding post though! As for the Cantina, I had trouble with that one. There are some useful pieces if you need a bunch of tab colored bricks and a dome to make Tatooine structures for a Tatooine diorama. The Dewback should fetch a nice pirce which should help you recover a lot of your money. The problem is that the set is loaded with minifigs that'd be difficult to sell. I am not so sure that everyone wants the star destroyer; it'd be a safer bet to say that everyone wants the Darth Vader that comes in the set. With that in mind, it should be easier to unload a bunch of Vaders than it would be to unload a bunch of Obi-Wans (assuming you bought multiples of their respective sets). The Vaders would also fetch a much better price.
  23. What is an LBG/LBG Lever? Part number anyone?
  24. Yeah, but my rationale is a little different. However, the AT-AT also has good value given that it has army building value. Still, the 75055 is still a better buy IMO. I do, however, like the AT-AT as a vehicle more than the destroyer.
  25. I don't know about you guys, but has anyone noticed the potential "steal" in value set 75055 yields? The following assumes U.S. Currency and Prices: The set costs $130 and has 1359 parts. That yields a price-per-piece (PPP) of $.095 (just under 10 cents a piece) In October, U.S. customers will get double VIP points which is essentially a 10% off (so it will be like you are paying $117). So in October the PPP will be $.086 (just under 9 cents per piece). Now before you say "well, there are non-licensed sets that will likely yield a better ppp," consider that the set comes with two of the latest stormtroopers (which everyone needs for army building). The cheapest that those stormies are going for right now at a U.S. store on Bricklink is $11.00 per stormie. Assuming your intent is to buy stormies in bulk, buying set 75055 in October would be like buying the set for $95. The PPP would then be $.07!! But that's not all. Could you see yourself amassing Imperial Navy Troopers as well? Because you get one in the set. Personally, I need some for an Endor moc I am planning. These guys right now go for about $10. So if you never intended on getting 75055, but needed the trooper, then it'd be like paying $85 for the set in October. The new PPP would further drop to $.063! Also consider that while I do not factor in the costs of sales tax (which you would not necessarily pay on Bricklink), you'd be paying for shipping on Bricklink which could well outweigh sales tax over time. Also consider that you get a bonus holiday set in October for the purchase! What are everyone's thoughts on this? Is there currently a set for people who only collect Star Wars Lego that yields a better PPP? Is there a non-licensed set that has a lower yield that $.063? Keep in mind that for non-licensed sets, the minifigs probably would not be put to use by people who collect Star Wars exclusively, making it harder to reach that $.063 sweetspot. That set 75055 is already less than 10 cents per piece and includes three figures for army building makes this, at the least, the best Star Wars set on the retail market in terms of value in my opinion. Thoughts? EDIT: If you're genuinely just a Star Wars Lego fan, then it'd probably serve you best to wait until the May the 4th promo to pick up a few of these. Especially since there is a greater chance that you'd appreciate the promo May the 4th figure more than the October holiday set.
